《DIEGO'S INNOCENCE》CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Advertisement
I swallow hard, almost choking as my father and Mother's eyes turn to me, their stare making me want to hide in a ditch or river.
"Yes. You never told us who the man is: and you also did not tell us the case you were given," Dad joins in as he puts his spoon down.
I really want to hide right now. I just know that my parents will not like my answer. Diego is known in this city, he is known for doing things, bad things.
I feel my throat tighten as my skin forms goosebumps. I know that my parents will not accept me working for Mr Martino. The man is known for murder, selling drugs, human trafficking and a lot of other things, which are way worse.
"I-I...uhm," I clear my throat while my mind starts coming up with excuses. "I can't tell anyone my client's name, for safety reasons, he is a powerful person." I quickly say, happy for coming up with such a lie.
My parents look at me with unconvinced looks, but I am thankful when they nod their heads in agreement.
"Alright. But, can you atleast tell us what crime he committed?" Dad asks as his intense eyes connect with my nervous eyes. The answer I am about to give them will be so stupid, I just want the ground to open up and swallow me.
"About that," I nervously chuckle. "I don't know what crime he committed, but I do know that I will ask him in...." I check my wristwatch, panicking when I see that I have to leave. "An hour, if I leave now."
I stand up as my parents look at me with surprise. I grab my backpack as I walk towards them, giving both of them kisses on their foreheads.
"I love you guys; and I promise to tell you somethings when I get to know them." I say as I wave at them, their lips forming a small smile.
"You need to start waking up early! I wish I put a bet on you being late!" I hear Mom's voice shout, as I close the kitchen door.
I chuckle in response, knowing that I will never be too early for anything, even if I wake up hours before. I am always distracted by something or just lazy to do anything, so it's like a routine to me.

I walk towards my car, opening it and entering it while throwing my bag in the back seat.
I quickly start the car, driving out of the garage and into the main road. The song mirror by Lil Wayne comes on a moment later, and I begin singing along, the song being one of my favorites.
The lyrics and emotion in the song make me relate in a way, because during my rise and falls, I am my only friend.
My parents and the other people I know may comfort me, they can tell me that they understand but only I can understand my pain.
I am still thankful that they are right there by my side. I had and still have my mental breakdowns, but people being there to support me cheers me up for a bit. I tell myself that I am beautiful, my freckles and petite slender figure is perfect.
I was bullied for having the body I have, and it did depress me. I had mental breakdowns in my room, and I almost committed suicide but my parents were there for me. They stopped me before the knife could connect with my wrist and they took me to therapy, which helped me. But my parents just being there was enough to help me heal.
I still have doubts about myself, but I tell myself that I am enough.
I stop my car before I can hit a group of ladies, they are four in total and they all look angry.
I get down from the car when I see that one of the ladies has fallen down.
"I am so sorry," I murmur as I try to help the lady up, but she pushes me away before I can even touch her.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" The woman yells as the other ladies help her up. "You almost killed us!" She cries out.
The woman looks to be in her late fifties. She is in a dress that reaches her ankles, some sandals and a neckless with a cross which is accompanied by a rosary on her neck.
"I am so sorry, ma'am," I say looking at her. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I am truly sorry," My voice has plead in it, but I do not care.
The woman fell down because of me and I have to make sure that she is alright. My car did not hit her and I did manage to stop it a few feet away. But the fall could have hurt her.

"I do forgive you, but what you did was stupid," The woman murmurs looking me in the eyes, hatred present in her voice. I am about to respond to her but she continues to speak. "But what do I expect from a lady like you. Your choice of clothing tells me what I need to know."
I stare down at my clothes. I am in a white sleeveless summer dress that reaches my middle thighs and black slippers.
"What's wrong with my clothes?" I ask confused.
"You can't see that your arms are out? And your thighs are on full display. Your body is a temple, you need to dress modesty." The woman snorts as the other women murmur in agreement. "Women like you are the reason that men are led into temptation."
I feel anger as the women look at me in distaste.
"You have no right to tell me that," I say with anger in my voice my hands clenching into a fist. "My choice of clothing is not your concern: and men's eyes are what lead them into temptation. So, go preach your modesty to someone else, cause I have somewhere to be." I state.
I watch as their mouths open in anger, while the lady that fell down clenches her teeth, her eyes full of anger.
I walk towards my car, entering it and driving away from the modest women.
I drive with anger, I hate people that think that they know what is right and always preach about things they do not even follow themselves.
My anger turns into nervousness as I near the house of the man himself.
I park my car in front of the tall gates and I hear a voice that belongs to a male a few seconds later. I become startled till I see a small speaker on the wall.
"Who are you? And who are you here to see?" The man questions, his voice sounding serious.
"I am Siara Rowland and I am here to see Mr Martino," I speak into the speaker, my voice sounding serious.
"Give me a second," I hear a beep a few seconds later, which tells me that I have been put on hold.
I think he went to consult the people inside. People and security, it's crazy.
I wait for a few seconds and I finally hear the guard's voice again.
"Welcome Ms Rowland," The male says as the gates opens. I start my car and I see a few guards standing in front of the gate, they are lined up as I drive towards the house.
My jaw drops in awe as I see the house, the word house is not enough to discribe what I see, the place is a mansion.
I drive around the fountain, the fountain looks so expensive.
The whole place is beautiful and I have not even entered the mansion yet.
I step out of my car, stepping on the pavement with delicacy. I do not want to ruin anything.
I switch off the car, grabbing my things and closing the doors. I turn around slowly, looking up at the house, and seeing a few police men and Hunter standing in front of it.
I slowly walk towards them, my backpack on my shoulder.
"Welcome Siara," Hunter has a smile on his face as I near him and his words make me realize that it is not a dream. I am about to see the guy I like, again.
AUTHOR'S NOTE.
I am watching wwe elimination chamber right now, and let me tell you. It's crazy!!!
I loved that Roman won. Ronda and Naomi made me happy. I wanted to see Alexia or Rhea win, but I am also happy that Bianca won. Drew Mcintire needs to get rid of that sword; like dude 😭. I wanted Lita to win, the whole match was good but the ending was horrible. Seth needs to win the next match, cause I will go crazy.
Nevermind, wrestling is shit😭. Roman better win at wrestlemania!
I might type another chapter before I sleep cause I am going to be up till 00, maybe:-)
Guess who the lady was, and she will make an appearance in the near future (if I don't forget about her) I always forget characters, I need help on that.
And I am so sorry for not updating yesterday, I was busy and if I don't update today then tomorrow I might update twice, maybe:-)
Be safe and happy❤️.
