《Letters to Inmate 29901》Chapter 76

Arthur and Lillie kissed!
That was the image running through my mind, relentlessly, for the last ten minutes.
I've seen the two locked in an embrace from a distance. My blood boiled, wanting to knock Arthur the fuck out as I walked up to the pair.
I wanted to see Lillie. I knew she was at her mother's wedding here in New Jersey, like Kyle had said, and decided to wait at the guest house for her. I waited around the corner and I had come to find this.
She fucking moved on with Arthur, and I fucking hated it.
My heart sank as I swallowed hard. I almost turned around, but I had to confirm this for myself. To look into her eyes and for her to tell me this is what she really wanted.
I was waiting for her to respond. She looked at me, concerned etched in her pretty face, surprised by my untimely arrival.
"What are you doing here?" she asked softly.
"I'm here to talk to you...Why? Did I break up something?" I said evenly, glancing between her and Arthur. Jealousy eating me up.
I glowered at Arthur. The guy was breathing hard, his chest rising in at out. I practically could see his nostrils flared as he glared at me.
What the fuck was this?! The balls on this bastard. What the hell did I just walk into?
Lillie sent a nervous glance between Arthur and I, sensing something brewing, like a hot kettle about to blow its whistle top.
"Well well, the man of the bloody hour!" Arthur hissed sarcastically. "Coming in to save your damsel in distress."
"What the fuck are you on about?" I said, my voice rising slightly, matching his.
"Oh please, like you don't know." Arthur inched closer, scanning me up and down. "What Lillie sees in a scumbag like you I will never know or care to understand. Why the fuck you here anyway?" he said, coming dangerously close to my face. "Don't you have a bank to rob or something?"

"What the fuck did you just say?" I said through gritted teeth. My hands balling up at my sides.
"Oh, did I hit a nerve... since crime is all you good for?" Arthur pushed me with both hands.
I jerked back.
My skin prickled with anger as I clenched my jaw. This asshole did not want to get into a confrontation with me, holding my itching fists at bay.
He already touched and kissed Lillie and I wanted so badly to unleash my knuckles on this bastard, destroying him. It would be over so fast that he'd need to be careful not to blink. But I didn't feel like going back to prison for assault with grievous bodily harm.
But the bastard pushed me again. I mean, there's so much I can fucking take!
I shoved Arthur back. He stumbled backwards but regained his composure quick. I was tight-lipped, glaring at him.
"No-No-No, this is not going to happen." Lillie said, standing between us. But Arthur's blue eyes were fixed on me, rage brewing behind it.
"I'm gonna kick your ass!" Arthur shouted, pointing in my direction.
Is this tough guy for real? Does he not know what I do for a living?
Bring it on, asshole!
He shoved Lillie away with his hand in an aggressive manner. I watched her lose her footing that made her trip and fall on the sidewalk.
That was the final straw! This bastard was going to get it now.
Arthur threw his first punch but caught nothing but air. He was slow and I dodged easily his flimsy punch.
The next thing I did was what I did best. I lunged at Arthur in his mid-drift section of his body and we both fell to the ground. We tackled on the concrete. As Arthur tried to punch me again, I blocked it and jabbed him in the mouth, shutting him the fuck up.

I couldn't lie, it felt good.
Lillie screamed, shouting for us to stop, but I didn't listen. Lights starting popping in various rooms in the guesthouse. Fuck, we were probably making a scene out here. Disturbance of the peace would get me into trouble.
I had to reel in my anger and calm myself down before Arthur feels five devastating cracks to his skull.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!" Sassi yelled, running outside from the guest house, with a robe on and with some guy I've never met, hot on her trail. She quickly came to Lillie's side and tried to pull Arthur and I apart with the help of the man. I released my hold as they dragged Arthur away from my grip.
Sassi was hollering in the background as Arthur staggered upright, holding his bleeding nose.
"You Asshole!" he seethed. "Mark my words, you're gonna pay for this!"
I narrowed my eyes at him as I got up. I didn't take too kindly to threats.
Arthur stood up and shook his head, glaring at me. "Maybe Lillie isn't as clever as I thought." he said out loud.
"What the hell are you mumbling about now?" I asked, annoyed.
"Please, like you don't know." He continued. "Isn't it the reason you came here?!"
I took a deep breath. "Know what?"
"She fucking chose you over me!" he finally shouted.
He gave one look at Lillie and stomped to his car. "This isn't over." He said, his voice muffled from his blocked nose clogged with blood. He got in the driver's seat, started the car and sped away, screeching wheels behind him as he skidded.
I shook my head. Not from the threat, Arthur said, I didn't give a damn about that, but what he said just before he walked to his car.
I walked over to Lillie, who looked shocked and fragile as she clutched her green bridesmaid dress. Sassi shot questions at me and anybody who could give her an answer.
"Dimitri, why are you here? What the hell happened? Can anyone tell me?!" Sassi hollered behind me.
But my focus was on Lillie, and Lillie only. I towered over her, and she looked up with anxious eyes.
"You chose me?" I asked softly. I didn't care about the kiss with Arthur or any of it. All that mattered was that she chose me, and I had to know it for myself.
Lillie looked down to the ground not saying anything and nodded her head lightly. I smiled internally, my entire universe lighting up. I lifted her chin up gently with my thumb until she was looking at me once again with sparkling eyes.
"So, what's your answer?" I asked tenderly.
She frowned.
"Will you go on that date with me?"
