《10 Seconds Left in Overtime (Anderson Series #1)》Dinner

I rang the door bell and waited. Looking around at the outside of the house. It was a big house. Definitely too big for just once person who is barely home, but that was Ryan. Go big or go home, he used to say as a kid.
Just as I went to ring the bell again the door opened.
Ryan stood there smiling. He was wearing a dark pair of jeans, that fit him very well and a casual, yet dressy button up shirt. He looked amazing, but then again he always did.
I smiled " Nice place. Do I get to see the rest of it?"
He laughed and moved out of the way so I could step in.
"Sorry about making you wait out here. I just had to finish up cutting something," he said running his hand through his hair.
"It's fine. I wasn't waiting too long." I said looking around the inside of the house and sneaking glances at him.
"You look beautiful. I mean wow." Ryan said letting his eyes linger on me.
"You clean up nicely too Anderson." I said jokingly and smoothed down his shirt by running my hands over the front of his chest.
Inside though, I really wanted to tell him how extremely hot he looked.
He smiled and grabbed my hand. "Let me give you the grand tour of this place. We have a couple of minutes before dinner is ready."
I followed him down the hallway to a big living room with a huge sectional couch and an even bigger tv.
"What there wasn't a bigger tv that you could have bought?" I said jokingly to him.
"It's not that big and besides I get to see how handsome I look when I re-watch my games," he says jokingly.
"Always modest Ry, glad to see nothing has changed," I say playfully punching his arm.
He smiles at me and then shows me the kitchen that would be any chef or bakers dream.
"Wow, do you actually cook in here?" I say looking around.
"I do, are you going to bust my balls about every room in the house?" He asks smiling.
"Maybe, we'll just have to see," I say looking at him.
We move downstairs and he shows me his own personal gym space and man cave with a games room and home theatre set up.
"No way Ry, you have a PAC MAN machine? This was my favorite game. Remember spending hours at the Wellington Restaurant playing it?" I say running my hand over the game.
"I do. I also remember how pissed off you were when I bet your high score," he says laughing.
"Hey I worked really hard to see my initials at the top and played what like five games and beat it?" I say smiling.
"It was actually only three games," he says flexing his muscles and smiling.
"Yeah, yeah. What is next on this tour?" I ask.
We walk back upstairs to the main level and he stopped, "So yea that was the main level and basement. Out back there is a pool and a fire pit area."
"What no tour of the upstairs? I wanna see where the magic happens." I say in a joking manner.
He cocks his eye brow "Where the magic happens, eh? What are we back in high school with that term."
I walk over to the stairs. "Are you going to show me or not? Cause I can just go find out on my own." I say with a smirk.

"Give me on second to turn down dinner and set the timer on my phone. Wouldn't want you to come all this way and I burn dinner." He says smiling.
He hurries back into the kitchen and does what he need to do and comes back.
"Lets continue with the rest of the tour. After you," he says motioning to the stairs.
I start to to climb the stairs and turn around and catch him checking out my ass. I smile and blush a little and he just gives me a little wink.
Ryan shows me the upstairs. There are 4 bedrooms there with 2 being guest rooms, 1 being an office space for him and the biggest being the Master.
"So I guess this is where the magic happens Doc." He says opening the big double doors to his room.
It's a nice master bed room with a California king bed. A huge walk in closet and an ensuite that I would die for.
"You did good Anderson." I say.
Looking at all the pictures he has on his dresser, I find the one of us back from high school when we all went to the junior prom.
"Oh god, why did you ever keep this picture? I look terrible," I say blushing as I pick up the picture and look at it.
He walks up behind me, leaning over my shoulder and pressing his body against mine. His arm reaches around my body and takes the picture from my hand.
"Actually I think you look pretty and I keep it here because it reminds me of how much fun we had that night. Whenever I was missing you I would look at this picture and think of how much fun we had." He whispered in my ear.
I felt tears pricking at my eyes. This is the Ryan I remember. The one that was kind and sweet and would never hurt me.
He backed up and I turned around and smiled. Looking at the man who whole heartedly has my heart still.
"I am so sorry about that night you overheard me say the stupidest thing I have ever said. As soon as the words let my mouth I regretted them. I don't know why I felt I needed to impress people I didn't even know, " he says putting his hand on my cheek and wiping the tear that has slipped from my eye.
"When you left for University and didn't speak to me I got angry, but it was never directed at you. It was at me for being so stupid and losing you and your friendship," he continues to say.
"I tired to fill the whole you left in me with drinking and women, but it didn't work."
"It hurt like hell that you weren't in my life anymore and I didn't know how to deal with it. I am so glad that you agreed to have dinner with me a talk and catch up."
I look up at Ryan and it's hard to hold in the tears that stinging in my eyes, so I just let them fall and he wipes them all.
"I have waited so long to hear you say those words to me. You have no idea how much", I say.
"You broke my heart when I heard what you said and I know I should have given you the chance to explain, but I just shut down to guard what pieces I had left of my heart," I say to him, just needing to get this all out.

