《DIEGO'S INNOCENCE》CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

I remember the smile I had when I left the art room last night, my cheeks hurt and my tummy had butterflies.
I slept with a smile on my face and I woke up with it, my cheeks started hurting when Julia told me that Diego sent breakfast for me. I felt like a teenager again, something that is too dangerous. I do not need to give myself false hope, I know that I would be devasted in the end. I know that Diego will leave me with a broken heart, just like my ex did, an ex I never wanted to meet again, but life has always been against me.
My hands clench into fists when I see Eric, a man that I will always dispise.
My eyes lock with his when he finally notices me, I can see that he is shocked to see me.
Bitch must have thought that I will never rise from all the heartbreak he gave me. I wish I can slap him like last time.
But I need to be professional, I am here for work and nothing else.
"This is Ms Rowland, my lawyer." Diego introduces me to Eric. I can feel a burn at the side of my face, evidence that he is looking at me.
Diego makes me nervous and I know that I am suppose to be sending daggers at Eric. But Diego's eyes on me make me feel like a germ that is under a microscope, I want to wiggle my way out of this place.
I force a smile at the man that is infront of me, an evil smirk on his face. I can see that he has aged and he also looks like he has lost weight, but he still has his arrogance. I can see it in his eyes.
"... And this is Eric Banks, my late fiance's brother." Diego says the word fiance with disgust, making me feel curious. I feel like I am an investigator now.
"Nice to see you again, Siara." Eric's perverted ass murmurs as he licks his lips, making me feel nauseous. His eyes look me up and down and I really want to kick him where the sun does not shine.
"I wish I can say the same about you." I state walking to sit on the beautiful chair that is set opposite the one he was seated on.

Diego looks at the both of us with curious eyes. And I can also see the confusion that is in his eyes, but like I expected, he does not pry.
Diego moves to sit on the chair that is next to mine. He looks at Eric who still has a smirk on his face. Eric makes me sick and I am happy to see that Diego is not a fan of him; it would have been horrible pretending to like him.
"We both know that Diego does not like anyone, I wonder why you thought he would like the idiot."
This is one of the rare moments that I agree with my conscious. Diego does not like anyone, I wonder why I thought he would like me.
"Can you take your eyes off her. You need to respect her, and looking at her with lust filled eyes that belong in a brothel is not respect. You thinking with your little dick will just make me punch you in the face, it won't be the first time I do it and we both know that your weak ass will be on oxygen again."
The surprise that I feel is one that I have never felt before. Diego defended me, and he threatened the pervert piece of shit for me.
My surprise turns to a giggle when I see the embrassed look on Eric's face. I wish Diego can beat him infront of me, I want to throw in a slap or two.
Eric looks away from me, looking at his laps and clenching the glass of wine that is in his hand, I am sure someone gave it to him.
"Why did you call me here?" Eric asks with an angry voice. It sounds like he is mumble rapping or something.
"It's good you asked," I say when Diego nods at me. "I wanted to ask about Bianca...." I add, opening my tablet which I had in my hand the entire time.
"Why are we talking about my sister?" Eric questions, looking up at us confusingly. I can tell that he wants to say something disgusting when his lips form a smirk.
But I start speaking before he can form a sentence, my voice sounds cold, a warning that I will not hesitate to slap him across the face if he says shit to me.

Slapping him will be like revenge to me, and I might beat him up for hurting me years ago in the process.
"Don't interrupt me again, Mr Banks. I am here to work, so don't act like we are friends. This is a serious matter, and I promise you that I ain't here to play." Eric shuts up, and I manage to catch a glimpse of Diego, who has a proud look on his face.
I do not know if it is my imagination, but I think I saw a small smile on his face. I do not dwell on that though, if he smiled at me or not, atleast I have something that will give me confident.
Two things happen when someone looks at a person with a proud look, it's either the person becomes clumsy or finds confidence in such situations.
"So like I was saying.... I was informed about Ms Bianca being your sister. Do you think she had any enemies that were out to get her?"
It takes Eric sometime to respond, but when he does I can tell that he is telling some truth.
"Yeah... Bianca was always the talkative type of, and let's not forget a spoiled brat... Bianca had enemies with a lot of people, and I remember her making people cry in school, and public in general." Eric says nervously sipping from his glass.
I let the answer settle in my head before I reply to him, though.
"Do you think any of those people could have hurt her?" I ask typing every detail on my tablet.
"Not those I know of... She usually hurt those that couldn't defend themselves and a lot of them were too forgiving. I doubt they would have done anything to her; plus they are either dead or out of the state." Eric says taking a sip of his wine.
"Alright then. I have another question, though," I say looking at Eric. He nods at me, telling me to ask him whatever it is.
"How was your relationship with Bianca? And where were you when she was getting killed?" Eric has anger on his face when I ask the question.
"What do you imply with that question?" Eric seems to be slower than before, I wonder what I saw in him.
I was naive and stupid, and let's not forget too dumb to see him for who he is.
The more I look at him, the more my head hurts, a sign that I am tired of his presence.
"She is asking you if you are the one that killed Bianca." Diego bluntly says with his leg crossed over the other.
It does not take long for Eric to react, he stands up from his seat, looking at both Diego and I with angry eyes.
"Why would you ask that? Do you think I would kill my sister? Do you think so low of me?" The last question is directed at me and I do not waste time with my response.
"Yes.... Yes I think so low of you." Diego chuckles while Eric has a look of disbelief on his face.
"You know what?" Eric turns his back to us. "I have better things to do. You guys are here accusing me of shit and I am not here for it. Learn to stay in your lane. And Siara, it was nice seeing your ugly ass again. I am glad I got rid of it though," Eric walks off, shouting the last sentence.
I chuckle when I see the dramatic man, and his foolshiness walk away.
"What a drama queen," I murmur to which Diego agrees.
"Do you think he knows something that he isn't telling us?" I ask.
"Yes." Diego replies with no hesitation.
