《10 Seconds Left in Overtime (Anderson Series #1)》The Big Day

Ryan and I had been doing great over the last month. The trial was behind us, I was getting closer to giving birth to our little peanut and the Bruins were in the Stanley Cup finals.

They were playing the Vancouver Canuks and the series had started off with the Bruins taking the first two games and Vancouver tying the series up the next two.

Game 5 was back in Boston and it was a nail bitter for sure, but the guys snuck out a win. I had to watch the games on tv when they flew to Vancouver. No flying for me so close to peanuts arrival.

Vancouver managed to tie it again, so here we are game 7 in Boston and I am sitting at the TD Garden with Ryan's parents hoping for Lord Stanley to be raised by Ryan tonight.

Ryan was super nervous tonight when he left the house. I gave him a kiss and told him he would be great tonight. He hugged me tightly and placed his hand on my now very large bump and said, "Alley I couldn't be happier right now. Even if we lose tonight I am still coming out of this as the luckiest man in the world," he says kissing me slowly.

"You better go to the arena Mr. Anderson or I am going to make you late", I say with a smirk.

"When we win, you are in for a night you won't soon forget. You what the say sex is good to start the birthing process," he says with a wink.

"Go Ry, otherwise I am going to take you up on that offer now," I say smiling.

He leaves to head there and I get ready to go.

Ry's parents flew in for the game, so we have a quick dinner at the house and head to the arena.

Mer meets us there as her relationship with Jeff has been going really well.

Like Ryan, no one on the team thought Jeff would settle down, but Mer changed that.

We all head for our seats and settle in. I introduce her to Ryan's parents and then catch up with her about the coming and goings of the office.

I stopped working at the beginning of the third trimester and I missed my job, but knew I had to step back until after the baby was born.

I watch as Ryan heads out to the blue line to stand for the National anthems and I also watch as he scans the crowd and finds me.

I smile and wave and give him the thumbs up.

The game starts and it's just as fast and rough as you would expect for a game 7. Our goalie is on fire and stopping everything that they throw at him.

Ryan heads back down the ice with Jeff and the right winger. Ryan shoots it on the net and the Canuks goalie stops it, but Jeff is there to slap in the rebound. We all cheer and I high five Mer and Ryan's parents.

Talking quietly to my bump letting our peanut know what is going on. They seem to want to get in on the action as I feel a little kick and I smile to myself.

The game is back and forth and heading into the 3rd the score is 3-2 Bruins.

The third period is a nail bitter with neither team being able to put the put into the net. Vancouver pulls the goalie with one minute left to see if they can tie it up. It's up to Jeff to win the faceoff and get it out of the Bruins zone.

The ref drops the puck, Jeff wins the draw and get's it back to Ryan. Ryan gets it out and chases the puck. He's able to get it and shoots for the empty net and it goes in. The Bruins have won the Stanley Cup.

Mer and I hug each other and I start to cry.

Ry's mom is crying too and we start to make or way to ice level.

They bring out the cup and all the families are gathering around the bench to watch their loved ones raise it.

I watch as Ry laughs and smiles and hugs all this teammates and I love seeing him so happy. Knowing how hard he worked to get here.

He comes off the ice and sees me and smiles. "We did it Doc and thanks to you I was able to be a part of all this," he says.

"It was all you, I just put you back together," I say tapping his shoulder that I fixed.

"You put me back together in more than one way. You coming back into my life made this all possible," he says.

"Ry, shit you are going to make me ugly cry," I say wiping a tear from my eye.

Just then I get a sharp pain in my abdomen. "Oww shit," I say.

"Are you okay?" Ryan asked me with a concerned look.

"Yea, I think my contractions are starting. I have been get them sporadically through the game, but this one was intense," I say.

"Should we head to the hospital?" He asks.

"Not till they get closer together or my water breaks", I assure him.

"Go get showered and changed and I'll stay here with you mom and dad," I say giving him a kiss.

