《My Boss Is In The Mafia?》Chapter 33: Vacancy

I was sleeping peacefully in Elian's arms until there was a knock on the door.

I cracked an eye open to search for the clock in the room until it landed on one. It was only five-thirty in the morning.

Who the hell has business with Elian so early in the morning?

I tapped Elian on his arms that were wrapped around my bare waist, mumbling, "There's someone at the door. Open it."

Elian grumbled something incoherent and rolled over to the side, indicating he didn't want to get up now.

Giving him a kick in the shin, I sat up, my brain dysfunctioning. I put on the white shirt I had worn last night and went to get the door.

I was rubbing my eyes as I looked at the younger man standing at the door, dressed in a gray hoodie and jeans, looking annoyingly fresh at such an early hour.

"Good morning, Big—woah, who are you, miss?"

"That's what I should be asking. Who the hell are you?" I wasn't the most polite person in the morning, so yeah, I was prepared to curse out indiscriminately at this unknown young man if he didn't disappear from my sight soon.

"You shouldn't still be here, you know? You should have left after your job," he said as if he was trying to make me understand something crucial.

"I don't understand what the fuck you are talking about. Why did the maids let such a weirdo in the mansion in the first place?"

"Why wouldn't they? It's my big bro's mansion."

"Yeah, right. The jokes on you. It's my boyfriend's mansion. Get lost." I was about to shut the door on his face, but I came to a screeching realization.

Wait, what? Big Bro?

Before I could even speak again, the uninvited guest was profusely apologizing, "Oh, no, you must be Alena. Shit, I'm so sorry. I thought you were a— Never mind, I'm Eltan, Elian's youngest brother."

I blinked a few times to adjust my vision, only to notice the identical black hair and green eyes just then.

"No, it's okay—" I started to say, but then, I realized what Eltan thought I was. "You thought of me as a pro— Do I look like a one-night stand to you?" I was pretty enough to be one, but I looked too innocent at first glance, especially with my slightly chubby cheeks which Elian often liked to poke fun at.

"No, of course not. I didn't know you and Big Bro made it official. So I just assumed—" Eltan paused for a second and took a calming breath, then composed himself enough to say, "Sorry, it was completely my misunderstanding. It was wrong of me to assume anything, especially something like that. I don't know why that even came to my head when Big Bro doesn't even sleep around in the first place."

His apology sounded genuine, so I tried to smile and said, "It's okay. What did you come here for, anyway?"

"Oh, nothing really. I was just bored, so I thought I would come and poke Big Bro."

"Oh, so your purpose here was to annoy Elian?" Eltan nodded unrepentantly. "Well, it has been a good meeting, Eltan. Goodnight." With that, I shut the door without any regrets.

No one messes with my sleep.

I crawled back into the bed beside Elian, and he automatically came to wrap me in a back hug.

"Was it Eltan?" he mumbled groggily.

I kicked him in the shin lightly again and said, "All of you brothers are jerks."

He just chuckled and dozed back into sleep, and so did I.

We only had one more hour to sleep before we had to get up and start preparing for the office, and no bored little brother was going to ruin this precious leisure.

After Elian and I finally woke up, we both worked out in his personal gym. He again shared his AirPods with me, though this time I had my own one in my bag. Yet, sharing with him felt better.

After that, we both showered separately and got dressed for the office. The office started at nine, but both of us always preferred to be half an hour early.

I expected to see Eltan at the breakfast table since he was here very early. Elian seemed to have noticed my searching eyes, so he said, "Eltan already had breakfast. He probably went out for a nature walk, or whatever he calls it, to get inspiration before he has his classes at ten. You can catch him tonight if you come back here. He's staying here for the week."

"I would love to meet him tonight, but your intentions don't sound so pure, Mr. Storm," I commented, sitting on the chair he just pulled out for me.

He took his seat and pretended to be a wounded puppy. "I won't get to see you properly all day. Is it so wrong of me to want to see my woman later?"

I made a thoughtful face and said, "I might need more convincing than that."

"Your apartment door won't be fixed today, and I obviously can't let you stay in a place where there's no lock."

"I don't have a problem with staying, but you need to bring my clothes." I pointed at the striped lime green jumpsuit I was wearing. Usually, I loved jumpsuits a lot, but I just hated this one. Yet, I had to wear it because my dear boyfriend thought it would be funny to pack my bag with clothes I never wear.

He chuckled and said, "You probably didn't check the other chain of the bag. I did pack some of the formal outfits you like for the office."

"Elian, why couldn't you say that sooner?"

Ugh, I want to strangle him!

"Look at the bright side." He grinned cheekily. "You look stunning, even in that color."

"Have a good day." I kissed Elian's cheek before the elevator doors opened up on my floor.

"You too." He gave me a last smile before I got off the elevator.

I made my way straight to my office, greeting everyone I crossed on the way.

When I entered my empty cabin, I suddenly missed the sight of Anya arranging my desk. Now that I thought about it, was she even arranging it or stealing data from my laptop?

Oh, well, all of that was in the past now.

I sat down on my chair and let out a heavy sigh because I had to find a new assistant. I pulled out my phone and texted Elian.

Elian replied a minute later.

As I was the COO, I had the authority to hold interviews however I wanted as long as it wasn't for an executive position itself.

I could almost hear his chuckle as he replied a simple 'Ok' a few seconds later.

I almost wished we hadn't had espresso this morning at his place this morning so that I had an excuse to pay him a visit right now. But this was better. We shouldn't be distracted at the office.

I put my phone down and posted in the office forum that I was looking for a new assistant and I wanted to hold the interview next week—my need for an assistant was urgent, but there was no free time according to the schedule Anya had made for this week. I wanted someone from the company since I didn't have time to dwindle with someone inexperienced at the moment. Things were already busy as it was.

I arranged my things on my own for the day and decided to drop a text to Lance.

Lance saw the text a minute later, then he left me seenzoned for a couple of minutes.

If it was anyone else, I would have asked, "Why such a dry reply?" But it was Lance. The fact he replied at all was an accomplishment on its own.

I was checking eager responses from the employees who were interested, and as I noticed more than half of them were males, I smirked.

The assistant interview ought to be fun.
