"I understand, Grayson. I will excuse you and your friends," Mrs. Quinn said before attending to her duties.
"Thank you, Mrs. Quinn," I replied before walking out of the office.
Now that I done that, the only thing I have to do know is tell Brooklyn a lie. Man, I hate lying to her, but it's to protect her.
If rogues found out I had a mate, they would know my weakness. I can't let Brooklyn get hurt because of me.
I walked into the cafeteria, but I didn't see Brooklyn anywhere. I clenched my jaw, and I stalked out of the cafeteria.
Where did she go?
I came around a corner where I bumped into a girl. But this wasn't a regular girl, this was my mate.
"Grayson!" Brooklyn exclaimed, surprisingly.
I scrunched my eyebrows,"You okay?"
She nodded, giving me a nervous smile. "Totally."
I raised an eyebrow,"You sure? You sound nervous."
She nodded,"Yeah, I'm just not feeling well."
I didn't believe her. One thing I found out quickly about Brooklyn is that she is a terrible liar.
"Do you need to go to the nurse?" I asked her, playing along with her story.
"No. I just need to drink some water," she replied, waving it off.
"Okay, well, the group and I, um, had something major pop up, and we have to leave," I said.
"I understand. Everything okay?" She asked, kindly.
I nodded,"Yeah. We'll be back tomorrow."
"Alright. I guess I'll see you tomorrow then," Brooklyn said, trying to hide her disappointment.
"Bye, Brooks," I replied.
"Bye, Grayson. I'll see you tomorrow," Brooklyn said before walking into the cafeteria.
I watched her get a cup of water, and she sat back down at our table. I feel bad for leaving her, but I need to figure out what's wrong with Caleb.

I walked out of the school, and over to my car. I unlocked it before getting in the car, slamming the door behind me. I started the engine, and I was off towards the pack house. I called Allison, and I placed the phone to my ear.
It only took two rings before she picked it up.
"How is Caleb?" I asked her, stopping at a red light.
"It's bad, Gray. He changed when we got to the pack house, and it's like he doesn't recognize us," Allison answered and I heard Tyler say something in the background.
"Allison, what happened?" I asked her.
"Caleb broke Julian's ribs and hand and injured at least ten guards. It took Dad and twenty other guards to get him in the dungeon," Allison said, and I heard her sniffle.
Allison rarely cries. The last time I saw her cry was years ago. It must be bad if my sister is crying.
"It's going to be okay, Ali. We are going to turn him back," I said, turning around a corner.
"I know. Dad already called one of the best witches in our territory. She's on her way."
I licked my lips,"Okay. I'll see you guys when I get there."
"See you then," she said before hanging up.
I tossed my phone in the passenger seat before pushing the gas pedal down even more to get to the pack house.
It took me twenty minutes to get to the pack house. When I got there, I got out of my car, quickly, and I headed into the house.
"Allison! I'm here!" I yelled, and Tyler walked out of the conference room.
"How is Julian?" I asked him.
"He's healing, slowly, but surely," Tyler replied, as we into the conference room where everybody was at.

The pack house was huge. It has seven floors since a lot of the pack lives here like the elderly. There's a huge kitchen, dining room, multiple living rooms, multiple conference rooms, and my father's office.
"Dad," I greeted when I saw my father sitting at the head of the table.
"Grayson, I'm glad that you here," he replied, standing up from his chair.
"I need to see Caleb," I stated.
"That's the thing son, the wolf that is in that dungeon is not Caleb. It's something else. He injured not only your friend but ten other guards," Dad said.
"So what do we do?" I asked him.
"We get all of the warlocks and witches and perform a ritual. It will turn him back, and we will find out who used dark magic," Dad ordered.
"Fine, but I'm still going to see him," I said before walking out of the room.
I made my way down to the dungeons where we hold rogues. All the cells were silver, and there was silver chains in the cells.
I saw Caleb's wolf quickly laying in the cell. He growled when I walked closer to the cell. I raised my hands up in front of me to show him that I'm not a threat, but he still snarled at me.
"Caleb, you need to come back to us. I know that you are in there. You have to fight whatever is blocking you," I said, calmly.
He stopped making noises, and I slowly bent down to his level. I stuck my hand through the bars, carefully, and I petted his head.
"It's okay, Caleb. We are going to help you," I said, and the wolf growled before snapping at my hand.
But I was faster, and I got my hand out of the cell before he snapped them. He was now up, and he was pacing around in the cell, licking his mouth.
I walked over to the guard and I said,"Make sure he gets food and water. He is not a prisoner. He's family."
The guard nodded, and I walked out of the dungeon. Allison was the only one left in the conference room. Silent tears rolled down her cheeks as she stared off in space.
She didn't hear me come in because she didn't react.
"Alli?" I asked her, making her snap her head up to see me standing by the doorway.
"Grayson," she said, wiping her tears away quickly. "What are you doing in here?"
"I came to check on you. By the looks of it, you look pretty upset," I told her, sitting in the chair next to her.
She nodded,"I am. I feel Caleb, but he's too far away. I feel like I lost my other half."
Tears started to drop from her eyes, uncontrollably. I hugged her as she cried. I don't even want to know the pain she is going through.
After almost thirty minutes of her crying and me hugging her, she stopped. She leaned back in her chair, and she took a few deep breaths.
"I'm okay now, Gray. Thank you," Allison said.
"I'm not leaving you, Allison. Not until I know that you are okay," I replied with a small smile.
Before she could say anything, Zoey came running into the room. Allison and I both stood up quickly.
"Caleb escaped," Zoey said, making Allison and me look at each other.
We were both thinking the same thing.
Everybody in the town is now in danger.

8 314Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
