"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."

- Julie Dillon

You sighed in exasperation before walking over to the door, swinging it open to reveal. . .

"Bakugou?"

He was still in his school uniform, his bag hanging off his shoulder as his hands remained in his pockets. His red eyes were glaring down at you, which didn't take you aback at all, seeming as it was a constant look for him. However, instead of a normal explanation as to why he was there, he replied with: "Where the hell were you today?"

You frowned at this. Why did he want to know? As far as you knew, he wanted you buried deep into the ground since middle school, maybe even earlier. "Um. . . Huh?"

"What are you, stupid?!" He shouted, his forehead creasing in his anger.

Ah, there he was. There was the Bakugou you knew.

You leaned against the doorframe, shrugging one of your shoulders and saying, "I was just here. Wasn't feeling it today. Why?"

He let out a very aggressive 'tch' noise before saying, "Dunce Face and Raccoon Eyes haven't shut up about you all day just because you didn't come to school. It's been pissing me off and I want to know what all the fucking fuss is about."

You had gotten used to his knack for nicknames in the first week of the school term, so you already knew who he was referring to, still deciding to correct him anyway. "Kaminari and Mina? That's sweet of them."

"It was also very annoying of them." He aggressively planted his hand on the wall next to you before saying, "Whatever is going on, whether it's a home thing or a friend thing, get it over with. Those two are annoying the hell out of me, including Deku and your other friends."

You knew Bakugou better to know the truth behind those words. Despite all of his actions in the past, you were still his closest friends. You chuckled awkwardly before saying, "It's uh. . . More of a soulmate thing than anything. Just got a few issues going on, is all."

It was funny, he almost seemed concerned for a second. But he masked it so quickly that you weren't even sure you saw it. "Has that Half-and-Half Bastard done something to you? I'll kick his fuckin' ass if he has!"

You chuckled, your heart warming knowing that there was someone that would look out for you. Even though Bakugou was a bit of a bitch most of the time, you knew you could trust him. Still, you chose to not let anything out, "Don't worry, just a few relationship issues. We'll get over it."

He stayed silent for a while, scanning your facial features with his eyes. You kept a smile on your face, reassuring him. Although, you knew he wasn't stupid. He decided to leave you alone. "Fine. Just let me know if he fucks up and I'll kick his ass so far that we'd see him on the moon if we looked through a telescope."

You couldn't help but laugh, and he didn't say anything as he turned around, saluting to you as a goodbye. "Bye, Bakugou! I love yooouuuuu~"

"LIKE HELL YOU DO!" He turned around as he got to your driveway when you said that, his face red with either anger or embarrassment as he flipped you off. You flipped him off as well, and he shook his head before turning around and walking back to the direction of his house. You chuckled as you heard him mumbling to himself.

"Idiot–"

"(L/N)-san." You almost jumped, having not realised that Todoroki was approaching your front doorstep. You now wished Bakugou was back.

"Oh! Todoroki-san. Hi." You laughed awkwardly, rubbing your arm. He looked at you with the same look as Bakugou; calculating you. You cleared your throat as you stepped away from the door, moving to the side and motioning for him to move inside. "Uhm, come in."

"Thank you," he bowed respectfully before taking off his shoes and entering your home. You closed the door after him and watched as he looked with those wonder-filled eyes around your house. You frowned as you felt your heart flutter. For some reason, despite how you were feeling unloved, you still couldn't get over your feelings of affection towards the culprit of your breaking heart.

"So," you started, wanting him out of your house as soon as possible, "what did you want to talk about?"

"I think you know what." He said, gazing down at you. "It's about Saturday. And even the evening before that."

You pursed your lips, nodding your head in understanding before motioning to the living room. "Would you like to sit?"

He nodded his head and followed you to the couch, sitting on one end of it. You sat at the other end, and he didn't show any disappointment. Instead, he sat up straighter and said, "We need to talk about Friday evening first."

You nodded your head, remembering how you had left so abruptly, declining all offers for Todoroki to walk with you. You remembered the questions that had triggered you both:

'Never have I ever wanted to be with anyone other than my soulmate.'

'Never have I ever thought of my soulmate as a task rather than a partner.'

"What happened? Why did you leave so suddenly?" He asked, and you stared at him incredulously. Was he really that dense?

"I'm sorry?" You questioned, feeling frustration build up inside you. "You were the one who had a problem with me first."

He frowned at your statement, his voice now at a decent volume so you wouldn't have to strain to hear him, "I never had a problem with you. We were playing a game you suggested, and you suddenly had a question that seemed very passive aggressive. It seemed you had a very big problem with me."

You chuckled humourlessly, standing up and pacing in front of him, pinching the bridge of your nose as you felt more frustration build up. "Todoroki, you said that I was your task. You said that you had been preparing all your life to look after your soulmate. You said that it was your job to look after me!"

He stood up, a frown etching into his features as his tone rose slowly. "I had, in fact, been preparing all my life to look after my soulmate. That doesn't mean I didn't want to."

"That's not the point!" You finally yelled, scratching at your arm. "I don't feel like your soulmate, Todoroki! I feel like some goddamn task that was sent to you from the heavens above!"

"You were!" He was now yelling, tugging at his hair in visible agitation. "And so was I! A soulmate is someone you're supposed to look after. It's etched into your soul as soon as you're born, (Y/N)!"

"A soulmate isn't a task!" You felt tears prick your eyes as you pointed toward the door. "I didn't agree to chat with you just for you to say to my face that you don't even want to be my soulmate! From the sounds of it, I'm still a task to complete! So until you can actually be honest with me and yourself, don't talk to me. I'm sick and tired of feeling stressed all the fucking time! Just leave!"

He hesitated, but once seeing you were being serious, he shook his head and stormed towards the door, putting his shoes on and leaving your house altogether, closing the door behind him.

You stood in the living room for a good five minutes, trying to calm yourself down. It wasn't working. You felt your throat close up as you began to shake, tears streaming down your face. You collapsed to the ground, sobbing. You were at least hoping you could acknowledge each other's feelings and find a solution, but instead it was just the same thing as last time.

You were tired. You didn't want to talk to him after that. You weren't even sure if you ever wanted to talk to him ever again. It was too much emotional stress, and it was taking a toll on your way of living.

The next day, you were going to go to school and just forget him altogether. You weren't going to give in to the emotions and the stress. You wanted to enjoy yourself for once.
