《My Boss Is In The Mafia?》Chapter 24: Challenge

I was hugging the orange teddy bear, which Elian had in his room, while sitting against the headboard when Elian entered the room.

"Why are you in my room and why are you still up?" he asked and went towards his dressing table to take off his wristwatch and cufflinks.

"I was waiting for you," I mumbled.

I was scared that he would get hurt while finishing off the Blacklist gang, but he seemed fine, which was a huge relief.

"Is the Blacklist gang over now?" I asked, and he nodded. "You aren't lying to me again like last time, are you?"

"Nope. Xavier is now our captive. Ash will hand him to the police tomorrow after torturing him so that our company can be completely free of charges," Elian stated.

"I see."

He arched an eyebrow in the mirror. "What's wrong? You sound upset."

I shook my head and buried my face in the teddy bear, starting to tear up again.

"Alena—"

"Why are you bothering? I don't matter to you. Just ignore me."

"First of all, I never said you don't matter to me. Secondly, you're sitting in my bed, how can I ignore you?" he pointed out.

"No one wants your logic right now. Shut up," I sniffled.

He walked over to me and sat beside me. "What is it, then? Tell me, and I will shut up."

"All of you left my amnesia untreated," I mumbled.

"I had no say in it. But isn't it better that way?"

"They are my memories, Elian. I don't want them to get lost forever. I want them back."

"But Alena—"

"And I will get back. I will go to the hospital and see a doctor—"

"But you hate the hospital—"

"I will still go," I said stubbornly. "I will get my memories back, and then, I will see how you push me away."

"Alena, why are you so eager to hurt yourself?"

"I'm not trying to hurt myself. I just want us to be together, don't you get it?" I asked him.

"I honestly don't. You can find someone else. I'm sure there are other guys who can make you happy, probably happier than I ever made you. My life is fucked up. You were hurt because of me. It's better if you stay—"

"Don't repeat that crap because that's not going to convince me. I will win you back, Elian. Watch me," I challenged him.

"You can try," he responded and got up. "For now, get out. I need to change."

"I'm going to stay right here," I said adamantly and laid down on the bed. I pulled over the duvet up to my chest and announced, "I'm not moving an inch. You can sleep in another room if you want."

"You know, I can just pick you up and dump you in another room."

"I will keep coming back."

He shook his head in disbelief and made his way towards the walk-in closet to get his pajamas before heading to shower.

When he came out shirtless, I tried not to stare and have a mini internal freak-out at the realization that this hot body used to belong to me.

Elian laid down on the bed beside me, and I gasped, sounding scandalized, "What are you doing, mister?"

"You are gravely mistaken if you think I'm going to back off from a fight, Alena," he challenged back and pulled up the duvet.

I scoffed, trying to act nonchalant. "Do whatever you want."

I closed my eyes, trying to calm down my heartbeat at our closeness.

He was going to sleep shirtless in the same bed as me. Oh, God, is it just me, or is it getting hot in here?

Speaking of sleeping shirtless, I couldn't help but ask, "Have you slept with any other women?"

"Huh?"

"Did you sleep with other women in the last three years?" I clarified.

"No."

I opened my eyes and turned to face him in surprise. "Really?"

"Yeah."

I smiled and shifted a little closer to him. "You really do love me a lot, don't you?" I teased.

He feigned a cough, his cheeks a little red, and asked, "What about you? Did you sleep with other guys?"

"Shouldn't you already know?"

"How will I know?"

"Didn't you keep an eye on me so that I'm safe all the time?" I reasoned out.

"Doesn't mean I went around stalking you and seeing which man came into your apartment," he retorted.

I chuckled and said, "Fair enough."

"So? Did you?" he asked.

"What if I did?" I tried to sound serious.

He stayed silent for a moment before saying, "Can I know their names?"

I burst out laughing. "God, you're so cute."

He frowned. "But I wasn't joking."

I wrapped my arm around his bare torso and rested my head on his chest, getting comfortable. "I know. That's why you're so adorable."

He kept frowning but instinctively wrapped his arm around my waist.

God, how did I manage to sleep until now without cuddling this adorable human pillow?

"Don't worry. You don't have to kill anyone because I was under the delusion that I was a virgin until I looked through my scrapbook."

His lips twitched up in amusement before he covered it and asked, "How did you find your scrapbook?"

"I looked for it in your room thoroughly after I saw that photo."

"Which photo?"

I told him how I saw our photo together on the café wall, and while telling him, I thought many times about how much I wanted to kiss him before I fell into a deep slumber.

I woke up late in the morning and found the room to be empty.

I rolled over the bed until I heard the bathroom door click and saw Elian getting out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Good morning, baby," I mumbled groggily.

"Good morning, babe— wait, what? What did you just call me?"

My eyes also widened at what I said, and I sat up quickly. "I don't know. I just... it just slipped my mouth. Did I— was this one of my morning habits?" I asked, trying to make sense of it.

Elian nodded cautiously.

A mischievous smile formed on my lips as I said, "And you used to call me 'babe', huh."

He blushed and walked briskly to the closet room. "I was in university. I was young, okay?"

"Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed of, baby. I like it," I uttered, intentionally putting more emphasis on the nickname.

"Let's not forget I'm back to being your boss!" he hollered from the closet.

I got down from the bed and strolled into the closet room to find him buttoning up his shirt. I walked closer to him and slapped away his hand so that I could button up the rest.

"You are my boss at the office, not here. Even if you consider yourself to be, who says I can't flirt with my boss?" I winked at him as I finished the last button and straightened his collar.

"Woman, you're going to be the death of me," he let out through his gritted teeth.

I smirked and kissed his jawline. "You said you weren't going to back off, baby."

He licked his lips like he was going to kiss me, and I was waiting for it. But he managed to resist the urge as he pushed me to the side and grabbed his blazer.

I was chuckling as he was leaving the closet room, but he stopped and turned around to say with a smirk, "It's on, Ms. Fleur."
