I didn't know how to react to what Cody said, but several minutes later, Oliver was knocking on my door.
He was saying something about Cody being three, he doesn't understand how those relationships work.
Then he offered for me to have the whole day off. Go out for a few hours. I stared at him in shock as he stated I should go see my male friend.
I stayed in my room for a little while until I picked up my phone and messaged Percy.
Up for a date?
Are you feeling better?
110%
Sure. I'll make reservations.
Okay what time?
About 5?
Sure.
I offered to make an early lunch for Cody and watched him at the bar stool as he ate his macaroni.
Why would he want me as his Mummy? He didn't even live here. But then again, I thought to myself, he never had a mother. He doesn't know what a mother does. He might just think that the first nice female to him could be his mother, wanting her to stay with him forever.
After Cody finished and I washed the dishes, I went to him and picked him up. I didn't know how to bring that topic up. Maybe I was better off letting Oliver handle it. Mr Black is after all, Cody's uncle.
"Hey, Cody." I said to him as we walked up the stairs. "I think Uncle Ollie is going to take you out for a few hours. Go out for dinner."
Cody looked excited. "Are you coming?"
I shook my head. "No, Cody. I have plans elsewhere. But I need you nice and clean and smelling like a proper little boy." I tickled his ribs as he giggled.
I ran him a big bubble bath and washed his hair.
We blew the bubbles all over the room and clapped our hands, making bubbles fly everywhere.
Cody laughed as the bubbles sprayed on the walls. I picked him up and wrapped a towel around him, taking him to his room.
"We have to dress handsomely." I told him as I pulled out some dark blue jeans and pulled them up on him. I found a nice button up shirt and placed it on him, counting each button, making Cody repeat after me.

I dried his hair and combed it. "Very handsome." I said as I smiled at him. I placed his socks on and placed a jacket over his shoulders. I carried him and his shoes down the stairs and to the kitchen. I sat him on the bench and did up his Velcro shoes. "Look at you." I grinned.
Cody sat up straight as he beamed at me.
"Come on. Help me pick something. I have to go out as well, and I need something nice." I said as I placed him on my hip.
We went out the back door. "Where we going?" He asked innocently.
"Before you came to stay, I was sleeping in here." I said as I opened the door. "This is my place."
I placed Cody down and took his hand, walking to the bedroom.
Cody looked around as he came with me. "It's small."
I giggled at him. "I know." I didn't mind it being small though.
I opened my closet and laid out some nice dresses on my bed. "Which one?" I asked the kid. Cody looked at them and pointed to a dark blue dress.
It was a low cut strapless sheath dress that was nearly floor length.
"Really?" I asked uncertain of Cody's pick.
"It's the only blue one."
I had to laugh. A boy, through and through, I thought. "Okay." I agreed and put the rest away. The weather was still at freezing point and I pulled out a pair of skin tone stockings and silver platform pumps. I placed them on the bed and went to my coats.
I pulled out a faux fur wrap. Cody ran his fingers through the fur. "Soft." He mumbled as he felt it again but on his cheek.
I put it on my dress and I sat down at the dresser in the room.
"What you doing now?" Cody asked innocently.
"I've got to dress up." I smiled as I applied the foundation to my face. Cody watched me, interested as I did my make up.
I winged my eye shadow and eye liner, applied my mascara and smacked my lips together after adding a heavy coat of dark red lipstick.
I then pulled the hair band out off my hair and quickly brushed the knots out. I flipped it to one side and twisted some bits and pinned them up. I watched Cody's reflection through the mirror as I placed another pin in my hair.

I teased some bits and puffed it out and stood away from Cody as I sprayed some hair spray.
"Come here, I'll put cartoons on." I offered as I walked out of the bedroom to my TV. I flicked through the channels till I found one and went back to the bedroom.
I finished playing with my hair and sprayed perfume on me. I sat in front of the mirror, staring at myself before I pulled away and picked up my clothes and shoes.
"Come on buddy." I called to Cody and turned the TV off. We went to the verandah and after I closed the door, I picked the child up in one hand, my clothes draped over my other arm as I held my shoes.
We went back through the kitchen door and upstairs. I put Cody down by his door. "Play with your teddy." I said softly to him. "I'm going to get dressed."
I went to my room and put the clothes on my bed. I looked at my phone. No missed calls, no messages. It was barely hitting four. I slowly stripped off my clothes and shoes and slid my socks off. I pulled on my stockings and a strapless bra. The stockings were a slight challenge.
I stepped in to my dress and shimmied it up me, then zipped it up. I fixed the dress so it sat perfectly as I fixed some hair up. I found some more pins in this room and tucked some more in to my hair.
I heard a small tap at my door and I opened it up. Cody stared up at me as I let him in. I left the door open and sat on my bed.
"You look really pretty." Cody smiled at me.
"Aw, thank you, sweetheart." I cooed at him as I twisted my heel on.
"Cody!" I heard Mr Blacks voice from downstairs.
"I think Uncle Ollie wants to go." I said as I smiled down at him. "You look very handsome." I brushed some hair off his eyes. He needs a hair cut. I'll take him to town tomorrow for one.
I stood up and took Cody's hand as we walked to the stairs. It was a bit harder for Cody to grip my hand as I was a bit taller than usual.
I had tucked my clutch under my arm and held the railing as we walked down.
"You look bew-tea-full." Cody said again. I looked at him as we went down the stairs. My coat was wrapped around my shoulders as I felt it tickle my chin.
"Cody buddy. Come on." Oliver called as he stepped out off his study. "We have to go. Cordie is -"
Oliver stared at me as I turned to him on the bottom of the stairs. I raised an eyebrow.
"Are you taking Cody to meat Cordie?" I teased as I bent down and kissed Cody's cheek, leaving a red stain on his skin. "Be good. Behave. Do as you are told." I said to Cody as I smeared the lipstick off his cheek.
"Okay." He whispered to me. "Why can't you come with us?"
I gave Cody a stern look. "Because Uncle Ollie is taking you to dinner to meet his," I looked up at Mr Black then back to Cody. "His lady friend. I'm going out to dinner to meet my male friend."
Cody looked quite shocked. I heard a knock at the front door and stood up straight. "That's my ride." I smiled as I went to the front door. I quickly slipped through it, closing it behind me.
"You look amazing." Percy said as he kissed my cheek.
"Not too bad yourself." I laughed as I took his hand and we went to the car. We both got in and buckled up when Percy looked out his window.
"Is that your boss?"
I followed his eye line and answered. Oliver stood at the top of the front stairs with his arms crossed, a dark look on his face.
"He looks pissed." Percy said as we drove to the security gate.
I shrugged.
"Tight security here. They had to ring your boss for clearance."
