Chi Ying could see that Cheng Huan stood up all of a sudden. She couldn’t hear what he was saying, but she could still sense the aura coming from him.

Some fallen leaves twirled around her feet.

She frowned slightly.
Thinking about it for a little bit, she said to Jiang NingNing, “Let me go over there for a second.”
Jiang NingNing’s pupils contracted some. What happened last night made her feel fear and intimidation. She spoke with worry, “Ying…”
The makeup artist gave her lips a dim look but her iris was black and bright. “Director Gu is not obligated to help me out. Standing up against Cheng Huan would make him collateral damage.”
Jiang NingNing was still worried, “But…”
“Don’t worry. Cheng Huan won’t hurt me.”
“Okay, then. You be careful, alright?”
“I shall.”
Chi Ying started walked toward Cheng Huan. Her face pale from the makeup.
Director Gu stood with his back to her. His back was tall and strong.
He perfected blocked Cheng Huan’s ruthless look.
All of a sudden, Cheng Huan lifted up his hand.
Chi Ying could sort of see that he answered a call.
The very next moment, Cheng Huan turned around…
And left.
Chi Ying couldn’t see Cheng Huan’s look but she could feel the thick hatred radiating from him.
It was even fuller and thicker than it was earlier.
As though he wanted to tear the wind apart and startled the boulders.
When she walked closer, all she could see was the stiff back of Director Gu standing at the exact same spot.

Was Director Gu… threatened by Cheng Huan?
Chi Ying touched the tip of his shirt gently with her fingertip. Her voice, too, was soft, “Director Gu.”
The tips of her fingers were cold. Gu YuanChen was a little surprised.
He turned around and noticed that her hair was a bit messy. When the wind blew, they brushed against her face softly. As she walked over there quite quickly, her cheeks were a little bit red.
Gu YuanChen has the urge to brush her hair back behind her ear for her.
His stiffed fingers moved a bit but he put his hand back down.
“Chi Ying…” He unfurrowed his frown and, only after he had calmed himself, did he allow a bit of anger and admonishment into his eyes. “Why did you come over here?”
“I am a bit worried.” There was naked concern in her limpid eyes.
Gu YuanChen felt his heart ached.
He followed behind Chi Ying on her way back to the homestay last night and saw everything that had happened in the woods.
He was angry and found it amusing at the same time.
What Chi Ying had done was very dangerous. All these years and all these women, none of them dared to send him to the police station.
But deep down inside, he was pleased.
Shortly after he returned to his place, he received a call from Lu JingYan.
The voice from the other end of phone was even more cold and controlled than his own.
“Take good care of her tonight.”
He snickered.
Perhaps, this was the first time he felt regretful after all these years.
Controlling his own emotions, Gu YuanChen said to her, “Cheng Huan has left.”
He saw sparks of happiness flickered in Chi Ying’s beautiful pupils. Her voice was light and soft. “Thank you,” she said.

“It wasn’t me,” said Gu YuanChen immediately.
His eyes darkened and his tone has a hint of blue in it.
Chi Ying smiled. “Well, thank you anyway.”
He gave her a deep look.

The last part of the filming in City Z was the scene between Chi Ying and Qi Yuan.
When the male lead’s faith was crushed, it was the mute girl who saved him regardless of costs.
When Gu YuanChen said “Qi Yuan” and “Chi Ying”, everybody on site marveled.
They couldn’t deny that Chi Ying had been the center of attention since the beginning of filming.
