《10 Seconds Left in Overtime (Anderson Series #1)》Getting Ready

I woke up the next morning to the sound of Finn barking like a mad man. It was 10:00 am, I guess I had slept through his previous attempts to get me up that morning.
I got out of bed and walked to the back door to let him out.
I threw the kettle on as I tried my best to open my eyes. I guess the long day yesterday in surgery really drained me. It was that or how I couldn't sleep due to my dinner date with Ryan tonight. I am not too sure what you would call it.
As I was deciding on what to have for breakfast my phone pinged and I looked down. It was Mer, she wanted to know if I wanted her to stop by later to help me get ready for, in her words "my hot date".
I smiled and texted her back "Sure come by around 3:00pm", as I didn't have to leave till at least 5:00pm.
She texted back , "I'll be there at 2:00pm, we need to have lots of time to choose the right outlift".
I just rolled my eyes and text back a thumbs up. This made me a little more nervous. Was this a date?
I tried all morning just to relax and not think too hard about it, after all it was just two old friends getting together to catch up after 6 years. That's all it could be anyways. Even if we both felt more, I was his surgeon and if it went past friends he would have to get a new one to do the operation.
I went for a long run as I still had some time before Mer was going to come by. I needed to clear my head and I was getting stir crazy in my house. By the time I got back I had exactly 30 minutes to shower before Mer cam by.

I hopped in the shower and got cleaned up. I threw on some sweats and combed out my hair. Just as I was finishing up, I heard a knock at the door and Finn start to bark.
I ran downstairs and opened it up. Mer was there with her extra large bag of make up and a smile. I shook my head.
"You know Mer, I do own make up you know", I said smiling and letting her in.
"I know, but this way we have options. I know you just have the basics," she said smiling and walking into the house.
"Ouch Mer, Ouch," I say, faking a knife to the heart.
"Well let's get started. First off where is he taking you?" She asked.
"About that. I am kind of going over to his house and he is going to cook for me." I say, knowing what is coming next.
"Oh my god this is huge. He's cooking for you at his place? This is very good." She says with the biggest smile.
"Now before you get all excited. We are doing this so it's more private, so we are not hounded by the paparazzi. There is nothing more to it." I say trying to hold her back.
"No no sweetie, he is trying very hard to impress you. You don't just do that for an old friend. I think there is more to his motive." She says getting all giddy.
"I think you are getting way ahead of yourself and even if there is something there. I can't go there. As his doctor it's not right and if something were to happen he would have to get a new surgeon and he wants the best. So we cannot be anything more than friends." I say with a little regret in my voice.

Mer gives me a big hug and says "Well let's just get through tonight and go from there."
We head into my room and start to go through some outfits. I tell her that I don't want to go too formal as it's at his house and I want to be comfortable. She looks through my stuff and starts to work her magic.
After about 7 different outfits and nothing that we both can agree on. She puts out on last outfit for me. It is skinny dark washed jeans with a black fitted top. I slip it on and it looks great. Causal, but not too casual. I smile and let her know it's perfect.
Mer then took to doing my makeup and hair. She choose to do a natural look with a little bit of pop in the eyes and lips. My hair was left down, with a waterfall braid.
"Oh Mer it's all perfect. Thank you so much." I said staring at myself in the mirror not really recognizing the girl looking back.
"You are more than welcome. Now go and let that man see what he let walk out of his life 6 years ago." She says with a smile.
I give her the biggest hug and walk her out to her car. I wave bye and turn and get into my little car. I plug in Ryan's address into my GPS and start the drive to his place.
On the drive there I start to think about all things that are going through my mind. Is this a date? Are his feelings more than just a friend? Am I going to get my heart broken again if he just wants to be friends?
I shake my head and try not to obsess top much about all these questions until I actually sit down with him and talk about things.
I get to the gated community that Ryan lives in and pull up to the guard tower.
"Who are you here to see miss and your name," the guard asks me.
"Alison Hudson and I am here to see Ryan Anderson," I say smiling at the guard.
"One moment please," he says and I see him pick up a phone and call Ryan.
I sit there looking around at all the houses and think to myself how beautiful they all are and how far Ryan has come from that little boy from Sioux Lookout.
"You are good to go Ms. Hudson. Mr. Anderson is expecting you, but he says no need to be so formal next time and just say Alley," he says with a smile and a little laugh.
"Thank you so much and I will remember that for next time," I say giving him a smile back and a wave.
The GPS takes me through a row of big houses and I still cannot believe that Ryan lives here.
I pull up in front of Ryan's house around 5:45 and sit there for a minute and try to compose myself and prepare myself for this dinner.
It's just dinner with your oldest friend Alley, I keep repeating to myself. Yeah your oldest friend who you have been madly in love with since you were 16 I say back to myself.
I get out after what seems like forever and walk up to the nice modestly sized house. I bring my hand up and ring the door bell and wait for Ryan to answer.

