Xavier's pov:

Flashback-

"So anything you've done that you're very proud of?" I asked her.

"Not yet! But yeah, in the coming future." She answered.

"Meaning?"

"I haven't done anything very commendable yet. But, I'm working on a app. I think that's gonna be the turning point of my career."

"What app?"

"It's called Safety Kit. It's under making. This app will save you from accidents."

"Sounds something interesting. How does it work?"

"Uh... It includes a GPS tracking system. It will be installed in your phones and that will track your GPS. Whenever any other vehicle will be near it, it'll start buzzing. It will give you the right indication and direction to save yourself from the accident."

"That's thrilling. But, what about when in traffic? Will it keep on buzzing continually?"

"No. I've modified the code in such a way by using artificial intelligence that it can detect the difference between traffic and accident prone situations."

"You're really something Maya. You're not noticed right now. But, whenever people will know you, they are going to be really shocked to see this beauty with brain breaking every record." Light shade of pink blush crept over her face.

"But, it will take a lot of time. You know I still need to finalize the code, the graphics, registration for patent is also to be done. Then, I need to do the testing and if it passes the test then I can launch it in the market. But, it isn't going to be that easy. I also need to find an investor who's ready to risk his money into this." She said, sounding concerned.

"I'm always there. I can be your investor."

"I'll choose to wait for another year if needed . But, I won't take any help from you. Don't take it wrong but, I have really worked hard for this. And, now when it's almost done, I don't want even a single stain on my morality that says that I've used you for your power or your money."

"But, Maya no one will say anything to you. I promise."

"Please don't make this difficult for me. I know no one will say anything but, my self respect doens't allow me to do this. This app is something very close to me and I want everything to be my way."

"You're really an inspiration for everyone Maya. But, even if you feel a slightest thing that you need my help, don't hesitate to talk to me. What's mine is yours too." She smiled widely at my words.

Flashback ends.

My mind went to the time when Maya was telling me about Safety Kit. The happiness and satisfaction on her face while she talked about it was something I've never seen. She then kept on talking continuously about that app for about an hour. Seeing that happiness, I didn't even want to interrupt her. A sad smile automatically made its way to my lips.

I jerked up from my place when heard a loud sound of thud. It was the door opening or I should attempt of breaking the door.

"We need to talk."

"Not now." I said turning my face away from him.

"But, I want to talk now. Right now."

"And I don't."

"I don't give a fuck about that Xavier. You have to talk and you will."

"Just go away Lucas. It's my personal matter. So, don't interrupt." I walked forward to push him out of the room and lock the door. But, in a reflex he grabbed my shirt and a sting sound echoed my ears.

"How dare you slap me Lucas?" I asked him shocked.

"You should of all people better know, that I can dare much more than this. So, just shut the fuck up and sit on a place." He said gritting his teeth.

I have known Lucas for a really long time now and one thing I have learnt is to never mess with a infuriated Lucas. No one can control him when his anger reaches at its peak.

I quietly went towards the bed and sat on a place.

"You said it was your personal matter, right?" He asked and I just kept quiet.

"Right?" He yelled and I just nodded in response.

"Get this things straight in your brain that a matter between a couple is personal only till its inside the walls of their bedroom. As soon as it comes out of the room, its no more personal. If you so wanted to keep this personal, you could have just taken her to your room and then talked to her. Trust me when I say, I wouldn't have said a thing about this.

And, you know what was that slap for?

It was the payback for the time when you knocked me down with your continuous punches and slaps when my relationship came to the front.

You couldn't digest that your sister and your best friend were in a relationship and that was the reason why you beat the shit out of me. Now just imagine if you'd have seen me treating Dan, the way you treat Maya."

My fists clenched on their own imaging the words Lucas said.

"You know what Xavier, just calm down a bit. Let's have talk. I think you need to know what happened behind your back in the past month."

I was intently looking at Lucas, waiting for him to continue.

"So to start from the beginning, you remember when you were about to fly to France and your jet couldn't take off. It was nothing wrong with the flight. It was Maya. She called me as soon as you got to know about the truth and she literally begged me to ask your pilot to make some excuse to you so that you couldn't take off. After that she was the one who threatened Parkar to give the key to your Penthouse, so that she could stay with you.

I know how you treated her in the beginning at your Penthouse. Still, she endured all this just to stay with you. After your divorce, she immediately flew to India. With my mine and Chris' help, she managed to talk to Mr. Kapoor and get the land.

And now in all those, the most difficult part for her was to arrange the money. When I offered her for help, she straight away declined saying that you appreciate her for the way she stood up on her feet and made a quiet successful career despite of all the thorns in her way and she didn't want to disrespect your words by taking my help. Not only me but Chris and Liam, they also offered her but she refused.

Then after few days, she told me that she has this app called Safety Kit which can be easily sold and given the copyrights for a good amount. She worked really hard to get the best deal and and she sold her first ever big project. You know that she was very confident and very much emotional regarding this app but, for your happiness she pushed it away from herself.

