"I killed that girl!" I cried, making Melissa shake her head.

"Brooklyn, we don't know that, okay? You need to calm down," Melissa said, hugging me.

My phone rang, breaking us apart. I looked at the screen to see it was Julian. I pressed the answer button before placing it to my ear.

"Brooklyn, what happened last night?" Julian asked, frantic.

"What do you mean?"

"I smelled your scent at the crime scene where that girl was killed. Isabelle and I went to check it out, and I smelled your scent. Isabelle smelled it too, but she doesn't know that it's you," Julian explained, making my whole Brody shut down.

"Aidan already knew that we knew, and he stabbed me with something to make me shift. I had no control over anything. Everything went black, and I woke up in the forest. Please tell me everybody is okay," I said, remembering that Aidan set up an attack on them.

"We're fine. Just a couple of rogues. Did Aidan set that up?"

"Yeah. He did to keep you guys away from me."

"Brooklyn, listen to me, you need to leave town for a while. It won't be long until the pack finds you, and they will kill you on sight since they think you kept Caleb in his wolf state. They won't know that you're Grayson's mate," Julian warned me, and I nodded.

"There is something else you need to know. My old pack was attacked. Carson was there looking for me. What if he comes here?" I asked Julian. I couldn't let my friends and my mate die because of me.

"We will figure everything out, but our first thing to do is get you out of town and somewhere safe for a couple of weeks," Julian said, trying to calm me down.

"This town was my safe zone."

"I have a log cabin in West Virginia you can stay at for a while. Nobody has been up there since my husband died," Melissa said, overhearing our conversation.

"That would work. Brooklyn, get packed up, and get to the bus station as fast as you can before it's too late," Julian instructed me.

I nodded,"I will. God, this is going to hurt Grayson."

"You're doing this to protect him. He'll understand one day," Melissa said, turning off the tv.

"I got to go. Call me when you out of Florida. Bye Brooklyn," Julian said before the phone call ended.

I put my phone on the table before running to my room. Once I entered my room, I grabbed a suitcase. I put whatever my hands touched into the suitcase. If I was going to leave town, I need to do it now.

I was almost done when my phone dinged. I looked to see Grayson messaged me.

I'm sorry about last night. Can I make it up with lunch at the diner?

I blinked back tears as the thought of leaving Grayson flashed across my mind. I'm doing this to protect him, I told myself over and over.

"I got you a bus ticket to Texas. It leaves in a hour," Melissa informed me, walking into my room.

I nodded, staying quiet, as I tossed my phone on my bed. I finished packing the stuff I would need before closing the suitcase.

"I'm done packing," I said, quietly, sitting on my bed.

"Everything is going to be okay. Just lay low for a couple of weeks, and everything will be cleared up. I promise," Melissa said, placing a hand out for me to take.

I took it, and I stood up. I grabbed a hold of my suitcase. We walked outside, and I put the suitcase in the trunk.

I threw on a pair of shoes that I had left in Melissa's car as she started the engine. I shut my door, silently saying goodbye to the house that was becoming my home.

The ride was silent to the bus station. Once we got there, I quickly got out to grab my stuff.

The station was located in the woods. It was a dirt road where the sitting bench sat at. Nobody was here, and I thanked the moon goddess. I didn't want to deal with people right now.

Melissa walked with me over to the bench, and we both sat down, quietly.

"So Carson is my half brother?" I asked her, trying to get the rest of the story out of her.

Melissa nodded,"Yes. Your mother knew, and she was okay with it."

"Why didn't they tell me any of this?"

"I think they were waiting for your eighteen birthday, but..." Melissa trailed off, looking up at the sky.

Before I could reply, I heard this ringing in my ears. It was quiet at first, but then it grew louder. It was so loud, it started to hurt my ears and my head.

I held my ears, pressing them to my head, trying to get the ringing to stop. Melissa saw this, and her eyes widen as she read my mind.

"I always knew you were a traitor," a high pitched female voice said.

"Cassandra, you have no idea what's going on," Melissa said, standing up in front of me. The ringing went back down, but it didn't stop.

"She kept Caleb in his werewolf form, and she killed a human girl. She needs to pay for her crimes," The woman, Cassandra, said, scowling at me.

"If you let us explain, everything will make sense. Please just let us explain," Melissa pleaded, calmly.

"Once I kill her, witches and warlocks will be out of debt of the pack. We can be our own coven now. Don't you want that, Melissa?" Cassandra asked Melissa, taking a step closer.

"They saved our coven! We will always be in debt to them," Melissa replied, trying to reason with the woman.

The ringing stopped, but my head was spinning. Everything was twirling around and around.

"If you hand her over without a fight, I will talk to Alpha Alec about keeping you alive," Cassandra offered, making Melissa shake her head.

"I guess I will have to die."

"Your choice," Cassandra before whistling.

Then we were surrounded by three more warlocks. Melissa stood her ground, trying to keep me protected.

I stood up, and I walked beside Melissa. I wasn't going to let Melissa die or get hurt because of me. Enough people have already did that.

"Nobody is doing anything. I'm leaving town anyways," I told her.

"And leave us wide open for Carson? I think not," Cassandra said, making me surprise.

