《The House Keeper》6.

I rubbed my eyes as I slowly woke up. This bed was perfect. It was like one giant pillow. I was so warm and comfortable. Then I felt everything else.

I kept my eyes closed as I stretched. My feet hurt. Those new shoes. I won't be wearing them again. But those stocking socks were great, I couldn't feel the fabric. I wiggled my toes, I couldn't feel it because I wasn't wearing them.

Then I felt my bra. It was still on. I frowned. Why? I always go to sleep braless. Something isn't adding up. I don't remember going to bed...

My eyes shot open. The room was dark but huge. This, isn't, my, room...

I sat up. I was, no!

I peeled the blankets off me. I was fully clothed in my blouse and pants. My vest was gone though.

What the fu.... No, how the fu...? My eyes adjusted to the room. All curtains were closed except one, on the far wall,on the north side. I jumped out off the bed and remade it, finding my vest and shoes on the back of closest single sofa.

How the hell did I end up in Mr Blacks room? I patted myself down. No phone. I saw the alarm clock on the side of the giant bed. 11:03am. Great I start in an hour.

I picked up my stuff, but checked to make sure I was alone, I peeked in to the bathroom. Empty. Good.

I opened the door and softly shut it, my feet cringing on the cold floor. I turned around and my eyes widened. Oh no! Look at this mess! There were glasses and confetti every where. Napkins on the floor, plates littered the area. I took three careful steps, trying not to stand on the plastic tiny stars when I heard a door shut.

My eyes flew to the only guest room on this floor. Mr Black walked out, rubbing his forehead. If I stand perfectly still and hold my breathe, maybe he won't see me.

I closed my jaw and did that, but it didn't work. "Ah, Miss Kelly. I see you are up." He smirked at me.

"Uh... Yeah." I muttered as I quickly walked to the stairs, forgetting about the glittering objects on the floor. I raced down stairs and flew to the back door to my unit.

I had a million and one questions in my head as I stripped out of my clothes and went for the shower. I took all the pins out off my hair and washed the hairspray out, letting the warm water run down me.

How did I get up there? When did I go up there? Then a horrible thought went to my head. Did I just happen to crawl in to my bosses bed?

I groaned as I placed my hands over my face. I hope not.

I stepped out off the shower and dried myself before wrapping my hair up. I got dressed in my usual leggings and chucked on long square necked blue shirt. I quickly brushed my hair and placed my socks on before putting on my joggers. Already the comfy soles of my shoes helped relieve some of the pain in my feet.

I then realised I didn't have my keys. Oh no! I hope they are still in the kitchen. I quickly made my way back to the main house, the outside temperature wasn't as bad as yesterday.

As soon as I closed the back door, my jacket caught my attention, still draped over the dryer. I looked over the kitchen. There, next to the kettle were my keys and phone. I had a bar stool there, as I remembered sitting there with my coffee last night.

I picked them up and opened a drawer, grabbing a fresh apron. I tied it on and dropped the items in the pocket.

Mr Black was up, so I may as well make his coffee and lunch. I fried up some freezer fish and chips and placed the plate and coffee on a platter. I carried it to his study and knocked, noticing the door slightly ajar.

I pushed it open and Mr Black looked up. He was slightly surprised to see me. Was he expecting someone else?

"Place that on the table over there." He ordered and I obeyed, placing it on the low coffee table in front of his fire place.

I turned to leave and was startled when I saw Mr Black directly behind me.

"How did you sleep?"

Oh no! "I'm so sorry, sir. That won't happen again."

"Falling asleep at the kitchen bench?"

I saw that quick grin. "The kitchen bench?" I annunciated.

"Yes. I had some one from security carry you up." Mr Black waved his hand as he strode past me. I turned to him as he sat on the sofa, his legs crossed and looking high and mighty about himself.

"Then why there and not my room?"

Mr Black shrugged. "Your unit would have been a cold hell at that time in the morning. Inside here was a lot warmer."

He did have a point.

"Besides, last night was cold enough for snow."

But there was still a question hounding me. "Why your room and not a spare room?"

Suddenly a tall female with messy dark brown hair stepped in. Her make up was very light, like she had cleaned her face already, leaving behind some black eye liner and mascara. Her dress was gorgeous though.

It shimmered in gold with a straight across strapless bubble dress. She looked at me then Mr Black as she held her nude coloured pumps.

