《DIEGO'S INNOCENCE》CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

The woman looks livid, it looks looks like she is about to jump me; which makes me want to laugh. I can not help but think back to when I saw her, the woman still looks like she is from the eighteen thousands.

I can see her nice person facade slowly fall off, her eyes looking down at me like she wants to burn me alive. I would be six feet underground if looks could kill.

"What are you doing?" Her husband, Ken, stands from his seat, pulling her back. He looks into her eyes, his eyes looking angry. I can tell that he has anger issues.

The woman's body language changes, it's like she has snapped out of her trance. She looks down, and it looks like she is in pain.

I look at the grip that her husband has on her, I can tell that it is very tight. But her reaction seems off; I have been in arguments and fights, and I know that if someone pulls me from my opponent, I will struggle.

But the woman is silent, no sobbing, and no pulling away. It is like she is used to it.

"Apologize to her, now," The man commands her, offering us a full teeth smile, he is still gripping her arm.

My eyes turn back to the woman, and I can tell that she is still angry. Her fists are clenching, and unclenching. It seems like they both have anger issues.

I would say they are on crack, if I did not know any better. But I do not know any better, and it is their life.

The workers of the most high, are acting like two high humans, who abuse each other, and it is not my business right now.

I am here for Diego, and if it is true that the woman, Anna, is abused, I do not feel sorry for her. She did abuse her child, and karma is a real bitch sometimes.

But I will note this down, it might help, if or when Diego opens a case against them.

"I.... I," The woman takes a deep breathe, looking at me with a fake smile. It looks like she is in one of those fake ass commercials. "I am truly sorry for my behavior," The woman continues, her voice sounding remorseful. She can be an actress because I almost fell for her apology, almost.

"I thought you were someone I met before. The person was so rude to me, and she almost ran me over with a car. I thought she came back to hurt me when I saw you. I am truly sorry,"

I wish I can run her over with my car, but we are indoors, and there are witnesses around. I mean Hunter is not a problem, and I do not think the guards will say anything. But her husband is here, and I also do not want to become a murderer, and she is a grown woman. I was taught to respect elders, even when they do not deserve the respect.

"Its alright wit- ma'am," I force a smile in her direction, wanting to roll my eyes at her. "I understand you.... I mean, we all get mistaken for someone else every once in a while... I completely understand you." I state.

"Thank you for understanding," Anna says, and finally Ken releases her arm.

Anna quickly places a hand on her arm, at the exact same spot that Ken had a hold of. Ken does not even pay attention to her, he walks back to the seat that he once occupied, leaving her standing.

"So... Where were we?" Ken asks, smiling at us. But Hunter looks down at his watch, sighing afterwards.

"I am so sorry, but I have to be somewhere else right now," Hunter stands up after he finishes speaking, offering me a hand. I confusingly take it, standing up as well.

Anna and Ken both have confused expressions on their faces, and I can tell that Anna is in trouble by the side eye that Ken gives her.

"But Sir.... My wife did say sorry to your fiance," Ken says, standing up as well. "We can talk about this. You don't have to leave," Ken pleads, and I do not know why I did not notice before, but the man sounds a little bit drunk.

"Sir, I did not say that we won't meet again," Hunter says. "I said that I have to be somewhere right now. I am a businessman, and my company really needs me right now." Hunter states.

Hunter sounds professional, just like the first time I met him. It is hard to believe that he is the same man that stuffs his face with food every morning, and acts like a child everytime he sees me. And I also just realized that he has not smiled since we got here.

"But we will meet again. Here is my card," Hunter says, handing Ken a card I did not see before. "Contact me before the week ends, or I might get a different man to bless our marriage.... Have a lovely day."

Hunter leads me out of the house, the guards following behind us. We walk down the steps, the guards opening the door for us when we finally get to the cars.

"What was that?" I ask Hunter, leaning more into the seats. "Why did we come here if we aren't going to do anything productive?" I question, looking at Hunter, who is busy on his phone.

"We just came here to meet the two; Diego and I have a plan that we will discuss when we get back home," Hunter says, and I nod at him, knowing that he will not tell me anything.

It takes us an hour to get back to Diego's place, and I admit that I missed the place after I see the familiar dogs that play around the yard.

The police officers are still lined up outside, and I cannot help but wonder if they are not tired of standing all day long. Diego does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and I just know that they are wasting their time.

Hunter and I enter the house a few moments later, and we both go to one of Diego's home office, one that he is always found in. We find him seated behind his MacBook, and it seems like he is on facetime, because I can hear a male's voice coming from the MacBook.

I move to take a seat, while Hunter goes to the mini fridge. He comes to where I am seated, handing me a can of coca cola while he has a Pepsi.

I look at Diego closely, admiring how handsome he looks in a suit. He has glasses on, and I can not help but admire how sexy and cool he looks. The man can rock anything, and everything.

It does not take long for him to end the facetime. He turns to look at Hunter and I, looking at us with curious eyes.

"How did the meeting go?" Diego asks, his eyes lingering more on me, making me blush a little.

"It was alright. Our plan will be in motion in no time," Hunters says, sipping on his Pepsi while pressing on his phone.

"Will you guys finally tell me what the plan is?" I question with a firm voice.

I might be socially anxious, but I am confident when I need to be, and when I am in the presence of people I am used to. I hide my anxiety well, and I do not think a lot of people notice it.

"No," Hunter replies, not even looking at me.

"But—"

"The answer is still no," Hunter interrupts me. I turn to look at Diego, who shrugs his shoulders.

"We will tell you when it goes in the right direction." Hunter says, making me roll my eyes.
