"Vittore I'm fine," I grumbled to the hovering Italian as I pushed myself off the side of the hospital bed.
Mr. big bad and scary had carried me all the way to the hotel's infirmary. I don't exactly know how he managed to get me a doctor but with the fear radiating off the people who came towards us, I suspected it wasn't of peaceful means.
Vittore grumbled in protest under his breath as I stood up on my two feet and when he reached out to put me back on the bed, wouldn't be the first time, I slapped his arms away.
"For fuck's sake they said I was fine. Just a minor head injury and some minimal blood loss. That's it," I argued. Yeah minimal blood loss was a lot for me. I was thinking of the pills that were now at the penthouse that I desperately needed to take.
Vittore rolled his eyes and I decided to change the subject before things got messy.
"What does it mean? The Raven," I asked.
"The Ravens are a small mafia that's been operating for a few years now. It's mostly still in the recruiting stage," Vittore told me and I nodded walking out of the infirmary, people sure to avoid my path.
"If it's still in the recruiting stage, how are they this sneaky. They convinced Sante to attack and they killed Lesedi," I sighed. He was going to give me the information I needed too.
"Their Don doesn't show his face much but I've seen him once or twice," Vittore said as we got closer and closer to the hotel room where Alexa and Maddox were waiting.
"Good so we just find him, kill him and bam! Case closed," I said, rubbing my hands together.
"Its not that simple," Vittore reminded me and I rolled my eyes. "The Raven's Don is always hidden. No one really knows where he is unless he wants to be found."
"So we get to Sante right? That's what I'm hearing," I said as Vittore opened the apartment door for me and I walked inside.

"Yeah and I have a plan."
"Dalia!" My eyes widened as Lily came towards me for a hug but I stepped back and right into Vittore's chest. His hands landed on my shoulders to steady me as I held a hand out to the peppy blonde.
"Injured bitch over here," I said pointing to the bandage on my head and the one around my hand where the fucker stabbed me.
"Oh... right. Sorry," Lily mumbled with a blush and stepped back.
"Where have you been anyway?" I asked because I was sure she was supposed to be here with us when we were getting information from Lesedi.
"I told her to distract Lesedi's guard," Vittore said and that's when I was aware how close we were. His breath fanned against me when he talked and I could feel the rumble in his chest at every word. I quickly stepped to the side but made the move as inconspicuous as possible.
"How'd that go?" I asked her settling down on one of the couches. I honestly wanted to rip off the caddy girl uniform I was still in.
"He's dead so..." Lily murmured and settled next to me. Alexa was on the balcony, talking lowly on the phone so none of us caught the words she was saying and Maddox was missing.
"Where's Maddox?" I asked.
"Cleaning up the body," Vittore said and pulled his phone out of his pocket, scrolling through something, his dark eyes glaring at the screen. Wait... not glaring. Squinting. Huh.
"Speaking fo cleaning up the body," I started. "The one of the guy who killed Lesedi was dragged away."
"That was suspected. I wouldn't leave evidence behind," Lily murmured and rested back on the couch, a sigh slipping from her lips as she massaged her fingers.
Vittore cursed in Italian under his breath and my brows rose at the suggestive language before he walked over to the doors that led to one of the bedrooms. I sighed and pulled myself up after a while, following him. I slowly opened the door, seeing him typing furiously on the screen.
"Something wrong?" I asked getting in and closing the door so the others couldn't over hear the conversation.
"The Ravens hit one of my shippings," he growled out, running a hand through his hair. "I've just lost 5 million worth of fucking drugs."

