《My Boss Is In The Mafia?》Chapter 27: Therapy

"Elian, you don't think I sold out our company, do you?" I let out, my voice rising at the accusation.

"No, of course not. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying your laptop is the only one that wasn't checked—" Elian tried to reason.

"You're indirectly saying that I copied the data from my laptop—"

"Will you just listen to me? The data might have been copied from your laptop, but it wasn't you, I'm sure of that."

I calmed down a little after he said that. "So you mean to say, someone else copied from my laptop and sold it out?"

"We can only be sure if you let Jace check your laptop," Elian replied.

"I see. Okay, fine. I'll give you my laptop before leaving for home today, and you can give it to Jace."

"You have to give it tomorrow. I assigned Jace some other work tonight," he informed.

"Okay, fine. Do you have something else to say?"

He shook his head.

"Then, I'm leaving."

"Uh, wait," he called out, and I halted. "Are you still going to have lunch with Mr. Williams?"

"No, I just told him 'tomorrow', remember?"

"Have lunch with me today, then."

My lips threatened to form into a grin at the suggestion, but I turned it into a professional smile and said, "Sure, I would love to, Mr. Storm."

"By the way, I saw a neurologist on Friday," I mentioned while eating Thai food over lunch with Elian.

"What did the doctor say?" Elian inquired.

"She said that there was no guarantee that my memories could be back completely, considering I have been left untreated for so long, but she did prescribe me some medicines and told me to take some therapy twice a week."

"What sort of therapy?"

"It's kind of like hypnotism."

"I see."

"What, aren't you going to say that I shouldn't get it so that I don't remember you?" I taunted.

He smiled self-deprecatingly and said, "I'm confused, actually, whether I want you to get your memories back or not. But if the therapy helps you, you should get it. I don't want you to keep getting head-splitting aches every time you get hazy flashbacks."

I hummed and rested my head on his shoulder. "I'm a little scared," I mumbled and took a bite of my food.

"Why?"

"It's my first time getting therapy. What if it messes up with my mind more?"

He caressed my head gently and said, "It will be okay. I will come—"

"Which is why I asked Kevin to come with me tomorrow," I quickly added.

Elian ducked back at the news, making my head fall off his shoulder, and asked, "Why the hell did you ask him?"

"I was just telling him about my appointment, and he volunteered himself. He's such a nice person, isn't he?" I gushed.

"What about going to the hospital on Friday? Did he tag along then too?" he questioned.

"No. I was on a call with Lance the entire time. He happened to be free that evening," I simply told him.

"Lance? Since when are you guys so close?" Elian asked, baffled.

"C'mon, Elian, don't be jealous of your brother too," I scolded mildly.

"I'm not getting jealous. I'm just surprised, is all," he murmured. "Lance doesn't like anyone easily, you see."

"Well, I think he likes me just fine. We chat regularly now," I informed delightfully. "Although Lance sometimes takes too long to reply or leaves me on seen," I complained, pouting.

"Don't take it personally. He does that with me too," Elian said.

"Yes, I understood that later on. But he's a sweetheart." Elian was nodding in agreement until I added, "Just like Kevin."

Elian tried not to let his face twitch with jealousy and took a bite of his food.

"Kevin said he was going to drive me to the hospital after work tomorrow. It will be like a hospital date, you know—" I was cut off by Elian shoving a piece of fishcake in my mouth.

"Just eat quietly and don't talk so much," he grumbled.

I chewed the fishcake slowly and started to say, "You invited me for lunch. You can't stop me from talking."

"God, this is going to be a never-ending lunchtime," he muttered under his breath, and I couldn't agree more.

"So how did the plan work?" Lance asked when I called him after returning from work and freshening up.

"It worked like magic. If only you saw Elian's face," I laughed as I recalled. "He's so bad at hiding his jealousy."

"I have heard the same from Ash and Jace," Lance said in agreement.

"So do you know the entire story? The jealousy one?" I asked with curiosity.

"Do I seem like a storyteller to you?" Lance responded.

"Which means you know, but you won't tell me," I deduced.

"You're going to get your memories back soon through therapy, remember it yourself then."

I chuckled and said, "True. Anyway, tell me about you. How's your life?"

"Good."

"What sort of answer is that? Elaborate," I rebuked.

"I'm going to tell you for the umpteenth time, you're annoying."

"Still, not going to change me. So now, tell me the details of your life. Of course, I need no bedroom details. Just the normal—"

"God, all I wanted was for my brother to be happy, and now, I'm stuck with this weird lady," Lance spoke to no one in particular.

"Since you know you are stuck, spill the beans already," I urged.

"So..." He started a little hesitantly, "There's this crazy girl I met..."

The next day, before leaving work at six, I went to Elian's cabin with my laptop to hand it in for Jace to check it.

"Will I get it tomorrow?" I asked, and Elian nodded. "Okay then. I will take my leave now. Have a goodnight, Mr. Storm."

"Goodnight, Ms. Fleur."

I was expecting Elian to ask me about my therapy session where I would be going with Kevin.

"Don't you have something else to say?"

"No," Elian replied curtly.

I gave him a tight-lipped smile and said, "Well then, I will be on my way to the clinic." With that, I walked out of his cabin.

Even though Kevin himself offering to tag along part was fake, my fear of going to the therapy alone was true. So if Elian wouldn't come, I might as well take Kevin.

He was a fun person to talk to as a friend and also someone Lance trusted, so I was at least in safe hands.

Kevin drove me to the clinic safely. I talked to the receptionist, and she said I had to wait for ten more minutes because the doctor was in another session.

Kevin and I sat down at the bench to wait and got into talking. I had always been a smooth-talker, and so was Kevin. Therefore, we didn't have any awkward pauses in our talks.

"Ms. Fleur, it's your turn," the receptionist called out.

I got up since I couldn't have Kevin accompany me in there, and just then, a kid ran into me. I was about to fall backward, but Kevin was behind me, so he caught me on time by the waist.

Thankfully, the kid didn't fall as well.

Kevin was about to remove his arms from my waist when I noticed someone in a dark green suit standing a little farther away.

I quickly jumped away from Kevin and let out, "Elian."

He actually looked really scary at that moment, and the way he was glaring at Kevin was downright murderous.

"Elian, it's not what you are thinking," I explained instinctively, trying to think from Elian's standpoint it could have looked like a kiss between me and Kevin.

Elian walked towards us slowly while my heart was thumping loudly in my chest.

I did want Elian to get jealous, but not like this. I never wanted him to get hurt or ever do too much in my charade with Kevin.

Elian took a hold of my hand and said, his voice chilly, "C'mon, it's your turn now, Alena."

"Huh?" I was utterly confused.

He tugged at my hand, leading me ahead towards the chamber door.

"Elian, what you saw just now, it was an accident. I was about to fall and he caught me—"

"I saw, Alena. You don't have to explain. I understand," he said softly, and right then, I couldn't figure him out. I couldn't tell what he was thinking.

"Really?"

"Yeah," he mumbled before we both entered the chamber.

The therapist greeted with a warm smile, "Hello, Ms. Fleur. I wasn't aware you were bringing someone. So you are?" She looked at Elian in question.

I was about to answer my boss slash kinda-boyfriend, but Elian beat me to it as he said firmly, "Elian, just someone who loves her."
