《The Strings Attached》Chapter 11 - Jace

If I were a woman, I would be completely disgusted right now. The men on this Lust Me app are such douche lords. Fuck, right now I'm just plain disgusted with myself. I couldn't help it. I need to see what Loni is getting herself into. And after that incredibly random and uncalled-for kiss, I can't get her out of my head.
So, I set up a fake profile on Lust me. I set my preferred interest to men. Now, I'm laying on my couch scrolling through each random, douche lordy guy. A majority of them are just looking for a quick fuck too, and they don't even try to hide it.
Like this guy, Brad, it's the first thing written in his bio. "Not looking for anything serious, just wanna bang." There's also an eggplant emoji and three water droplet emojis. If that doesn't give small dick energy, I don't know what does.
What really sucks though, what's giving me this bitter ache in my stomach, is the fact that I was like these men just last year. Scoping out vulnerable, needy women just looking to hook up. One of my low points was when I fucked five different girls over one weekend. Two of them were at the same time. In the moment, it was hot. But now, looking back at the man I was, I want to vomit.
Bile literally burns the back of my throat as the thought of Loni creeps back into my mind. The thought of her being just like me. No, I won't fucking allow it. For the team's sake, of course.
"Is that Lust Me?"
I roll my head back to find Asher, my oldest friend from the first grade, standing behind me. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I was thirsty," he says, holding up his beer can. "And you aren't very good at hiding your spare key." He takes a step closer to me and squints at my phone. "Any hot ones on there?"
"No," I say. But before I lock my phone, Asher snatches it from my grasp. "Stop." I jump up to my feet but Asher scurries into the kitchen.
His intrigued smile contorts into confusion. "Dude, what the fuck is this?"
"I can explain—"
"Why are you looking at half-naked men?"
Kaden strolls into the room, blond hair a wild mess, wiping the sleep from his eyes, no doubt just waking up from a nap. He walks behind Asher to the fridge but stops. He leans back and arches his neck to see the phone screen.
"Jace, why are there shirtless men on your phone."
My mouth goes dry as the two of them snicker and scroll through the app.
"Listen—" Their laughter interrupts my plead. They refuse to hear what I have to say.
There's a quick knock on the door, but Tyler doesn't wait for a response before he walks into my apartment. At least he'll listen to reason. Tyler Dane usually doesn't take part in Kaden and Asher's fuckery.
"Thank fuck you're here," Kaden addresses Tyler as soon as he walks inside. "We need to have an intervention for poor old Jace. He's addicted to looking at naked men on hookup apps."
I look at Tyler and his face instantly goes red.
"Maybe this break from women has you a little confused, buddy," Asher suggests with a fake sympathetic tone as he hides his grin behind his beer can. But his lips flap as he tried to hold in his laughter.

"I'm not... It's not what it looks like."
"Then please, elaborate," Tyler says, still looking confused as to what he just walked in on.
I let out a sigh, rubbing the back of my sweaty neck with an equally sweaty palm. "There's this girl on the volleyball team and she is wanting to hook up with some of these assholes."
"Oh, shit..." Tyler runs his hand over his sharp jaw and then through his brown hair. "It's not Hadley, right. Please tell me it's not her." His blue eyes are full of desperation.
Tyler Dane is not a prude by any means. But his father is the Chancellor of Bayside, so he needs to hold himself to certain standards. He's definitely a ladies' man, but he exercises control. They all flirt with him and he holds back, letting out all that built-up sexual energy on his girlfriend. And the guy is also more than willing to give us all the dirty details of those nights.
But when it comes to Tyler's sister— let's just say that at a recent house party, a guy left with a broken nose because he grabbed Hadley's ass and Tyler left with bloody knuckles.
"No," I shake my head. "Not Hadley."
Tyler lets out a breath, relaxing and sitting on the couch.
"No, it's her friend, Loni. Loni Davis. Do you know her?"
Tyler shrugs. "I met her a couple of times. She seems sweet. But I don't really know much about her."
Fuck. That's the last thing I want to hear. My encounters with Loni have been less than pleasant. But the fact that Tyler says she's a sweet girl makes my skin get hot. She's going to get taken advantage of by these men. I just wish she would realize how stupid she's being.
Aside from that, she should be focusing on her game and not one-night stands with a bunch of losers.
"I mean for the sake of the volleyball team, it's my job to look out for her, right?"
The three of them look at me skeptically.
"Are you sure that's the reason you don't want her to date these guys?" Asher asks, grabbing another beer. "Or maybe you actually like this girl.
I scoff. "Not at all. Plus, she can't fucking stand me." If that's true, then why did she shove her tongue down my throat a few hours ago?
"I've got two words for you," Kaden says, running his fingers through his tangled hair. "Cock block."
"What?"
"You don't want her going out with these fuckers, so don't let her."
"Are you sure that's a good idea? Are you even sure you should get involved, Jace?" Ty chimes in, being the voice of reason like always.
It's an interesting idea. I can't just sit ideally by and watch Loni do this. I also cannot stand to hear her talk about it with Hadley during every practice. But she might hate me even more than she already does. What gives me the right to do this?
"Look at this dude," Asher says, still holding my phone. "Carson, Age twenty-two. Says here he will screw any lucky girl until they can't walk in the morning. Sounds like a really stand-up guy."
"He also likes surfing," Kaden laughs.
Fuck it. I can't let this happen. Loni might hate me, but there is no way I'm letting these men get anywhere near her.