Godfather Of Champions
This is a story about the pursuit of victory.— «I subscribe only to the theory of victory. I only pursue victory. As long as I am able to obtain victory, I don’t care if it’s total football or counterattack. What is the ultimate goal of professional soccer? In my opinion, it is victory, and the pinnacle of victory is to become the champions. I am a manager. If I don’t wish to lose my job or be forgotten by the people, there’s only one path for me to take, and that is to lead the team in obtaining victories, in obtaining championship titles!»The main character was not well-liked by people.— «⋯We conducted a survey which had been deemed by Manager Tony Twain as extremely meaningless. In a random street survey conducted, ninety-three percent of those surveyed chose the option ‘I hate Tony Twain’, while only seven percent chose the option ‘This person is rather decent, I like him’. It is worth noting that nobody chose the option ‘Who is Tony Twain? I don’t know him’. Mark, do you know why Manager Twain felt that our survey was very meaningless?» Parker, a reporter from laughed loudly and said when he was being interviewed by BBC.But there were also people who were madly in love with him.— When Tony Twain was forced to talk about the survey conducted by during an interview, his reply was : «I am happy, because Nottingham Forest’s fans make up seven percent of England’s population.»And he did not seem to care about how the others saw him.— «What are you all trying to make me say? Admit that I am not popular, and everywhere I go will be filled with jeers and middle fingers. You all think I will be afraid? Wrong! Because I am able to bring victory to my team and its supporters. I don’t care how many people hate me and can’t wait to kill me, and I also won’t change myself to accommodate the mood of these losers. You want to improve your mood? Very simple, come and defeat me.»His love story had garnered widespread attention.— «Our reporters took these pictures at Manager Tony Twain’s doorsteps. It clearly shows that Shania entered his house at 8.34pm and she did not leave the house throughout the night at all. But Manager Tony Twain firmly denies, and insists that that was merely the newest-model inflatable doll which he had ordered. He was the number one star of the team.— «⋯ Became the spokesperson of world-wide famous clothing brands, shot advertisements, frequented the fashion industry’s award ceremonies, endorsed electronic games, has a supermodel girlfriend. His earnings from advertisements exceed his club salary by seventeen times, owns a special column in various print medias, publishing his autobiography (in progress), and is even said that he is planning to shoot an inspirational film based off his own person experiences! Who can tell me which part of his life experiences is worthy of being called ‘inspirational’? Hold on⋯. Are you all thinking that I’m referring to David Beckham? You’re sorely mistaken! I’m talking about Manager Tony Twain⋯.»He was very knowledgeable about Chinese soccer.— «⋯ I’ve heard about it, that Bora gifted four books to his manager Mr. Zhu before your country’s national team’s warm up match. After which, the team lost 1:3 to a nameless American team from Major League Soccer. The new excuse that Mr. Zhu gave for losing the match, was that Bora gifted «books» (‘books’ and ‘lose’ are homophones in the Chinese language). Here, I recommend that you guys find out what that one specific book is. Which book? Of course the one that caused you all to score a goal. After that, tell me the title of the book. Before every match, I will gift ten copies of that same book to you. In that case, won’t you all be able to get a triumphant 10:0 win over your opponents every time?» An excerpt taken from Tony Twain’s special column in a certain famous Chinese sports newspaper. He was loved and hated by the press.— «He has a special column in at least four renowned print media, and he is able to get a considerable amount of remuneration just by scolding people or writing a few hundred words of nonsense weekly. While we have to contemplate hard about our drafts for three days before our boss is pleased with it. In an article inside his special column, he scolded and called all of the media ‘son of a bitch’, announcing that he hated the media the most. But every time he publishes an article, we flock towards him like flies which had spotted butter. Why? Because the readers like to read his news and see him scold people. I dare to bet with you, and Manager Tony Twain knows clearly in his heart as well, that even though he says that he hates us, he knows that the present him cannot do without us. Similarly, we also cannot do without him. Is this ultimately considered a good or a bad thing?» Bruce Pearce, a reporter from said with a face of helplessness when talking about Tony Twain. But no matter the case, his players were his most loyal believers.— Gareth Bale, «No no, we never had any pressure when playing on our home grounds. Because the pressure is all on the manager. As long as we see him standing by the side of the field, all of us will feel that we will be able to win that match. Even the football hooligans are like meek lambs in front of him!» (After saying this, he began to laugh out loudly)The reply from George Wood, the team captain of Nottingham Forest, was the most straightforward. «We follow him because he can bring us victory.»The legendary experience of Tony Twain, the richest, most successful, most controversial manager with the most unique personality!Debuting this summer.Thank you for reading.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
