"Melissa, I need you to tell us everything you know," Grayson said as Melissa sat down at the dining room table.
It's a few hours later, and we were at Melissa's house. My wrists healed from Cassandra's nails. I called Melissa before we arrived, and I told her everything from what happened today.
"Carson can't kill you as long as your witch abilities stay locked. Even if you transform into a tribid, he has to wait until a blood moon to steal your heart," Melissa said, not skipping a beat.
"The blood moon is in one week. I was suppose to become alpha that night," Grayson told us, making me look at him.
"Grayson, unless we get Carson by then, it's not safe to have a ceremony. Carson has killed hundreds of packs in his time with one flick of his finger," Melissa warned him, standing up from her chair.
"I'll let my pack know," Grayson replied with a scowl.
As we all sat there in silence, another vision came into my mind.
It was outside in the woods, and I saw Carson and myself. Carson had my arms behind my back, and we were quickly walking.
"Let go of me!" My other self exclaimed, trying to fight off Carson.
"You might be strong, but I'm stronger," he replied.
As the metal truck came into view, my other self tried to shift. I could see her silver eyes going in and out.
All of the sudden, a big blue blast came and it hit Carson. He let go of my other self, and he was thrown into a tree.
"Melissa," Carson grumbled before Melissa walked out of the woods.
"You will not hurt my god daughter," Melissa said before sending another blast at him.
It hit Carson, and he went unconscious. Melissa helped my other self up, and they hugged.
That's when I saw Carson stand up. He smirked as he sent a ball of fire towards Melissa and my other self.
Melissa saw this, and she pushed me out of the way. The fire ball hit her right in the chest, and she fell to the ground.
"Melissa!" My other self and I screamed at the same time.
"Brooklyn!" Grayson's voice brought me back to reality.

Grayson and Melissa were on either side of me, corcernly.
"Oh no. This is bad," Melissa said, shaking her head.
"What?" I asked as I stood up next to Grayson. He wrapped an arm around my waist, protectively.
"These visions. I-I should have realized sooner," Melissa replied, opening one of her witch books.
"Melissa, what's wrong?" Grayson asked her, getting a tad bit annoyed.
Melissa looked up from her book with a scared expression.
"Your witch abilities are breaking through. The visions are part of your witch side. I didn't realize it because light witches don't have them," Melissa explained, pushing hair behind her ear.
"I'm so confused. There are different types of witches?" I asked her, biting my lip.
"Yes. There are light witches like myself, and dark witches, like your father and Carson. Brooklyn, you are a dark witch."
"But haven't dark witches been gone for a hundred years now?" Grayson asked, trying to make sense of all of it.
"Yes, but Brooklyn's father was a dark witch hundreds of years before that. It just laid dormant because of his vampire side. It never disappeared," Melissa answered, flipping through a few pages.
"What's the difference between a dark witch and a light witch?" I asked Grayson as Melissa was reading something.
"Light witches and warlocks don't tamper with black magic. They don't deal with the dead, and light witches get their powers from nature unlike dark witches. Dark witches get their power from dark magic and their ancestors," Grayson explained, rubbing my sides, trying to comfort me.
"But I thought witches and warlocks get their magic from their ancestors, too?" I asked him, trying to take in this information.
"They only ask the ancestors for help when help is extremely needed. You see, dark witches were around way longer than light witches. It wasn't until mid fourteen hundreds when Angelica Heaven turned into the first light witch. She helped hundreds of witches and warlocks switch from dark to light. It is because of her there are light witches today," Grayson explained.
"Brooklyn, what have you seen in these visions?" Melissa asked me after a moment of silence.
"The first vision was Grayson dying, then you just died in my last vision," I answered with a shake of my head.

