《DIEGO'S INNOCENCE》CHAPTER NINE

I stare at the doctor that is checking on Mr Martino, he looks scared; I can see the fear from where I am standing, the hand shaking is also a give away.

I feel someone's presence next to me, which makes me avert my eyes from the doctor. I look at the person, and I find Bobby who is chewing on his fingernails, his eyes on me.

I raise my eyebrows at him, wanting to know what he wants and I think he gets the message.

"I was thinking of taking you home now," Bobby whispers into my ear. "We already know that Mr Martino will be discharged today. And you can't ask him any questions because Hunter will not allow it. Mr Martino is not in his best state right now, and him getting stressed will be the downfall of both of us. Hunter will kill us before we say run," I can hear the fear in Bobby's voice as he says the last words, and I can tell that his words are true.

Hunter looks like he can do that, especially for Mr Martino. I can see the care and love in his eyes as he looks at Mr Martino.

I can tell that the man lives to protect Mr Martino. I saw how he moved to stand next to the doctor when the doctor got the medicine and injection, I also saw how he looked at the doctor with a threat in his eyes.

I look back at the the two men that are standing next to each other, their attention on Mr Martino who is looking at nothing.

Mr Martino seems to be deep in thought as the doctor injects some drugs into his arm. The doctor looks like he can faint, if not die next to the two men.

I remember when he entered the room, hearing the man's fearful voice was actually funny, but seeing his scared face was pitiful.

The doctor looked like he could pee on himself, I think seeing Mr Martino scared him. I would be scared too, Mr Martino is a handsome man but his face has this look which can make you run away.

Hunter has a bit of a personality, he does sound a bit rude but I think anyone can choose to approach him and not Mr Martino.

I did not expect to see a man like Hunter though, I thought he would look like a hippo or crocodile.

Faces can be misleading sometimes, especially Bobby's and the crazy guard that came to tell us about the Underboss' arrival.

Bobby did not move from his seat, he sat in the garden looking at space while sighing out loud: it was concerning.

I kept asking him why he was behaving like that but he brushed me off. I wanted to slap him but I let it slide cause I knew he was passing through a lot.

We actually walked here very slowly, we wasted twenty minutes walking. But we did manage to hear some of the words that were exchanged between the two men, Hunter and Mr Martino aka Diego.

I do not care if we did not respect the two men's privacy, we did get to hear a lot of things and I got to learn somethings.

It seems that Martino is more powerful then I thought, more powerful than the man called Hunter.

Mr Martino also has people that are working with him outside this building, powerful people who also got him into this mess.

I also learnt that Mr Martino is suicidal. I did not expect to hear that, I actually froze when I heard the words.

I mean Diego or Mr Martino looks so good, he looks like everything is alright even though he is in prison.

The man does have the bad boy vibe with him. But suicide? I did not expect to hear that and I still fail to believe it.

Mr Martino does not have the tired eyes, he does not look like someone that can be suicidal. I would think he was happy if he smiled or laughed.

It's sad to think that he would have died a day after us officially meeting. I just met the guy and I already feel this connection with him, even if I know that he will be a pain in the ass for me.

I would have been shocked if he died, I would have asked so many questions. I would have been thinking about the whys, I would have been like those people that say the words 'He looked healthy and so well!'

I wonder what goes on in his head. Is it anxiety? Is it depression?

I have no answers, but I do know that Mr Martino is a mysterious man.

I am brought out of my thoughts by a pinch on my arm. I automatically put my hand on the spot that has been pinched, looking up at Bobby who has a concerned expression.

"What's wrong with you?" I murmur while looking at Bobby, my hand gently rubbing my arm.

"Nothing is wrong with me, what's wrong with you?" Bobby asks defensively making me raise my eyebrows with confusion. Bobby must understand me because he starts speaking.

"You didn't answer me, I also tried calling your name but you had this lost expression on your face."

I finally understand him but my arm does not, the man could have gently pushed me aside; I would have answered him.

"Oh, it's nothing. And no you can't take me home because I came with my car," I murmur looking at Hunter and the Doctor, deciding to ignore Bobby's craziness.

"Ok, but I can still escort you to your car, right?" Bobby asks, I can see that he will not give up so I nod at him.

"But I will have to tell Mr Martino that I am leaving," Bobby murmurs an alright when the words leave my mouth.

I sigh out loud, walking towards the hospital bed. I feel goosebumps on my skin as the three men's eyes move to look at me. But my eyes are on Mr Martino.

Mr Martino looks at me with a blank expression which makes me more nervous.

"I-I..." I clear my throat. "I just wanted to tell you that I am leaving now, I will be back to see you some other time, if it's alright?" I murmur to which Mr Martino nods.

I walk towards the door when I see that he will not say anything to me, but I stop when I hear a voice, which is disappointingly not Mr Martino's.

"Ms Rowland," Hunter calls out which makes me turn to look at him. "Bobby will bring you to Diego's home in three weeks time. Diego needs to rest for sometime." Hunter says looking at Diego with a stern look when he says the says he says the last sentence.

I nod at him, turning to leave the room.

Bobby follows me to my car, giving me a wave when I safely enter it.

I drive out of the Supreme jail, sighing out loud when I finally reach the main road.

"This will be a lot of work and emotion." I silently say as the song pills n' potion plays in the background.
