Chapter 112 - Lu JingYan’s nightmare might have something to do with her (3)
Chi Cheng docilely finished his lunch before dragging Chi Ying to work on some crafts with him.
He did not have the habit of napping.
Normally, he’d be sitting on a little couch in front of the television at this hour watching Animal World on a kids channel.
But now that his mother was home, he wanted to work on crafts with her.
Chi Cheng held his mother’s hand and led her to his drawing room.
Chi Cheng’s bright eyes looked around the room and finally rested on a cartoon DIY electric pottery wheel machine.
Chi Cheng had been curious about it for a while now, but had never really played with it before.
Chi Ying smiled and helped him with the preparation.
The moist clay, under the rhythm, spun out the primitive shape of a pot.
A blur of gray was spinning quickly.
Chi Cheng was curious. He carefully tried to touch it with his white and soft little hand.
A poke from his index finger and it left a small hole on the wall of the pot.
A few spins later, the hole had disappeared.
The side became perfect once again.
Chi Cheng’s eyes widened madly.
Using his unique way of thinking, he tried to figure out how it all worked.
Then, under Chi Ying’s instructions, Chi Cheng placed his little hands over it.
But Chi Cheng was a bit young for clay work.
He was a little lacking in his control and the greyish clay got all over his hands and face.
He also didn’t have a good sense of balance or center of gravity. As such, the shape between his palms was very unstable.
He did, however, try very hard.

When Chi Cheng was focused, he’d frown in the same way that Lu JingYan did.
Granted, his brows were small and light in color, so they did not make him look fierce when he frowned. It only made him appear even cuter than he already was.
Chi Cheng worked hard on adjusting the pot and his hands were covered in clay.
He kept on adding more water and the clay became thinner and thinner.
And finally, the entire pot leaned toward one side and collapsed.
Chi Cheng gave a soft and milky exclamation, “Oh!”
Chi Ying could relate to Chi Cheng’s disappointment and her heart tightened.
Chi Cheng had hoped against all hope that the proper shape would form and had been focusing on it for nearly twenty minutes.
He was very disappointed that it was ruined.
Even for an adult, not being able to achieve what they were after would be disappointing.
That was when Chi Ying realized that she should not have let Chi Cheng try working with pottery so early in age.
It would have been better if they had worked on a drawing, or some other sort of craft more suited for his age. That would have given him a sense of achievement.
It was easy for one to lose interest and confidence when one’s ability was limited.
Chi Cheng’s lips drooped downward and in a milky voice he said, “Mommy, it collapsed.”
Chi Ying encouraged him, “Mommy could only maintain it for ten minutes without it collapsing but you maintained it for twenty minutes.”
She pinched his face that now resembled that of a calico cat from the clay. “How are you so mighty, Chi Cheng?”
Chi Cheng giggled, “Really?”
When he smiled, all his white, crystal clear baby teeth were there for all to see. They were delicate and cute and enough to bring sweetness to one’s heart.

In reality, just having his hands covered in clay was sufficient for him to feel that the activity was novel and interesting.
Chi Cheng was only disappointed that he wasn’t able to make a pot to give to his mother.
What Chi Ying didn’t know was that Chi Cheng equated crafts with the process of creating gifts.
***
Chi Ying carried Chi Cheng, who was now completely covered in clay, drew some warm water and cleaned him up. His milky white and tender cheeks that were slowly revealed from the greyish clay, were delicate and fragile.
Chi Cheng bounced in Chi Ying’s arms and said softly, “Don’t be sad, Mommy. I have prepared other gifts for you.”

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