"Shit," she cursed under her breath. "Your witch abilities are breaking through fast."
"But you said she hasn't triggered it yet," Grayson argued.
"I thought she hasn't and technically she hasn't, but Carson has been channeling her," Melissa replied, showing us her book.
"Witch or warlock siblings can channel each other. They can help each other with their power. Sometimes we have witches and warlocks that are late bloomers, so we bring in their sibling to push their power out of dormant. That's what Carson has been doing," Melissa explained, showing us the paragraph.
"Yes, but he is miles away," I replied.
"It doesn't matter. All he has to do is chant a spell and channel you. He is using his power to help yours. And since he is an older warlock, he is extremely powerful so it probably wasn't hard for him to do."
"This is crazy. This is freaking nuts!" I exclaimed in frustration.
I walked out of the dining room, and I walked into the living room. I paced back and forth, trying to calm myself down.
"Brooks, we are going to figure this out. Carson is not going to lay a hand on you," Grayson told me, softly.
"It's not me that I worried about. So far, he is going to kill you and Melissa. I can't live without you, Grayson," I replied with tears in my eyes.
"The future changes all the time. We just have to make sure we don't do what happened in your vision."
"I'm scared, Grayson. Carson is ruthless and he doesn't care who lives or who dies."
"Come here," Grayson said with his arms extended out. I stepped into them, and he wrapped his arms around me. I did the same thing to him.
"I love you, Brooks," Grayson whispered in my ear. My eyes widen, and I smiled.
"I love you, too," I told him before kissing him on the lips.
"Carson has no idea what we are capable of. He thinks that we are weak, but that's not true. We are strong, and we will end him," Grayson reassured me.
I nodded before a yawn escaped my lips. Grayson chuckled lightly, and then he picked me up.
"Ah! Grayson, what are you doing?" I asked him as he carried me bridal style.
"Carrying you to your room. It has been a long day, and you are exhausted. You need rest," Grayson responded as he carried me up the attic stairs.
When we arrived to my bedroom, he said,"Wow. You have a beautiful room."
"Thank you," I thanked him as he put me on my bed. I got underneath the covers, and I yawned once more.
"Do you want me to go?" Grayson asked me, making me shoot straight up in my bed.
I shook my head,"Please stay."
He nodded before saying,"Don't give yourself a heart attack."
I smiled at his joke, and he climbed into my bed. I put my head on his chest, and he wrapped his arms around me. My eyelids were getting hard to keep open, and I felt exhausted.
"Sweet dreams, Brooklyn," Grayson said as I drifted off to sleep.
The last thing I remember is him kissing my forehead.

I woke up in the middle of the night. Grayson was asleep next to me, snoring like a bear. I silently giggled, and I slide out of his grasp.
"Brooks," Grayson mumbled.
"I'll be right back. I have to use the restroom," I told him, making him groan.
"Okay, hurry back," Grayson said before going back to sleep.
I quietly walked downstairs, not wanting to wake up Melissa, and I used the restroom. I washed my hands before the leaving the bathroom.
As I yawned, I heard a noise in the kitchen, making me furrow my eyebrows. Melissa is in her bed, asleep. I could hear her heartbeat. Grayson is in my bed.
Maybe it was a raccoon or something. I remember Melissa telling me about raccoons getting into her trash.
I walked into the kitchen to see if an animal gotten in, but I wrong.
Standing in the kitchen, twirling a knife on the counter, was none other than Carson himself.
He smirked,"Hello, little sister. We have some unfinished business to tend to."

The Mortal Acts
The Mortal Acts is an epic progression fantasy with a lower focus on training aspects and a great focus on discovering new ways of using powers intelligently. I've always been drawn to stories where characters use their powers creatively to overcome opponents and obstacles, and I think all the possibilities can provide a great playground for twists and turns. It's inspired by a variety of media, including Will Wight's Cradle, Hunter x Hunter, and Bioshock, so if you like the creative power use elements from those, come check it out. This is my first serial, and please feel free to leave comments and feedback. For backstory, behind-the-scenes, and other fun stuff, come chat on my discord! Become a patron to read up to 20 chapters ahead here! Blurb: Riven Morell cuts short his regular life at school and home when his mother falls terminally ill. Desperate to find a cure, he travels to Severance Frontier, a desolate land haunted by hordes of ghosts, witches, and demons collectively called the Deathless. But a miraculous cure doesn’t magically fall into his hands. Things are worse in Severance Frontier than Riven had assumed. Ghosts are banding together into armies, demons are kidnapping anyone who strays out of settlements, and witches are enslaving everyone left and right. Riven, of course, gets embroiled in the mess. Missions to curb the Deathless activity are one thing, but when it starts to look like this is just the beginning of a war that extends beyond the mortal realm, Riven has a hard time focusing on why he came to Severance Frontier in the first place. His mother is inching towards death with every passing day, but if he doesn’t face down the Deathless, what little civilization the Frontier holds will be overrun and destroyed. Thankfully, it looked like the Deathless might just hold the secret of the elusive cure.
