Meli jumped upward, surging in a blur toward the fireball that was closest to the ground. He outstretched the hand which held his sword hilt, swinging it toward the flames. "Full Counter!"
With that, the attack stopped midair, bending slightly around the form of the captain because of its sudden stop. It then surged back at the attacker, flinging itself back to the person who had initiated the attacker.
Speaking of which.
Several large creatures came flying into view. They looked like flying stingrays, with my larger mouths, full of menacingly large and sharp teeth. They were a pale lavender on their undersides, and a deep purple on their backs. Their eyes glowed with a fluorescent yellow, and their screeches could be heard for a few hundred miles at least.
"Damn, they're here already..." Meli muttered, then saw the several fireballs beginning to surge toward the town. He looked over at me. "(Y/N)."
I blew a strand of air out of my face, stepping forward slightly. My gaze swept over the sky. There were twenty of them; fourteen small, and six of a mediocre size. I'm guessing Meli had countered the one with the most magical energy, and thus, was the largest one. Scoffing, I raised my hand upward. I pointed my outstretched palm in their direction. "Blaze Storm."
Fireballs matching the size of the largest fireball, which Meli had countered, and that I usually considered rather small, surged from my palm. About four connected with each of the opposing flames, enveloping them entirely. After a few moments of a particularly cool light show, the fire in the sky dissipated. I crossed my arms and looked up at the stingray things.
I had gotten rid of the attack within the span of a few seconds, so they hadn't advanced much farther. However, I could now make out the people standing atop the creatures. Three Holy Knights stood on them- two on the one at the head of the pack, and the third on the one following theirs. I growled at the sight of the two females on the front one.
I didn't recognize the shorter of the two, although she had a particularly ominous power coming from her, which was eerily similar to her partner's. She had short, pastel lavender hair, pale skin, and deep purple eyes that lacked pupils. The other girl, however, I recognized very easily.
Guila.
"Hey!" One of the crowd members shouted. "It's the Holy Knights! They're here to save us!"
"Please hurry and defeat the Eight Deadly Sins!" Another joined, causing my eyebrow to twitch. We literally just saved you assholes from their attack.
"Who do you think you are, stopping Holy Knight attacks?"
"You do realize you all would've died had we not done that!" I shouted in annoyance, but an audience member shouted in response.
"Crush the Eight Deadly Sins!"
"Quit your yammering," Ban spoke, approaching the man who had yelled the majority of the praises of the Knights. He reared back in fear as the Fox Sin approached him. "I'll pull all your hair, nails, and teeth out then feed you to the pig~"
Hawk's eyes widened, "What? Feed me?" Ban glared at him, so he quickly nodded in affirmation. "Oh, uh, yeah! Feed me human flesh!"
Ban glared menacingly at the crowd before shouting. "Now leave, you pricks. We'll kill you."
There were screams and shouts as people began running away from Byzel Rock. Once they were all filed out, Ban returned to the group, causing me to chuckle.

"So spooky," I teased, causing him to smack me across the back of the head. I laughed as I rubbed my sore cranium, "Hey!"
He smirked in response, mocking me with a high pitched voice. "Spooky."
I laughed again, then realized the ominous power of the Holy Knights was extremely close. I looked over, frowning as I saw the three Knights jumping from their place atop the stingray creatures. Their powers were strangely large- not as strong as us, but up there.
"They're well equipped," Diane spoke. "On par with our sacred treasures."
"And their probably much stronger than Guila was back at the Capitol of the Dead," Ban added.
"Not to mention there's three of them," I grumbled, causing Meli to sigh.
"We'll have to split up for now," Meli spoke, and all of us nodded. I looked to the side, seeing a large fireball crashing into the town. I flinched visibly, remorse striking me. I probably could've stopped that, had I been paying attention...
As we began to run apart, King stopped me. I looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. "Let me take your sacred treasure."
My eyes widened, and my gaze quickly contorted into one of confusion. "Why?"
"I don't want you losing it- I'm surprised you even kept it this long," he explained. I narrowed my eyes.
"You're lying."
"No, I'm not. I don't want you losing it in battle."
"You're not talking about the whip."
"Yes, I-"
"No, you're not, King," I said, then sighed. I smiled smally. "Look, earlier was just because of the Danafor symbol, okay? It took my by surprise. I'm fine."
He bit his lip. "I know, but... I don't want a repeat of what happened last time you lost your cool..."
I groaned, rubbing my temples. "I can't believe I'm doing this," I muttered, unlatching my whip from its place on my side and handing it to him. I rolled my eyes and placed a hand on my hip. "I hope you know that I might die by giving that to you."
He grinned, taking it. "You won't."
I scoffed, "Thanks."
"Yeah," He said, and there was a silence. "Look, (y/n)-"
"I'm fine, King. You don't need to worry about me," I smiled, "Ban's already on my ass, and with my luck, all three Holy Knights are going to attack the two of us while you're out saving people in the main part of town."
