《My Boss Is In The Mafia?》Chapter 34: Destiny

We got back to Elian's mansion after office because I wanted to have a chance to talk with Eltan.

"He sometimes stays with me, sometimes with our parents, even goes to visit Lance during holidays, but most of the time he's at his own apartment, working on his art gallery," Elian said when we were entering the mansion.

"It's really impressive how he has an art gallery at his age," I let out, genuinely impressed after hearing Eltan's achievements so far in the artistic world.

"It is." He smiled affectionately, then said, "Anyway, if you want to talk to him now, he might be in the gazebo. Ask a maid to show you the way. I have got a video conference, starting in five minutes, so I will be in my study."

"Okay, good luck."

After Elian went towards his study, I asked a maid to show me to the gazebo. It was in the back part of the mansion, and it was beautiful. I could see why Eltan loved hanging out here.

"Hey. What are you up to?" I greeted him when I found him laying down on the couch on his back with a sketchbook on his chest.

Eltan sat up and closed his sketchbook. He gave me a tired smile and said, "Stuck at something. But it's nothing. What about you? And where's Big Bro?"

"He's in the study. He has an important conference call with some foreign clients," I answered and sat on one of the single couches.

"I will never understand how you guys can keep working on such a tight schedule. I mean, sure, it's interesting for you guys. I will die if I have to keep working constantly every five days of the week."

I chuckled and said, "It depends on the person, actually. Like you said, Elian and I find business interesting, and we don't like loose schedules. You find art interesting and like loose schedules. All of us have our own passions and preference; everyone should respect each other's, right?"

"Right." His green eyes gleamed with excitement. "You're smart, and you understand my point. Some of my friends are always saying that doing art is really boring and all. But you didn't say that. I like you."

"Well, thank you."

"I have to admit, you and Elian are a perfect match," Eltan said with a smile. "Just like you, my big bro's one of the most understanding people I have ever met, and I'm really happy you guys got back together again. All of us were losing hope that he will never be truly happy again. Maybe whatever scandal that happened with the company was for the best. So that you guys can be together again. Elian doesn't believe in destiny, but I do, and I think it brought you guys together."

My heart melted at his sweet words. "Aww, I like you too now."

He laughed lightly. "I got myself a big sis then."

"Oh, my God, will you call me Big Sis? Please do. I have always dreamed of getting a younger brother," I squealed. "I can't believe I got two now."

"I heard from Scary Bro about you too," he admitted.

"Scary Bro?" I asked in confusion.

"I mean, Lance."

"Oh." I laughed. "The name suits him." I laughed a little more and asked, "He bitches about me, doesn't he?"

Eltan shook his head. "He actually likes you too, despite you bullying him."

"He says I bully him? How could he?" I gasped, pretending to be scandalized at the accusation. "He's the one who bullies me."

"Guess I will have to see that for myself the next time you guys meet."

Eltan and I chatted for some more time until we got to a point where Eltan was telling me about how broken Elian was after my accident.

"I heard you are getting therapy to get your memories back, so I'm sure you have remembered that Big Bro didn't use to be cold and rude at all. Yes, he has always been a little grumpy, nothing compared to Scary Bro, though. But Big Bro's also always been kind, sweet, and caring. You know, he always used to grin ear to ear while talking about you. But those good sides of him were being crushed by the pain he was under. It was a torture to see during the initial days, especially when he didn't have the time to even mourn the end of his first and best relationship."

"I don't understand," I mumbled, my heart already clenching at whatever Eltan was saying.

"The time of your accident overlapped with the time of Elian taking over Storm Dynamics as the new CEO. In fact, he had just joined the company that week and spent every night of that week in the hospital, desperate to see you by avoiding your parents' watchful eyes. He didn't want to cross paths with anyone from your family after your dad insulted him so horribly."

I had no idea Dad insulted Elian. Elian just told me that Dad asked him to stay away from me.

"When you woke up a week later after being unconscious, you couldn't recognize him. It broke him completely. He wanted to ask you to move in with him after your graduation ceremony, which means he was ready to share his everyday life with you, and from that, he went to you not even remembering his existence."

Elian wanted to... ask me to move in with him after my graduation ceremony?

"He also wanted to confess to you about the mafia history of our family and how he was taking care of the mafia business here. That's why he suffered from another guilt that he never could tell you the truth. Never mind him blaming himself constantly for the kidnapping and being unable to save you. He always used to say that if he was able to reach you in time, you wouldn't have had that accident."

Yeah, I kinda guessed that.

"Oh, you know, Big Bro used to refrain from killing after he fell in love with you."

My chest warmed up at the admission. "Really?"

"Yeah. He used to say that you might hate him if you knew that he was touching you with the hands that took people's lives." That was really sweet of Elian. "And that's why after you lost your memories and Big Bro lost the reason to not continue killing, he became ruthless. He drowned himself in both company and mafia works and never let himself get his closure, which is one of the reasons he was unable to ever move on from you. But like I said, destiny wanted you guys together, that's why Big Bro was unable to move on from you and you fell in love with him again."

"I'm glad we are together now. I know everything comes with a price, but I just wish Elian didn't have to suffer so much throughout it all."

Eltan gave me an assuring smile and said, "Well, you will just have to keep him happy for the rest of your life, right?"

"Right." I returned his smile.

"What are you guys up to? Badmouthing me?" Elian commented, walking up the small flight of stairs of the gazebo.

"Yes. Eltan's been telling me all about your bad habits," I replied, and Elian sat on the armrest of my couch, draping an arm over my shoulders.

"I told Big Sis how hard it was to teach you how to play guitar so that you could play it with her," Eltan added, and my eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh, my God, you learned how to play guitar for me from Eltan?"

Elian flushed in embarrassment and averted his eyes.

"Totally. He told me you loved singing and wanted a partner who could play the guitar with you. But God, Big Bro was such a bad student," Eltan said to me.

"Hey, but I never gave up," Elian protested as I stared at him in admiration.

"But you always ran away from practice at every chance you got," Eltan argued.

"I paid you for teaching, so shut up," Elian concluded.

"No, you didn't. Don't you remember blackmailing me emotionally by saying how could I ask my big brother for money when he was doing something for his true love—" Elian threw a cushion at Eltan's face.

"Okay, that's enough. You talk too much sometimes," Elian muttered, frowning, and I was trying my best not to laugh.

"I will tell Mom about it," Eltan grumbled.

"Go ahead. You are such a..." Elian tried to think of a word that wasn't offensive and came out with, "youngest child."

"And you're such a big bro." Eltan rolled his eyes and got up from the couch. He grabbed his sketchbook and other materials and said, "I'm hungry. Let's have dinner now, guys."

"So what did you guys really talk about?" Elian asked, kissing the top of my head after Eltan left the gazebo.

"Let that be a mystery for now," I said with a playful smile.

Elian gave me a scrutinizing look but didn't ask anything more and got up.

"You go ahead. I need to make a call," I said.

"To whom?"

"I will tell you later."

"Okay." With that, he went ahead.

I pulled out my phone and made the call.

Once it was received, I took a deep breath and let out, "Hello, Dad?"