"I have missed you so much over the last 6 years and I would like nothing more than to become friends again. I accept your apology", I say with a smile.
He smiles back. Just staring at me for a moment and before I realize what is happening he is leaning in and it looks and feels like he wants to kiss me. His lips are so close to mine. Hovering over them. I feel his breath on my skin. Just then the timer on his phone goes off.
"Fucking great timing", Ryan says pulling back.
I smile, "Well apparently this is where the magic happens, so maybe we just got caught up in that" I say trying to lighten the mood a little.
"Oh Doc, you have no idea what magic goes on in the room and one day I would very much like to show you." He says winking at me as he walks out of the room to check dinner.
I stand there a little stunned at what he just said to me and watch as he leaves his bedroom. I quickly follow him downstairs and back in to the kitchen.
Ryan is in there plating all the food. I sit at the island and ask him if there is anything I can help with?
"Can you grab the wine out of the fridge and the glasses are on the counter there. We are going to eat on the back patio if you want to bring them out there," he says looking over his shoulder and smiling at me.
"Sure I can do that," I say as I get everything he asked for and set it out on the table.
We sit down for dinner on the patio out back. Loving the quite and view of his home.
He made my favorite dinner. Chicken Burritos with a taco salad.
"Ry this is so good. I never knew you could cook," smiling as I eat.
"Well there is much you need to learn about adult Ryan," he says with that charm I have seen him put on with so many girls.
"Oh like what? Enlighten me about all I must know," I say daring him and challenging him.
"All in due time. I can't give it all away at once. I have to have leverage for you to come back over," he says smiling.
I blush a little and feel those damn butterflies again. He actually wants me to come back over again.
We finish up dinner and just sit there on the patio talking for hours and catching up on each other's lives.
I smile as this is just like old times. Alley and Ryan just comfortable with one another. The past being left in the past after that heartfelt apology.
I can't help, but think about that almost kiss back in Ryan's bedroom though. Was it just getting caught up in the moment of an apology or did he really want to kiss me? Because it felt like so much more.
Before we know it time has gotten away from both of us. I look down at my watch and it's 1:00 am.
"Shit, Ry it's 1:00 in the morning and I still have a 45 minute drive back. I have to head out," I say getting my purse.
"Just sleep here tonight," he says grabbing my hand.
"I mean, I have two extra bedrooms and you can borrow some sweats of mine to sleep in," he says blushing a little.
"I don't know? I mean I have Finn at home and all," I say.
"Who is Finn?" he says is a rather jealous tone.
"He's my dog. Who did you think he was?" I say with a smirk.
He blushes a little and runs his hand through his hair.
"Were you a little jealous Anderson?" I say teasing him.
"No, I just didn't know if you had a kid or something," he says trying to cover up his jealousy.
"If I had a kid don't you think I would have told you by now?" I ask smiling.
"Maybe, I don't know?" He says all defensive.
I just laugh a little and smile at him.
"Could you get someone to look after him? It's late and I would be worried about you driving home by yourself," he says.
"I mean, I can see if my neighbour can swing by in the morning and let him out and feed him. Her kids love to take care of him when I have to work late," I say taking out my phone.
"Hey Jenna, do you think you could go over tomorrow morning and let Finn out and feed him for me? I am staying over night at a friends," I hit send.
"Sure thing. Wes will be happy to see Finn. He loves that little guy like it was our own. Have fun at your friends house, but be safe," she texts back.
"Thanks you are life saver, but it's not that kind of friend," I text back giggling.
"Alright, all set. You have me for the night," I say realizing how it sounds and blushing a little.
"I mean not like that, just that I'll stay and sleep in the guest room."
"You are cute when you stammer and are embarrassed. Let's get you to bed," he says as a playful smile comes across his face.
"In the guest room of course. Unless you feel like having a sleep over like we did when we were kids?"
"I don't think that would be appropriate as adults," I say.
"Why not? It's just two friends sharing a bed like old times," he says as we head up stairs.
"As much fun as that sounds, I'll just take a guest room," I say walking behind him.
"Alright suit yourself," he says heading into his room to grab me some clothes to sleep in.
He comes back and hands me some sweat pants and a t-shirt.
"Pick any room you want," as he wraps me in a big hug. After a minute I pull back a little. Feeling how tightly he is hanging onto me like I am going to slip away.
I look at him and smile. He pushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"I really want to kiss you right now," he says looking at me with this lustful gaze.
"Ry, we can't. I can't cross that line as much as I really would like to. I am still your doctor. You want the best for your surgery and I am it and if we cross that line I can't do the surgery," I say stepping back away from him.
"Fuck, why do have to be so damn ethical and right all the time. Do you know how much more sexier it makes you?" he says licking his lips.
"Good things come to those who wait. If you still feel this way after the surgery then we'll go from there," I say not really knowing what else to say.
"Oh there is no doubt I will Doc. I think deep down I always have felt this way. I just needed a kick in the ass to realize it," he say as he leans in a kisses my forehead.
"Now go before all the rest of my self control is gone," he says opening the guest bedroom door.
I walk in and close the door. I get changed quickly and get under the covers. Looking up at the ceiling wondering what the hell just happened. Either the alcohol really got to Ryan or he really does feel something like I always have.
I toss and turn a little before I finally feel sleep taking over and I try to turn off my brain for a little bit.

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.

This is a writing exercise so chapters are mostly first drafts, otherwise I'd end up rewriting each chapter for a month or more with no real changes. My goals are a steady output by not using perfectionism as a procrastination method. I've already got laziness and additions to reading/games, I don't need a 3rd reason to procrastinate.][Disclaimer 2: The main character is a more normalized version of me, with 170% less laziness installed, and a few buffs like greater courage. Other things like having a job are partially similar. No other characters are based on real people because most people I know are either too normal to be useful or too fucked in the head to be believable.]