He laughed, then turned around. "Good luck."
"You too."
We ran in different directions, pairing off. Meli and Diane were together, along with me and Ban, King was going to the main part of town to evacuate people, and Hawk and Ellie were going to find a place to hide so that they didn't become targets. Ban and I went into the outskirts of town, walking around and helping the scattered survivors out of broken buildings. We gave them to able people, who helped them escape, then continued to search.
"Geez, they sure like being flashy," Ban hummed, lightly touching a decrepit wall, causing it to topple over almost entirely.
"Yeah, no shit," I snorted, kicking a piece of brick that lay on the almost entirely scorched ground.
There was a silence as we continued to walk, but I could sense the tension. It was a matter of time before Ban asks about what happened during the fight.
"You grew up in Danafor, right?"
Aaaaaand there it is.

I sighed, shoving my hands in my pockets. "Yeah," I muttered, "I did."
"That's why you started crying," he said. It wasn't a question, more like a vocal confirmation of what he had thought.
"I knew him. An old Holy Knight who protected the people," I whispered, kicking another brick. That one was scorched black, I like the other, red-orange one. "I... I though he died... just like everyone else..."
I could feel tears welling up again. I wiped furiously at my cheeks, until they burned bright red.
"Look, (y/n), I-" he was cut off by a gasp. My eyes widened, a single tear falling as I whirled to face him. I just barely saw the sword fly past his face- him dodging it by a fraction of an inch. Someone flew toward him and sent him crashing into a building. It was the girl Holy Knight I didn't recognize from before.
She had her sword sticking out of his chest, and he was staring blankly at her. I puffed out my cheeks and rolled my eyes. And I was worried for a second. Tch.
I began walking toward the two, hearing her talking to him. The only words I heard were, "I'm going to carve my name into your heart," which came from the Holy Knight.
"He'd probably just grow a new one," I spoke from behind them, causing her to turn her head. "So it'd be a waste of time."
"Hm?" She mused, then smiled. "Ah, you must be (y/n), the forgotten Sin of Despond. Probably useless if you aren't remembered among your companions."
"Excuse me!" I huffed, stomping my foot. "I'm
not useless! If anything, you're useless. I'll kick you ass right here, right now! Bring it on! C'mon, let go of him and let's go at it! You against me! I'll kill you in a second!"
"Really (y/n)?" Ban asked, causing my cheeks to burn red. I crossed my arms and huffed.
"Hey! She insulted me, I can't just take it lightly!"
"I insult you all the time and you just laugh it off," he countered, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. I scoffed, kicking a rock so it impales his arm; it healed almost immediately.
"That's different!" I Huffed indignantly.
"While I don't want to interrupt your lover's quarrel," the Holy Knight spoke, causing me to flush even brighter.
"L-lover's quarrel?" I squeaked.
"I only have business with Ban," she continued, ignoring me. She turned to face him, pushing the sword in her grasp further into his chest. "I'm Jericho. The Holy Knight you humiliated at Baste."
"Oh, barber boy~" Ban hummed, "You into cross-dressing?"
He kicked her backward, causing her to soar in my direction. I shook my head, trying to clear my flush. Lover's quarrel? Who does she think she is...
I threw my fist forward as she was just in front of me, making her abruptly crash into the floor. She coughed up a small bit of blood.
"Then you should remember that I'm immortal," The crimson-eyed man spoke, standing up as his wound healed. He began walking toward the two of us, but it took the both of us a moment to see that the wound on his chest wasn't closing. I cocked my head curiously.
"Hey, tree legs, your bleeding," I pointed out, causing him to scoff. The girl, Jericho, shot upward and moved back so that the three of us stood in a triangle formation.
"No shit," he said, rolling his eyes.
"You Sins are no match for us Reactors~" She purred, swinging her sword carelessly.
"Reactors?" I asked as she moved toward us. She swung her sword.
"Godspeed Cross Slash," she spoke monotonously, and her sword began striking at us at an impressive speed repetitively. I guess the name makes sense.
I dodged the majority of them, but a few hits struck me. It seemed, however, that Ban was no longer used to dodging (since most of the time he just took hits). He was sent flying backward, straight into the ground. He coughed up blood as the girl smirked. I looked at my thighs, which was the place I had gotten hit. I touched the blood leaking from one of the deeper cuts, then frowned. Dark purple markings stretched down my legs, covering the marks and healing them. I cancelled the power, only intending to use it to heal, then looked to the girl.
"Hey Ban," I laughed, looking at him. "You're bleeding."
He scoffed, chuckling quietly. I turned to face Jericho, frowning. "And now I have to deal with you by myself. How annoying."
"Think you'll lose?" She taunted, holding her sword toward me. "You'd be right if you did."
I laughed, throwing my hood back so that my face was no longer hidden. "Bitch, please. I'm one of the Eight Deadly Sins." I pointed back at Ban. "Not all of us go down so easy."
