Waking up today, I could feel my eyes swelling and my lips dry. Realising that I had cried myself to sleep last night, after I found out that my fiancé, James, has been cheating on me.

Flashback

"Honey, I'm leaving for work now. I'm sorry I can't stay to take care of you, I have an important meeting today." I said while planting a kiss on my fiancé's forehead. He was unwell so he stayed home to rest.

"It's okay baby. I'm just going to eat my medicine and sleep the whole day." James said with a cheeky smile.

"When I get home, I will cook you Chicken soup to help you get better. Rest well." I said while taking my bag and keys.

While I was on the way to work, a heavy feeling struck my chest, like something is not right.

My attention throughout the day was not quite there. The feeling never stopped bothering me but then during the meeting, I decided to put my feelings aside and focus on my meeting.

The meeting went well. The client agreed to my proposal and as happy as I was, the unexplained feeling still mingles.

Suddenly, I thought maybe I should just go home to my fiancé to check on things. Little did I know. I then asked my manager if it was okay for me to leave early. Well, he said okay.

While driving back home the feeling got worse. I tried distracting myself by listening to music but somehow, nothing was helping. When I arrived home, the door was unlocked. "Weird," I thought. I remember locking the door when I left for work.

I was walking up to my bedroom when I heard something. My heart stopped. I heard a girl's laugh coming from my bedroom. I opened the door slowly and was crushed when I saw a girl on my bed, naked. I opened the door further and that's when I felt a tear slipping down my cheek.

"James?" I was trembling with disappointment in my eyes.

"Ellie?! You're home early. I can explain!" James said with guilt written all over his crooked face.

"Baby, who is this? Do you know her?!" The girl continued. I take that she didn't know of my existence till that moment.

I took off running, ignoring James's cries. I rushed to my car and drove off. To be honest, I didn't know where to go. I decided to go back to my parent's place. I told them what happened. They were furious and asked me to stay at their place. They then insisted to get my stuff from my apartment. Which I am grateful for.

Present

I was on the way to the clinic when I checked my phone. "57 missed calls | 30 messages" I deleted them all as it was only making me angier.

I ate my medicine later after I ate my lunch. I got drowsy pretty fast and was about to fall asleep when I heard the doorbell rang. My parents were at work so it can't be them and even if they were to come back home, they would have the keys to the house. I grabbed the first thing that I could use as a weapon, an umbrella and moved towards the door slowly. When I opened the door, I was shocked when I saw James, standing there, with red eyes and heavy eyebags.

"James?! What the hell are you doing here?" I asked warily.

"Ellie, I'm so sorry for what happened. It was an accident. I love you. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." James begged but there was no way I was going to give in to a man like that.

"Accident huh? Never knew sleeping with another woman can be an accident. Stop wasting my time. The engagement is off and since you're here. Wait." I said while I went to get our engagement ring and gave it back to him. "This is yours. Please don't see me or find me anymore. My parents will drop by later tonight to collect my stuff."

I was about to slam the door when he stopped it and went down on the ground begging, "Baby please, don't be like this. We can work this out. I made a mistake and I'm terribly sorry. Let me fix this. Please, give me a chance."

"I'm sorry but it's over," I said while looking at him dead in the eyes slamming the door in his face

"I'm going to win you back! I promise you that! You're gonna regret this!" he shouted before leaving.
