Lorraine Lebedev

Silence filled between us.

I was anxious to see how he would react to what I told him.

Would he help me?

Would he report me to my father?

The answer remains unknown until he speaks his mind.

"Dante." I called out, anxiety creasing in my veins.

Dante looked at me, an unknown emotion swirled in his brown eyes.

"Lorraine, why are you telling me this?" Is the first thing that left his mouth. I sighed, taking a set at the edge of my bed. "I don't know." I answered truthfully.

I actually do not know why I am asking for his help. I just feel like he has the heart in him to help even though he is loyal to my father.

Dante crossed his arms deep in thought.

We sat like this for the past five minutes, anxious by the minute.

"If I help you, I will be seen as a traitor and your father will kill me instantly." He explained which was true. It was selfish of me to ask him to risk everything just for me but that is how desperate I am to leave this hell of a house.

"Dante I know, It's just that-" He interrupted me mid sentence. "I will help you, but there is a catch." He said. My eyes widened in disbelief as the words sank in. I kept my cool and asked. "What's the catch?"

"I want to come with you, make sure you are safe. It is my duty after all and I am your personal bodyguard." he stated.

I rose to my feet and shook my head. "No, I do not want to drag you into this further." Dante smiled and shrugged. "I already know that you are running tonight with Raphaël." He let out. "I can easily go up to your father and tell him what you just told me but I don't want to. I know where you're coming from and I am willing to help you seek revenge."

Without a second thought I threw myself onto him. I do not know why but I just did.

"Thank you for risking everything for me. I will pay you back. I promise."

He chuckled, his chest vibrating against my face." Don't sweat it kid."

Pulling back my smile faded. "How will we sneak Raphaël out of the house without anyone knowing?" I asked. Dante placed his hand on my shoulder. "I will handle that and the car. All you need to do is be ready by 2am. Okay." he declared.

I nodded.

"Good." He said before opening the door. He checked if the coast was clear then left.

I guess this is it, an end to the era of me being a daddy's girl.

I chuckled at the thought and sighed aloud.

I'm not a very religious person but I pray to God this goes smoothly and without anyone getting hurt.

I tied my red hair into a high ponytail and zip up my leather jacket, sliping my backpack on my bed.

The house is quiet, majority of the guards went home now only the night shifters are here. Not sure home many but security is tight outside at night.

I slowly opened the door, making sure it didn't make a creaking sound. One foot in front of the other, leaving my bedroom.

I carefully made my way downstairs and hurried my way to the garage. I opened the door and quickly walked inside. I came to a dark room.

I venter ahead weaving my way past cars, glancing behind me just before a tall dark shadow stood in my way.

Frightened, I back into a hard object, turning my head to find Dante.

"Quiet, follow me." He whispered and walked past me. My eyes watched him carefully as she helped Raphaël.

Moments later he showed me to one of the cars, it was too dark to make out the vehicle. He opens the back door for me and takes my luggage, thanking him with a smile. I entered the car and he closed it then helped Raphael after.

Raphael, glanced up at me, his eyes half opened.

I watched him closely, curious about what my father had put him through.

"There is a blanket underneath the seat in front of you, I'll need you to cover yourself with it"

I stretched my hand out, reaching for the blanket then unfolding it and covering yourself with it as I laid on the seat beside Raphael who fell into a deep sleep. His thick lashes kissed the upper bone of his cheek, Dante changed him into clean clothes and managed to treat some of the visible bruises.

I had this urge to press my lips against his, just to feel something besides anger and fear.

The car halted and Dante rolled down his window exchanging words with the security guard.

After a moment, the car moved again and I removed the blanket and covered Raphael instead who laid on my lap.

He looked so peaceful.

"Where to know?" I asked.

"Don't know, but for now we will lay low in a hotel." He stared at the dark road. Nodding my head I sighed and leaned my against the seat.

"Thank you." I whispered and he looked at me through the rearview mirror then back at the road.

I don't know why but I'm still curious as to why he is helping me, betraying the most feared man in Russia just to help his helpless daughter. Funny and suspicious.

It's been five days since the three of us escaped from home.

We've been staying in a small hotel named Avtozavodskaya Ulitsa by Gostevoy Dom Na Suhkharevke.

I wasn't used to the lifestyle of it but it is better safe than sorry. Raphael has been in bed, everyday I treated his wounds so that they don't get infected.

Dante offered that we all had our separate rooms but I protested suggesting he sleeps in a different room and I'll sleep with Raphaël. He didn't like the idea at first but I convinced him.

There was only one bed and I didn't think it was okay for me to sleep in it, with Raphaël. I didn't want to invade his privacy so I slept on the couch.

I'm currently heating up some cup noodles in the microwave, staring at the countdown. It's 10pm. It was late but I couldn't sleep.

I barely sleep these days. All I've been thinking about is how I'll start hunting these people.

The only person who could help me was Raphaël but he's still healing.

I was deep in thought that I shrieked when I felt someone placing their hand on my lower back, grabbing the closest object which was a fork I immediately turned around ready to attack.

My muscles relaxed when I saw those hazel eyes.

"You awake?" I asked, wanting to stab myself with the fork for asking a dumb question.

Raphaël took in his surroundings, confused and angry.

"Where the fuck am I?" he asked coldly. "Don't worry you're safe." I told him.

Raphael's eyes darken and he caught me by surprise by snatching my neck, his grip tightened, my pipes closing in as it got difficult to breath.

"Raphael?!" I choked, my vision blurring. I tried to fight him but that angered him even more. He pulled me closer to his face. "Where the fuck am I?" he asked again.

My eyes rolled back, tears streaming down my face. I couldn't breathe.

The sound of me grunting, was the only thing that escaped my mouth.

I started to see black spots, my consciousness slowly drifting away. The sound of the microwave beeping made Raphael loosen his grip from my neck.

My back hit the edge of the counter as I gasped violently for air.

What the fuck was that?!