"Hey!" The aforementioned man growled, but he still couldn't move, so he just glared at me from his laying-down position. I grinned in response, giggling quietly. The Holy Knight made a 'tch' sound, rolling her eyes.
She shot towards me, sword first. I rolled my eyes, stepping out of the way. Once she reached a place next to me, I outstretched my foot, kicking her and sending her flying. She slid across the floor, quickly stopping herself.
"Gods-"
I was already on top of her, my knee connecting with her jaw. Hard. She spat a small bit of blood, biting her tongue as her attempt at using her power was interrupted.
"You're weak," I said as she shot backwards, flipping 180° so that she landed on her back. I walked after her. "The only reason you managed to land a hit on Ban and knock him down is because you caught us by surprise. Well, you caught him by surprise."
I stepped over her laying form, looking down at her, her face was contorted in anger. I smiled, "I would normally spare you, but you hurt my teammate. That makes you a threat. Sorry, Je-"
I was cut off by a sword being shoved through my stomach. Feeling the cold metal interacting with my body, which was already attempting to stitch itself back together, I looked down with a raised eyebrow, then back up at her. She smiled, returning my gesture.
"Bye," she spoke, "Godspeed Cross Slash."
Blood came spurting out of my mouth as her sword cut through my body. After about thirty cuts, she stopped, my body being thrashed almost completely. She smiled down at me, I smiled back. It was weak, but still a smile.
"(Y/N)!" Ban's voice came out strained.
"Normally I wouldn't spare you, but you intrigue me. And you managed to get a few hits in on me, which is impressive," she spoke as purple markings appeared across my face. They slowly began to wrap around my body, reattaching my separated skin and damaged organs and bones.
I chuckled raspily as she turned away from me, beginning to walk away in Ban's direction. My vocal chords had been cut, and were just barely healing, "You mangy bitch..."
Blood welled up in my throat- probably the excess that poured out of my broken arteries and insides. I turned my head as it spurted out of my throat in a small explosion, splatting onto the floor next to me with an unflattering noise. I groaned as my bones reattached, loud snapping sounds coming from my body. My head rolled to the side, issuing a loud pop. I sighed, turning to look toward Jericho and her place next to Ban.
She had her foot on Ban's chest, and newly found lipstick that looked suspiciously like blood. I reached for my sacred treasure, eyes widening as I found it wasn't on my belt. Damn you, King. I told you I might die because I didn't have it.
"Fuck it," I muttered, then charged at the Knight. I launched myself off the ground with my dominant foot, rearing my fist back as I soared toward her. As my fist was about to make contact, there was a large explosion.
The air was knocked out of my lungs as I slammed into the ground, groaning from next to Ban. I noticed that Meli was laying next to him. So Guila got him, huh? I wonder where Diane is....
Wait, shit. Now I have to fight both of these Knights by myself.
Are you serious...
"Are you just about done, Jericho?" The explodey-Knight spoke. "Oh, what happened to your lips?"
"I was just getting warmed up, and it's already finished," Jericho laughed, gesturing to me and Ban.
"Oh, fuck you guys," I groaned, standing up. Both of their eyes widened. Well, Guila just kind-of stretched her face out, since here eyes were always closed. Her face almost immediately changed back to normal, infuriating smile and all.
"Oh, hello again, Raven Sin (y/n)," she smiled, positioning her sword. "I recall that last time I beat you and three other Sins, even without my current power boost."
"Yeah, yeah," I yawned, leaning to the side, cracking my back, and stretching out my arms. "You're great, I suck, or whatever."
She furrowed her brows, "You seem surprisingly calm for the position your in. Jericho and I have defeated Fox Sin Ban and Dragon Sin Meliodas- and you don't even have your sacred treasure."
"Mhm," I affirmed, then but my hands around my mouth to form a sort of megaphone. God, I hope this works.... I practically screamed. "KING! GET YOUR SORRY ASS OVER HERE AND GIVE ME MY SACRED TREASURE!"
There was silence for a while, the two Knights on either side of me seemed at a loss of what to do. After a moment, the boy flew over, holding my whip in his hand. He looked on either side of me and widened his eyes. I outstretched my hand, and he tossed me the whip.
"Now go evacuate, I've got this."
"But (y/n)-"
"No, no," Jericho spoke, dismissing King. "We will allow you to leave since this girl feels so confident in her abilities."
"Excuse me, I am a woman who is probably thousands of years older than you," I retorted, then turned to my comrade. "Go King," I said, lashing the whip so a loud crack sounded, grinning. "Worst case scenario I lose my shit and kill them both."
"You are too confident for your own good, Raven Sin," Guila spoke, smiling her sickeningly sweet smile as the Grizzly Sin flew away, looking back worriedly.
"I know," I laughed, then got into a fighting stance, grinning wildly. "Now let's hurry this up so I can beat your ass.
