《First one》Eighteen: he's my ice cream

The one person I was trying to avoid that evening was sitting at one of the booths. Drew's warm brown eyes were focused on me and my uniform and I felt exposed. He had seen it during my first shift, he and a dozen other men, but knowing he actually likes me made me feel very ashamed of my attire. I rolled over to him, my mind going over every possible exchange of words. Don't get me wrong... I like him, I do. But it seems that I also like Lukas and I just don't know how to handle it. I had to tell him eventually...I can't lie...

I lied too much for one lifetime, trying to cover up my situation at home. Isabella can we do the group assignment at your home? Oh, sorry our home is under construction. Can we watch a movie at your place? Sorry, our tv is broken. Come with us to that party? No, I can't I've got to look after my grandfather... I couldn't just say I'm not allowed, or I have to be there to clean up my parent's mess. Can you come to dinner for my birthday? Nope, I have to study for a test... which was another lie...I had to cook diner for my dad because if I didn't, I had to call in sick at school the next day, one can only cover up so many bruises. After a while they just stopped asking... I can't blame them. While rolling over to Drew's booth my mind wandered off to a place I rather not return. The closer I got to him, the bigger the smile on his face.

"Hi." He said giving me smile while his eyes observed every inch of me.

"Hi Drew, what are you doing here?" I asked politely, trying my best to hide my feelings but as much as my mind wanted to be with Lukas, somewhere there was a soft spot for Drew. His smile made me forget about what I eventually had to tell him. Without realizing I was smiling, happy to see him. He looked good, very good. His black shirt accentuated his brown eyes, making them appear lighter. They were more like a piece of timber smoldering in a fire, hot and passionate. His sleeves were rolled up just enough so the tattoo on his arm was visible. It was his signature, his very hot signature.

"Well, if the girl can't come to the date, I thought why not bring the date to the girl...and I was kinda hungry." He chuckled before taking my hand and pulling me closer to his table while he remained seated. His hand felt warm against my skin, his fingers soft and gentle, delicate almost. I quickly retrieved my hand before Gregory noticed. As much as I despised working at the diner, I needed the money. I better not get myself fired. I looked around but the coast seemed clear, there was no sign of Gregory who was probably in the back counting his Benjamins, sniffing at his success. The image of him with his head in a sack of money crossed my mind and made me mentally roll my eyes. Drew didn't seem bothered by the fact I let go of his hand, he seemed more understanding than upset.

"That's sweet Drew, really. What can I get you to eat?" I said, holding my notebook and pen in front of my chest. He took the menu in his hands and looked at it for just a second before putting it back on the table.

"You." He said with a grin on his face. Looking at my hands who were actually writing that down before I realized what he had said. Looking up from my notebook I was smiling at him, genuinely surprised by his playful comment.

"I'm not on the menu." I replied, blood rushing to my cheeks.

"Are you sure?" He moved in his seat, almost like he was nervous before turning back to me while wiping his hands on his jeans. 'Just a hamburger and a Pepsi." He said while I scribbled that down.

"As you please. It'll be right up." I said rolling back to the kitchen with a spark in my eyes Drew just reignited. Seeing him was making me forget about that other guy I also really like. They are just so different...It's like choosing between ice-cream and chocolate. Both sweet, both delicious, both making you feel in heaven when their taste hits you tongue. But where ice-cream is soft and soothing, with a rainbow of different flavors, chocolate is solid, sometimes bitter and it usually comes in two extremes either really dark and sharp or white and sweet. I like both, which is a problem when both the chocolate and the ice-cream absolutely hate each other for fighting over who got the cherry on top. And this cherry rather not be part of that milkshake.

As much as I wanted to spend all my time at Drew's table, I had other customers to serve. After taking orders on several tables I brought Drew's plate to his table.

"Here you go." I smiled, putting the plate in front of him. His eyes locked on my face, studying my every movement. Before I could disappear from the table, his hand wrapped around my bare leg, keeping me stationed next to him. His fingers set me on fire where his touch lingered as the back of his hand gently caressed the inside of my thigh.

"Sit with me, just for a second." He pleaded, looking up raising his full brows. His eyes almost begging while his hand still touched my sensitive skin, sending a shiver through my body.

"I have to work." I said shaking my head while my heart jumped right out off my chest to the empty spot in front of him.

"Just a little while?" He pouted. His adorable face making me swoon, turning me into a hopeless mess. I looked around and my guess was, Gregory was still stuck with his head in his safe, because he was nowhere to be seen.

"Just two minutes, but if you see my boss give me a heads up." I said while gliding into the seat in front of him with a huge smile on my face. I scrunched my nose at the thought that I was doing something I wasn't supposed to do. Look at me breaking all the rules in this place.