"I'm off." She brushed me off and smiled at Mr Black. "I'll see you for dinner tomorrow night?" She kissed Mr Black.

"Of course, Cordie, sweet heart. I'll pick you up at six."

I looked down at the floor in front of me, suddenly interested in the grains of the wooden floor.

"Okay, Ollie."

My eyes widened. Ollie? I saw the brunette pass me and closed the door. Then I heard the front door.

"Well, Miss Kelly, the spare room was taken." Mr Black stated as I snapped my head up to him.

Pig.

He was smirking as he chewed on a chip. I walked out and looked around. Clean up. What a mess.

The place was still very warm and I found the control pad for the house.

I loved this thing. The place was a 'smart house'. I turned the heat down to a comfortable 23 degrees. I got a roll of garbage bags from the kitchen and decided to work my way from the top to bottom of the place.

Each room that was open had rubbish in it, empty glassware, food. Oh dear. It's going to be a long day. I emptied out the rubbish and dragged the bin from one room to another, scrapping plates in to the bag and then the next.

I piled up the glasses and plates at the top of the stairs and carried on.

Before I knew it, hours flew by and I had completely cleaned up the top two floors. That way, all I had to do was put on the clean dust protectors minus Mr Blacks room.

I went to the kitchen and dug through the freezer, looking for something to cook. Closing the freezer, I ended up deciding on a tuna casserole and a Greek salad.

I pulled my phone out and shuffled through a drawer, I do recall seeing earphones in the junk drawer. I found them and pulled them out, untangling the hot mess.

I plugged them in to my phone and turning on the music, I started dinner. I sung lowly to myself as I put the pasta on to boil, before moving on to the salads.

After twenty minutes of preparing dinner, the dishes stacked, including from the party last night, and the casserole in the oven, I loaded up the dishwasher.

My feet hurt too much to do the dishes by hand. I plated up Mr Blacks dinner as a thought went through my head. That lady, Mr Black called her Cordie, called him Ollie. I giggled. Ollie.

I went to pick up Mr Blacks plate off the bench when I felt the ear plug being yanked out of my ear.

Yelling, my hand tightened on the plate as I picked it up and backhand threw the plate in the direction I assumed they would be at.

I stared with large eyes as I held my breathe, straight at Mr Black, my hands flew to my mouth. The plate shattered against the wall, food flying everywhere.

I don't know if he is angry, annoyed or even in a murderous mood. He was looking at the wall.

"Oh my God!" I tried not to shriek as I pulled the other ear plug out and placed my phone in my back pocket. I picked up a clothe and went to the mess.

"I'm so sorry!" I couldn't look at him. I picked up the food off the floor as I heard a deep hearty laugh.

I froze before frowning up at him. This wasn't funny! I didn't see how this was funny. "You're laughing?" I asked in shock.

Once Mr Black calmed down, he moved to the bench and got the smashed pieces of what was left of his plate. "Are you always so jumpy?" He smiled as he stacked the pieces on top of each other.

"No!" I defended myself. It was a yes, to be honest, I never was, I've noticed I have been since he had returned home.

"Admit it, I scared you half to death." I could wipe that smirk off his face if I wanted to. I ignored him and threw the salad in the bin.

"I wouldn't laugh if I were you." I snapped at him. "That was your dinner!"

That pulled him out off it. "Why did you do that?"

"I didn't mean to!"

"You threw my dinner against a wall!"

I picked up the plate shards from Mr Black and also discarded them.

"I would not have if you didn't sneak up on me."

"I didn't sneak." Mr Black stated.

"You scared me half to death!" I half yelled.

Mr Blacks face lit up. "So you admit it?"

I frowned again. What? Oh... I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders. "There is some casserole left over that I was going to use for your lunch tomorrow. I'll dish that out."

"No. Leave it. I'll go out and get something."

We both stared at each other. "Fine." I snapped. "I'm going to have my dinner." I went to the dryer and picked up my jacket.

I didn't wait for Mr Black to say anything as I stormed to my unit. The air was chilly as I held my jacket together while I opened the door.

My first action was turning the heater on and warming the place up. It was like an ice box in here. I rummaged through my tiny freezer for a frozen meal.

"Crap." I whispered. I had none left. I just stared inside the freezer, waiting for something, anything, to magically appear.

That's when I heard a knock on my door.
