《See Me》15

I was sitting on a bench at the front of the school, my legs crossed and tucked underneath me. I was wishing I had brought a sweater to school by now, as the tiny crop top I was wearing was doing nothing to protect me from the cool breeze gusting through the air.
My dad couldn't pick me up for another two hours, at least, and then he would have to go right back to his office. I could walk, but my house was across town, and it would take me just as long. I was wishing I had cash on me, so I could call and ask Austin to meet me. I already wanted to be high again. I wondered if that was concerning, but deep down I already knew it was. Who cares though? Lots of things were concerning as of late.
I was trying not to remember Carter's words to me. I think they bothered me so badly because I knew they were true. I had done exactly what he said. I was a tease.
And that makes two guys to tell me that I was such. Well, Carter said it. Jax just implied it. Strongly.
Maybe I was the problem after all.
"What are you doing here?" I looked up to see Zane standing there, his keys in his hand, his body was pointing towards the parking lot.
"My ride bailed." I told him.
Zane looked at me, he seemed torn, probably wondering how he could leave me here without seeming like an asshole.
"Come on, I'll take you." He waved at me with his hand and starting walking towards his car. When he didn't hear me follow, he turned back towards me.
"Would you really rather sit here in the cold than let me drive you home?" His eyes looked hurt again, like I had offended him. I don't know why he cared so much.
I weighed the options before rising to my feet. Hopefully he would keep the probing questions to a minimum this time, at least. My experiences with Zane in the last couple of days told me the opposite.
I looked for the SUV he had driven to the lake house this weekend but I couldn't spot it. I watched as Zane approached a black Mercedes before remembering the SUV was his dads. I climbed into the car, noticing the posh interior, the car even had a faint new car smell. Looks like Zane was a spoiled rich kid like everyone else at this school.
"What kind of music do you like?" Zane asked me as he got into the drivers seat.
"Whatever is fine."
He nodded before selecting a song on his phone, and a mellow pop punk song filled the car. I was pleasantly surprised by his music choice, I had figured him to be into the same mumble rap as the other guys. He was quiet as he pulled out of the parking lot and starting driving on the road to get to my house.

"So who was supposed to drive you home?" Zane asked me, because apparently his new favourite thing to do was ask me things.
"Carter." I mumbled, watching the world outside the window start to blur as the car accelerated onto the highway.
"Why did he bail?"
I sighed. "I don't know."
"Yes you do." Zane challenged back without a beat.
Of course, Zane the human lie detector.
"I didn't want to watch a movie with him." That was the short version, anyways.
"So he just left you at the school?" Zane's voice was tensed, like he was angry.
"I guess." I muttered.
Zane muttered something under his breath that I couldn't catch.
"Why don't you have a car?" He asked me.
"Why, because my dad has money I automatically get everything I want?" I spat back at him. Not having a car was a sore spot.
"Just a question, Seren." Zane said calmly, like my words had no effect on him. He paused for a second before continuing. "Cain told me you were high in class today."
"Why is everyone so fucking interested in what I'm doing?" I muttered quietly, hoping he wouldn't hear me.
Never took you for a snitch, Cain.
Zane seemed to be finished with his interrogation now, so I focused my attention on the music that was playing. A new song had just come on, and from the first word the singer belted out, I was intrigued. I leaned my head back against the headrest and closed my eyes, listening to the lyrics. Zane seemed to realize I was taken with this song, because he turned up the volume. It was loud enough now that I wouldn't be able to hear him if he decided to talk again.
Some of the words the guy was singing had captivated me. Specifically when he sang, have you seen this girl? She's been running through my dreams. And the neighbours said she moved away, it's funny how it rained all day.
It wasn't until the female started singing that I was completely moved.
Just washing you out of my hair, and out of my mind.
I wish I could do that to Jax.
"Again?" Zane asked as the song came to an end.
I nodded and he started the song over again. He ended up repeating it three times before we finally pulled up at my house. The song seemed like it was telling a story, and I was eager to figure it out.
"It's called Remembering Sunday, by the way." Zane said as I went to open the door. His eyes followed my movements and he suddenly reached across the car and yanked my hand towards him.
"What the fuck?" I yelled and attempted to pull my hand back.
"Seren, what is this?" He was staring down at the thick bandage on my wrist covering the cut I had gotten this morning.