"Deal." He grinned before taking his hamburger in both his hands. When I was finally comfortable in my seat, I felt Drew's knee brush against mine. He looked at me with smoldering eyes, telling me my touch had an effect on him. He took a bite and all I could do was adore him while he enjoyed his food. I rested my elbows on the table and cupped my cheeks with my hands, admiring the sight in front of me.

"Don't move." He said softly before chewing down a piece of hamburger.

"What? Is there some bug on me? If so, get it off!" I freaked out, trying my absolute best not to move an inch. My eyes wide and the rest of my face frozen.

"Nope, there isn't." He grinned while I relaxed my face nudging his knee for almost making me pee my pants. I hate bugs.

"What is it?" I asked curiously frowning my brows and tilting my head to the side.

"Nothing, it's just the way you're sitting... I have never seen something that adorable." He smiled, showing his perfect pearly whites. Man, that smile, that's something else. When his comment hit the back of my brain it instantly made me blush, heat rushing to my cheeks as I tried to cover them with my hands. "Don't do that... Don't hide." He said before taking another bite while his legs grabbed a hold of one of mine, pulling it between his. My leg was trapped, caged by his firm calves. His warmth radiating through his jeans onto my bare skin, stirring up something inside of me. My gaze didn't want to break away from Drew who clearly was enjoying his meal but a voice coming from the kitchen disturbed my waterfall of thoughts.

"Isabella!" The voice coming from the other side of the diner echoed all the way to my ear. I looked around and saw a tall bald man's eyes staring me down from the kitchen. Oh, Shit Gregory. I tried to flee the booth, but my leg was still trapped between Drew's almost making me fall face first onto the floor. Luckily my hands grabbed onto the table keeping me safe from complete public embarrassment...

"I'll give you a ride home." Drew cooed just after I rolled away from the table. I heard him and turned around putting my thumbs up to let him know I was taking his offer. When I arrive at the kitchen I was prepared for the worst when facing the sadist and pervert who made us wear this ridiculous uniform.

"I don't freaking pay you to chit chat with the customers. Your job is to take their order when they get here, swing your ass while bringing their food and take their money before they leave." He sighed while looking angry at me with dollar signs in his eyes. "You get one more chance. Now back to work." He said raising his voice and making me feel really small. "You're lucky you're pretty." He muttered to himself, but I heard him loud and clear. My blood was boiling, and I wanted to turn around and tell him he's a pig for treating women like objects, but I needed the money too badly, so I bit my lip and swallowed the throbbing words down my throat. The rest of my shift I put up a fake smile waiting tables except for when I passed by Drew's booth, those times my smile couldn't be more real.

When I got out of the dressing room Drew was waiting for me outside, his shoulder leaning against the brick wall next to the back entrance.

"Hey stranger." He said while talking my hand an pulling me closer to him. I was facing him, looking up at his face, his expression relaxed and his eyes hooded. "I thought you were never going to leave that dressing room." He whispered, the vibrations of his voice waving past my cheeks, his eyes filled with something other than adoration.

"I'm sorry, getting out of those skates takes some time." I smiled, putting my arms around his neck, my body leaning against his. Without hesitation he puts his hands on my waist, his fingers sliding up under my sweater, leaving a tingly sensation along the way.

"I hope you didn't get in trouble with your boss, little rebel?" He teased before slightly pushing his lower body against mine. He leaned in, our faces mere inches apart.

"It's fine." I stared at his eyes, brown, dark chocolate eyes. Only he's my ice cream. Soft and soothing. His stare glided over my face and I could almost feel it burn into my skin, in the best way possible. One of his hands left my waist to trail up my arm all the way into my neck. His fingers gliding through my hair. He briefly licked his lips before pulling my face to his lips. His wetted lips glided over mine, his tongue quickly begging its way into my mouth while his hand pushed my head deeper into our kiss. Our tongues where dancing together, completely in sync. My heartbeat surprisingly slow while the rest of my body was rushing into the passionate kiss. The way Drew kisses was the complete opposite of how he acted. While he is soft and calm, his kisses are rough and greedy. Realizing we are kissing next to the back entrance where Gregory can catch us any minute, I pull back. But before I can Drew leans back in, attempting to continue the kiss me.

"Drew, I will lose this job if my boss sees us here like this." I said pushing him slightly back while he sighed deeply.

"You won't..." He said before doing another effort to kiss me again. "Come on Bella, I couldn't touch you during your entire shift. I want to be close to you." He whined, pulling me back against him, crushing the space I had put between us.

"Just, not here." I giggled as he kissed my neck. While my body was giving into his charms, some questionable red flags were popping up in the back of my head. Before I couldn't think anything of them his hand pulled me to the parking lot, his fingers laced around mine.

The last customers had left the parking lot and the lights of the diner went out, leaving Drew's black Dodge looking lonely in the lot. When we arrived at his car, I got into the passenger seat, putting my bag between my feet. Drew got behind the wheel but looked at me before putting the key in the ignition. He didn't start the car, instead he turned towards me and kept staring at me with hungry eyes...
