《DIEGO'S INNOCENCE》CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

HUNTER'S POV.
The tension that is in the room can be cut with a knife. Diego and Siara are avoiding each other, and it is weird as hell. And I feel awkward because I am the only one trying to make conversation.
I understand Diego, but Siara? The girl can not stay a second without talking or saying shit.
But maybe it is because Diego is in the room. Maybe she wants to act like a lady in front of Diego: and if she is, then she is stupid.
Girls or guys that change themselves because they like someone are just crazy. The people you like will one day see your true colors, so why act perfect in front of the individual?
Almost everyone can see that Siara likes Diego. The spark I see in her eyes when Diego is near is very noticeable, and the small smiles she gives him when he is in the room is also proof that girly likes Diego.
Siara is stuffing her mouth with waffles, while Diego has his coffee in his left hand, his breakfast half eaten.
I decided to ask Diego to eat with Siara and I today, and he accepted.
I will not lie and say that it was not shocking to me when he agreed to what I asked of him.
Diego does do what I ask of him most times, but that is only when there is no one else involved.
Diego is a person that enjoys his peace. He loves nature, and just being alone, with a glass of wine, his paintbrush and some food at the side.
Diego hates having different individuals around him, and that includes the gang. He is the leader of the gang, but he prefers to do the work in private.
Mr Brown left Diego in charge of the gang when he found out that he had stage four colon Cancer.
Mr Brown was the former leader of the gang, and he and Diego had a very good bond. He made Diego his right hand man when Diego was nineteen, which was actually shocking to a lot of people.
Mr Brown was a very serious man. He and Diego got along very well, and he made sure he trained Diego himself. Mr Brown and Diego went on business trips together as well.
Mr Brown was like a father to Diego, he was a bit harsh with him, but he made sure he showed affection to him. He lost his child to cancer, his child was ten years old when he died, and I think he saw his son in Diego.

Diego and I slept in the streets for eight weeks after we were disowned. Diego's birth givers did not give him his clothes, and because of that he wore the same shirt and trouser during the eight weeks. My guardians also refused to give me my clothes because I supported Diego.
Diego and I were alone in the cold, with no food, no warmth and poor hygiene.
Some people that passed left us some food though, a few people are kind in this world. And I remember a man giving Diego and I a slice of pizza, which we both shared in half.
Some people beat us because of how dirty we looked, and some would laugh at us because of the condition we were in. No one wanted to hire us because they were scared of our smell, and some people told us to our faces that they were afraid that we would give them maggots.
I remember being hurt by the words, and I almost cried as well. I remember Diego telling me to go back to my guardians, and I always said no to him. I had faith that we would survive, and we did.
Mr Brown was passing by when one of the street kids wanted to kill Diego. Diego fought the guy, but the guy stabbed Diego in the stomach.
I remember crying as Diego lay in his own blood, his breathing faint and his pulse slowing fading away.
I prayed a silent prayer, a prayer that had repeated words. I was repeatedly blubbering, please save Diego, till Mr Brown stopped by.
Mr Brown commanded his driver to help carry Diego to the car, not caring that we were stinky and dirty.
Mr Brown took us to his home, where we met his doctor, who helped stitch Diego.
I was grateful to Mr Brown when the doctor said that the cloth that Mr Brown tied against the wound helped prevent severe bleeding. My legs felt weak when the doctor mentioned Diego dying from bleeding, but Mr Brown held me before I could fall down.
I told Mr Brown what happened to us when we were left alone. And I made sure I told him everything, from what Diego's parents did to him, to us both being disowned. And because of that he decided to take us in.
Diego and him clicked after he got better. Mr Brown was fond of Diego, and he did nothing to hide it.

Mr Brown bought us clothes, food, and everything we needed. But Diego did not like the idea of us living off Mr Brown's hard work, and so he told Mr Brown to give us a job. And after a lot of pressuring, Mr Brown introduced us to the gang.
It took time for us to get used to the toxicity and violence, but we did not regret it. The problem started when Diego's depression started affecting his work. I would find Diego with a gun to his head, or a knife to his wrist.
And so I told Mr Brown about it, and Mr Brown found him a theripist, and the theripist happened to be related to Bobby, who insisted on joining the gang.
Diego and I were a little hesitant, but Bobby was too persistent, and because of that, Diego asked Mr Brown to accept Bobby into the gang.
Mr Brown accepted Bobby because he could not say no to Diego, and Diego being good hearted found someone to trian Bobby.
But still you could see the jealousy in Bobby's eyes when everyone respected Diego. And I think Mr Brown giving Diego full power over him and everyone else, was the beginning of the hatred.
I clear my throat after I am done with my breakfast, making the two people present in the room look at me, their eyes no longer on the food or gadgets.
Diego is eating a grape, while Siara drinks from her orange juice. I can see the nervousness on her face, which makes me nod at her, assuring her that everything will be alright.
"Are you alright?" Diego asks, I can hear the worry in his voice, which makes me sad. I never want to worry my brother.
"Yeah, I am." I start, placing my napkin on the table. "Shall we go to the office? We have to talk... all three of us." I state and Diego looks at me with curiosity, but he does not say anything to me. Diego nods and we all stand up from the table.
Diego, Siara and I walk towards the office that is on this floor, none of us saying anything. We walk into the office, all three of us sitting on the sofas that are in the room.
"What did you want to talk about?" Diego asks after we settle down. But a knock comes from the door when I open my mouth to speak, and Diego shouts a come in, after telling me to hold on.
A guard comes into the room with Bobby a second or two later. And I can tell that Bobby is shivering, but he has an expressionless face on, it looks like he is constipated or something.
"Boss, Bobby said he wanted to talk to you," The guard says looking at Diego.
"Alright, Elijah. You can leave." Diego says to the guard, his eyes set on Bobby.
Bobby and Diego do not get along, but they tolerate each other, formally.
The guard leaves, and Diego sits up, looking Bobby in his eyes
"What the fuck do you want, Bobby?" Diego commands, his voice cold, making a shiver of fear pass through me. And I can tell Siara and Bobby feel the same by the way they flinch.
"I- I.... Uhm, I w- was i-invited by Hunter," Bobby stutters looking at me.
Diego looks at me as well, his eyes showing how confused he is.
"Why did you invite him here?" Diego asks, making me give him a nervous smile.
I clear my throat, trying to form the right words to say. Siara has her head bowed down, and I can tell that she is nervous by the way she taps her feet and the way she is chewing her nails.
"When you and Siara left the room yesterday, I decided to continue studying the files," I begin, pausing so I can prepare myself for what is to come. "I stayed up for the night, sleeping for an hour or so, before I went to wake up Siara in the early morning. I told her about what I found out, but I decided to tell you when I had the person involved intront of us. Diego, I would like to introduce you to Bobby.... Bianca's baby daddy."