"It's nothing." I said as I tried to jerk my arm back, but he didn't release his grip. My mind flashed back to when Jax did the same thing. While Jax had put so much pressure in his fingertips, I was surprised I didn't have bruises, Zane was holding me firmly, but gently, like he knew I could break.
Zane started to pull the bandage back, revealing the still bleeding cut on my inner wrist. He quickly pressed the bandage back on, but kept hold of my wrist. "Did you do that?"
"What? No. I cut myself this morning." Zane narrowed his eyes at me. "Accidentally." I added.
"I don't believe you." He said firmly.
"Okay. Well I don't need you too." I tried to jerk my arm away, but he wouldn't let it go.
"Seren." He said like he was catching me in a lie.
"Why would I do that?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"You tell me!" His voice raised slightly, but when he saw the flinch on my face, he lowered his voice again. "Where's your dad?"
"Inside." I lied.
"So you won't mind if I go in there with you?" Zane called my bluff.
I huffed out a breath. "Fine, he's working."
"When will he be home?" He asked, and his grip lessened on my arm so that I was finally able to pull it back.
"I don't know. Late." I muttered.
"I'm not leaving you here alone." Zane was eyeing my hand that had travelled back to the door handle.
"You're not the boss of me, so it doesn't really matter what you say." I said as I was about to open the door.
"Then I'll call your dad and tell him that not only did you try to jump in the lake while you were drunk before asking me if I thought it would hurt to drown, but now you have a suspicious cut on your wrist." Zane said, and my movement faltered.
"It's not a suspicious cut." I wasn't touching the rest. Both of those things together sounded bad.
"You can come to my house. I'd stay here with you but my friends are coming over." He glanced to the time on the screen on his dash. "They're probably already there."
"So you're kidnapping me?" I asked him, slumping back into my seat. I just wanted to call Austin, smoke, and watch Greys.
"Sure." Zane said as he started the car again. He threw his arm over the back of my seat, looking over his shoulder as he reversed out of my driveway. I wondered why he didn't just look in the rear camera.
"Whatever." I mumbled, accepting defeat.
Instead of turning back onto the main road, Zane continued through my neighbourhood. I guess we both lived here.
"I texted you last night, to check in." Zane said casually, like he hadn't just accused me of being suicidal.
"No, you didn't." No one had texted me. Why did people keep saying they had?
"Yes. I did." Zane confirmed.
"I didn't get any texts." I shrugged. I probably wouldn't have answered him, anyways.
"Hey Siri, text Seren Hi." Zane spoke to his voice command.
We both waited. I flashed him my phone screen, empty of notifications.
"Did you change your number? I grabbed it from the group chat." He asked me, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Nope." Maybe I should, that way Jax wouldn't have it. Or Zane.
"Hey Siri, call Seren." I watched as the screen showed the call was connecting, and the sound of my voicemail rang through the sound system.
"Did you block me?" He asked. I shook my head, I didn't even know how to.
"I don't think so. How do I check?"
"Go to settings, phone, blocked contacts." He answered swiftly. I briefly wondered why he knew that off the top of his head. I did what he said, and was shocked to find that I had blocked Zane. His name was listed right there. Not only his, but also Carter, Tyler, Benji, Cain and just about every other guy that was in my contact list.
The realization that Jax must have blocked them when he had my phone hit me like a brick to the face.
"So?" Zane asked.
"Must have done it accidentally." My voice was almost a whisper.
I was lost in thought as we continued driving. My hope of Jax being hung up over Carter for whatever reasoning was diminishing. So now he had a problem with me talking to any guy at all? I hadn't realized we had pulled up to Zane's house until he cleared his throat, bringing me back into reality.
"I'm not leaving you in the car, either." He said, he must have been waiting for me to get out.
"I'm just going to call my dad." I told him, but when didn't move to get out, I continued. "A little privacy?"
He nodded. "I'll be inside. Just open the door and come in when you're ready." He opened the door swung one of his legs out before hesitating and turning back to look at me. "You're not going to make a run for it, right?"
I shook my head. He'll probably run after me. He gave me a small smile and left the car. I waited until he entered the house before grabbing my backpack from the back seat and digging through it until I found the pill bottle I had stashed there this morning.
I was desperate to ease the anxiety that was crawling through my chest.
The directions instructed me to place one small tablet under my tongue and let it dissolve. So I placed three.

The Demon’s Bride
Elise had about to change into the dress that was lying on the corner of her bed when she heard a knock lightly calling from her door. Curious, she turned the door knob only to have a tall man towering in front of her.«Master Ian!» She called.Ian smiled with the usual mischievous smirk that he always used. His crimson eyes trailing a little over her room and spotted the black dress over her bed and shifted his eyes over to the woman in front of him. He stepped forward and spoke. «Where did you acquire that dress?»«Mr. Harland gave it to me.» Elise replied and strained her neck to see Ian’s brows knitted in its elegance.«Do you know why a man would love to give a woman a dress?» He gave the riddle that she always had to think twice before replying. But this time, she found no answer and instead shook her head. «I don’t know.»His grin grew bewitching as though something had stirred deep inside the scarlet eyes that he had. He slowly slid his hand over the collar of her dress, sending a cold shiver that startled her for a moment due to its freezing temperature. After unbuttoning the first two buttons on her collar, he tilted his head down, whispering to her ears. «Because they want to be the one to undress the cloth.»He paused and kissed her neck, turning the pale skin to red before retracting his move to fix his eyes on her and leisurely replied. «Unfortunately, you can’t wear the dress over there with this.» He chuckled and passed a box over to her hand. «And the fortunate news is I prepared a dress for you.»

A girl in her early 20s stood in front of the camera. She had a healthy bronze tan, an oval face, and a celestial nose. Warm brown eyes, minor makeup made them look cat-like - with the outer corners pointed like a cat’s. Short brown hair, styled in a casual boyish hairstyle. She carefully put on a well-worn but high-quality headset SkyTech - Ghost Seeker Limited Edition. Somewhere on it, there was an inscription, "Stream for us, your fans and friends!", which was beginning to fade in places.
