"Why are you so ungrateful?!" Rebecca shouts, looking at me with hatred in her eyes.

"What should I be grateful for?!" I reply, venom in my voice.

Gasps fill the room, murmurs of shock being heard. I never raise my voice and I know that people are scared of Rebecca. No one wants to get on her bad side, but I have had enough.

"I am sick and tired of your treatment.... I deserve better!"

My head swings to the side, a sting on my cheek. I raise my hand, touching my check. Tears begin to drop from my eyes when I see Dan, who has shock written all over his face.

"Why do you hate me so much?" I ask, looking into his eyes. "Why don't you love me like you love them?"