The staff at the arena give me a chair to sit down in outside the dressing room while we we are waiting for Ryan.

My contractions keep getting more intense as we sit there and wait. Angie keeps asking me if they should take me to the hospital.

"The contractions are still far enough a part and water hasn't broke, so we are okay. I am just going to get up and walk around," I say.

I get up and start walking around rubbing my bump. The contractions getting closer together. Just as I am about to go and sit back down, I feel this big pressure and a gush of water falls from between my legs.

"Shit," I say loud enough for most people to turn their heads and look at me. I see Ryan's mom look at.

"Umm now would be a good time to probably head to the hospital and have some get Ryan," I say a little panicked.

"Ben you get word to Ryan that Alley is in active labour and I will drive her to the hospital." I hear Angie say as she comes over to me.

"Okay Alley, you just need to breathe and give me the keys to your car and I'll get you to the hospital. Ben is going to get Ryan and bring him in Ryan's car," she says taking my hand and leading me to the parking lot.

Driving to the hospital just trying to breathe and hoping that Ryan gets there in time as I fee this baby is coming fast.

We get there and Angie gets me checked in and moved up to the Maternity Ward.

They check me and I am already 8 cm dilated and I know I just have to be 2 more cm and this baby will be coming.

Angie stays with me and helps me through the contractions. Texting with Ben to see where him and Ryan are.

About half an hour later the nurse comes into to check how I am doing and to see if we are ready to begin. "We can't begin yet Ryan isn't here," I say between contractions.

"Well Ms. Hudson you are 10 cm dilated and this baby wants out. So I am recommending we start to push," she says smiling.

"I'll be right here until Ryan comes. Let me just text Ben again and see where they are," Angie says.

Just as she is about to, the room door opens and Ryan walks in. "Did I miss it?" he asks walking over to me.

"No sir your wife is just about to start getting this baby out of her," the nurse says.

"Thanks so much mom for being with Alley till I got her. The damn reporters wouldn't let me leave, even when I told them Alley was in labour," he says.

"You are welcome Ry Bear. I was glad I could be here for Alley. So make me a grandma again," she says giving Ryan a hug as she walks out of the room.

I smile watching Ry take off his suit jacket and throw it over the chair. "Well so much for our celebratory plans for the night," Ry says winking.

"What are you too celebrating?" the nurse asks.

"He just won the Stanley Cup tonight," I say.

"Oh my, well congratulations Sir," she says.

"Now Alley, when I say push, you push okay?" She says.

I nod my head and get ready.

"Push," she says.

I grab the bed rails and push as hard as I can. The pain is so intense and poor Ryan is just rubbing my back and trying to help in anyway he can.

It takes about 15 minutes, but I give one final push and the baby is out. The doctor grabs the baby and Ryan is there to cut the cord.

I lay back in the bed tired and just needing some sleep.

"I am so proud of you Doc. You did it," he says giving me a kiss on the forehead.

"Thanks for coaching me through it," I say taking his hand.

"Would you like to meet your son Ms. Hudson?" nurse asks.

I look at Ryan and I see so much love in his eyes for his son and me. I also see the images of him teaching him how to skate, taking him to hockey practices and maybe following in his dad's foot steps.

"Please I have been waiting nine months to meet this little guy," I say holding out my arms.

The nurse puts him in my arms and I feel this swell of emotion, this undying love that I will have for this little guy until the end of time.

"He is perfect Doc, you did good," Ryan says with a smile.

"I am sorry that you had to miss the celebration with the team. I guess this little guy is as impatient as his dad," I say laughing.

"This is far better than anything that happened before this little man's birth," Ryan says kissing his son on the forehead.

"Have you two picked a name for him," the nurse asks.

"Jason William Anderson," I say looking at the nurse.

"He is perfect, thank you for making me a father. This little guy is the luckiest kid I know," Ryan says giving me a kiss.

"I love you so much," I say.

"Right back at you Doc," he says smiling.