"You know Carson?" I asked her.

She nodded,"Who doesn't? The most feared warlock alive. Another reason why we should kill you right now. Once he realizes that you're dead, he'll leave us alone."

"You can't kill Grayson King's mate," Melissa argued, making Cassandra barrow her eyes at me.

"Well, I'm doing him a favor," Cassandra said before chanting a spell.

Melissa did the same, and a magical orb went around us. I looked at the orb in awe. It was clear, but if you try to touch it, it feels like being in a bubble.

Melissa continues to chant as Cassandra tried to strike the orb. A flash of orange hit the orb. It cracked it.

"Melissa..." I said, looking at the crack.

The other warlocks hit the orb with their powers, trying to break it. I could see that Melissa was trying her best to keep the orb up, but she was not strong enough to hold it up much longer.

All it took was one more blow, and the orb broke. It sounded like glass shattering. It sent Melissa and I backwards. I hit the ground with a loud thud.

I looked over to see Melissa unconscious. I listened to her heart to see it was at a normal pace.

Footsteps alerted me. I jumped up to see Cassandra and her friends circling around me like a predator does a prey.

"Just give it up, Brooklyn, and this will all be over quickly," Cassandra suggested with an evil look in her eyes.

"Never," I replied before using my super speed to speed out to the woods.

I climbed up a tree, standing on a thick branch. Cassandra and the others ran into the woods, looking around to find me.

"Split up. Kill her if you find her," Cassandra told the others who nodded.

They all went different ways, and I stayed where I was standing, waiting for the moment to make my appearance.

One of the warlocks was about to walk underneath my tree. I crouched down, waiting to jump on him. Once he stood directly underneath me, I jumped on his back, sending him to the ground. I heard a crack, and I'm pretty sure I broke his jaw.

I grabbed a hold of him by the collar. I picked him up, and I threw him across the field. I heard him grunt as he hit the ground.

One of the girl warlocks ran over to him. I ran past her before hiding behind a tree. I peaked out behind the tree to see her ready to fight me. She was walking in a small circle, looking at every inch and corner for me.

"Come out!" She yelled, raising her hands. She drew them back, and she pushed her hands forward. Fire came out of her hands. She was ready to shoot me with that.

I used my super speed, and I swept her off of her feet. She fell on the ground, and I dug my knee in her neck. Her hands went up to my knee, trying to push me off instead of using her powers.

She must be a new warlock.

I let my eyes turn silver, and her eyes widen in fear.

"I will give you one chance to leave. If you come back, I will end you. Do you understand?" I threatened, using my wolf voice.

She nodded, slowly. I stood up, and she did the same thing. Then she took of running.

I was so distracted with her I didn't hear the other guy sneak up on me. He wrapped a silver whip around my neck. It started to get hot, but it wasn't hurting me. Th only thing that was bad was that he was cutting off my oxygen.

I choked for air. I elbowed him in the nose, and he let go. The silver whip loosened, and I quickly got it off of me.

I gasped for air, letting my lungs take in the air. The guy chanted a spell, but I was quicker than him. I ran to a tree, and I bounced off of it. I reeled my fist back, and I punched him straight across the face. He spun before falling to the ground, unconscious.

Three out of four. One more and I could leave this nightmare.

I tried to find Cassandra's scent, but I couldn't smell her. I looked around, trying to find her.

Then everything in my body started to hurt. In fact, my body was burning. The ringing returned, and I screamed as my legs buckled underneath me. My hands went to my ears. My heart was pounding so fast that I thought it was going to burst from my chest.

Cassandra walked out behind a tree with her hand pointing at me. She tilted her head, admiring what she has done.

"I really don't want to do this, Brooklyn, but you left me no choice," I heard Cassandra say.

I laid my head down, trying to make the ringing and the pain go away. Cassandra withdrew a silver knife.

I coughed up blood, and the world was spinning. She crouched down beside me, pushing me over to reveal my chest.

"Silver knife with ravine. Surely this will kill you," Cassandra said with an evil smirk.

She raised the knife up, and I closed my eyes. Then a low growl made my eyes pop open. Cassandra's eyes widen with fear as she slowly backed away.

"I was doing this for you, for everybody," Cassandra said, placing her hand in front her to protect her.

The ringing grew faint, but my body was still burning. A large black wolf stood in front of me, shielding me from Cassandra.

Grayson.

Cassandra turned to run, but Isabelle stood in her human form, blocking her. The others were there too. The only other one that was in wolf form was Caleb. The rest were in their human form.

"That girl will bring the end of the supernatural. One day you are going to wish I killed her today," Cassandra spit, bitterly.

Isabelle punched her, sending Cassandra on the ground. Allison stood beside her, and she put handcuffs on Cassandra's wrists. I saw them before. They stopped warlocks/witches from using their powers.

"You will regret this," Cassandra promised.

Grayson growled, and Isabelle stabbed a needle into Cassandra's neck. Within a few seconds, Cassandra fell to the ground, unconscious.

The burning stopped, but my body felt weak and vulnerable. But I wasn't worried about that.

Right now I was worried about what was coming. I guess it's time to let my secret out.