I looked at the Italian with a flat face. "Aren't your bank accounts in like hundred billions or something?" I asked casually.
"They are but that's not the point," he said and I paused for a second. They were? "Him raiding what was mine is a clear sign that he's testing my leadership."
I blinked, settling down on the bed as I watched Vittore stare at his screen.
"I didn't know mafias also had like a fucking bro code or something of rule," I said lowly because what he just stated seemed ridiculous. I still wanted revenge though.
"Look, we'll just get him back. Take something from him that he cares about," I randomly commented with a shrug.
"We'll take his wife," Vittore mumbled to himself, gears turning behind his dark eyes. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Are you fucking serious? He's a mafia Don with all the money he could wish for. His wife means nothing to him. Nothing. Men like him probably have hoes on speed dial. He's just another Matteo."
"We aren't taking his wife because he cares about her, we are taking her because we need a spy," Vittore pointed out.
"I'm listening," I murmured, resting my arms behind me on the bed. This idea seemed better than most.
"Of course his wife wouldn't be willing to give up sensitive information on him and we just can't send a girl to sleep with him because I'm sure he's smart enough not to reveal his secrets to a random woman," Vittore started.
"So we send in a doppelgänger. It seems like the most logical solution," I added with a nod of my head. "First, what does his wife look like, where does she usually go... we'd need so much information on her to actually stage something."
That was the issue. It seemed like so much work.
"I'll put Maddox and Alexa on it," he mumbled, almost to himself.
I sighed. "But that plan sort of sucks. It would take weeks for them to get any information."
"Well in those weeks, we'll find Sante and deal with him and the men in his mafia and then there's the mafia convention."
"Mafias have conventions?" I asked, the image popping into my brain being some sort of ball with people dressed in black.
"Once a year as a way to keep peace with all the different and powerful leaders in the countries."
"That's bullshit," I commented with a roll of my eyes. "People don't really expect that to work do they?"
"No but it's the best place to make alliances with different groups. I made most of mine from there."
"So... the Raven's Don will be at this... convention?" I asked and Vittore sighed.
"Hopefully. Not many go."
"Fine, we'll test our luck. When is it?"
"Four weeks give or take. They never have the same day for security purposes."
"So we'll go together..." I started but Vittore shook his head.
"You can only go with me if you're my Dona," he told me and my mouth slightly dropped open.
Right. There's that.
"You sure?" I asked sitting straighter and resting my hands on my lap. "Don't Dons just bring their sluts and wing it?"
"No. It's a strict event, Dons and Donas only. Plus..." Vittore moved closer, bending down to rest his hands by the bed on either side of my body, peering closely into my eyes. "The only one who is ever going to call you a slut is me when you come begging for what your body obviously wants tesoro."
Vittore lifted his hand and placed it on my cheek, his thumb brushing over my bottom lip. His dark eyes followed his actions as he slightly pulled my lip down with his finger. My heart was hammering in my chest and my whole body had gotten warm from the contact.
Wait a damn minute.
My senses came back to me and I slid backwards on the bed, rolling to the other side, getting on my feet. I was slightly out of breath and my mind was in shambles as I stood on weak knees.
"I... I'm just going to go now," I said quickly as Vittore slowly straightened his posture. Then I made a run for it out of the room.
Alexa and Lily were talking but stopped when they saw me practically jogging to the bathroom.
"You good Dalia?" Lily called out.
"Peachy!"

Arnar the Dungeon
Arnar is a dungeon core. Everybody knows dungeons are evil, man-eating entities hell-bent on killing and absorbing whatever wanders inside their depths. The problem is no one ever told him that. Well, the truth is no one ever told him anything and he refused powers-that-be when they tried to make him into the proper dungeon. That should teach them not resurrect people into dungeon cores. Now it is too late. He has a perfect plan to become the best dungeon on the continent and nothing will stand in his way. Especially something called common sense. Disclaimer of sorts: I am non-native English writer that used to write mostly for himself. After my last computer decided to die on me taking all my works with it I lost the desire to write for quite a long time. This is my attempt to go find motivation to write again as this was my favourite hobby. The idea is to be held accountable. As for being non-native, I don't believe that should be a major issue as I feel my proficiency in English to be sufficient enough to not be too much of the distraction. That said, be forewarned that the rules governing punctuation are beyond my grasp. All I can do is try not to completely suck at that. As mentioned this is an attempt to motivate me to write again so any message, encouragement or constructive criticism will go long way. The cover was created with the help of http://fantasynamegenerators.com/emblem-creator.php I hope you will enjoy my story.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