Not only this, her parents, they were continuously troubling her after they got to know that your divorce. They were continuously asking her to come back and god knows what disgusting things they have said to her when she refused. She wouldn't tell me everything but from her voice I knew that she wasn't well.

I think you know her better than me. She was never this outspoken. She has never ever left the country alone but still for you and your dream, she stayed in an unknown country with unknown people for more than a month and instead of acknowledging all this, you disrespected and insulted her in front of everyone. Not by your words but by your tone. The hurt in her eyes when you shouted at her, was really not good. Everyone else could see but not you.

It was my duty to tell you everything. Now you have to think what you have to do. Otherwise, let me just remind you you still don't have a relation to her but I do. This is not warning but a threat Xavier. You are no one to her right now but, she has her brothers behind her. So, think wisely."

Lucas left leaving me behind with my thoughts that reminded me of how bad of a person I was. She did every possible thing for my happiness and what I did was just hurt her. From the beginning of this relationship, I have been doing the same thing. I hurt her initially and then apologize and then again repeat the same mistake.

Author's pov:

"It's enough now. No more crying and no more suffering. Just leave all this and come. We will leave from here. I don't care if you love him but, I am not letting you stay here to suffer anymore." With that Liam held Maya's hand and dragged her towards the door. Everyone was stunned to see that Maya wasn't even showing any reluctance.

"Wait!" A voice that she wanted to stop her, came.

Not everyone except the ladies were happy to see him. Wasn't it obvious that she was the apple of her brother's eyes?

"Xavier it's enough insult now. If you have anything more disrespectful to say, then please save it. She can't take it anymore." Liam said in protection of his sister.

"Just 5 minutes Liam. I promise then the decision is hers." He looked at Maya.

She tried to gain her confidence back and said, "What is it now?"

Xavier went forward, looked at her and took deep breaths trying to calm his racing heart.

"Maya, I know I am an asshole who keeps on hurting you again and again and I'm really sorry for the way I talked to you today. I promise, I didn't want to do that but, sometimes I lose control over my anger. Not sometimes but, a lot of times."

Everyone accept Maya chuckled at this statement.

"You know that I have always found forgiving myself so impossible and that's what created my emotional scars. Yet, I want others and most importantly you, to forgive me for the mistakes that I did unknowingly. I promise, my intention was never to hurt you. It's just that the protection I feel for you came to the front. I want you to amend and heal me with your kind heart and forgiving nature. I'm so so sorry Maya."

Maya was still quite, looking at him.

"Today, in front of everyone, I want you to make a choice one is to leave right now with your brothers and this will be the end of us." Maya gasped at his words and tears started making their way down.

He caressed her cheek with his thumb and wiped those flowing tears. His eyes also started to water seeing her but before they could fall down, he backed off and stood at a distance.

"There's also a second option to make a choice for you.

I need you to know that I want you to stay with me. You have seen my every side, my all the demons and all the flaws in me. So you are free choose the first option as well. I won't stop you." He got down on one knee making everyone shocked as well as happy.

"Maya I would love you as no other has, in a way you will always crave for me. You just have to know that you will have everything you need, you want and you desire. You are independent and your freedom shall be your first priority and your respect and care for you will be mine.

There may come times when you would feel the need to walk away, if I ever become less romantic or less exciting. But, I'll always want you to remember that sometimes I may lack actions but my feelings for you are eternal. They are never going to change.

I am a man of my words and trust me when I say, I won't ever let the stock of your chocolates finish. You won't ever have to sleep angry or upset because I won't let that happen and there won't be any time when you need me and you won't find me beside you.

When I say 'I want you' , I am saying you are the one I want and that there is no other that could be a possible match for me. You are the match, you are the flame, that's love, that's the blessing and the challenge, for me you are it.

I have never fallen in love before this. But, from what I believe it's standing together and protecting each other, respecting each other and having the other by your side in your bad times is the real meaning of love and for me you mean all this and even more than this if that's possible.

And as you said, it's not going to be easy. Love is not a bed of petals, not fragrance from a blossom tree , not all the sweet moments and best of times. It's all about the willingness to endure and strength to carry on when the storm sets in. And, I want you to be my side whenever I face anything as such.

So , I am giving you the second choice to be my lover for forever, to be my poem which have endless words and meanings, my heart that beats forever.

So, miss Maya Jones will you do the honors of becoming Mrs. Adams again. And, this time out of love, respect and care and most importantly no reluctance or no doubt. Will you marry me?"

Everyone and most importantly Maya was too stunned to reply anything. She expected anything but this proposal.

Maya's pov:

"Will you marry me?"

I was out of my mind, overjoyed to be honest but, if the tiniest part of me is to say the truth, I was a bit in shock, freaked out or terrified or anything that's possible. It was too overwhelming for me and I wasn't able to figure out what to say or how to react.

Those four simple words set of a cascade of complex emotions, many of which are about taking a huge step into life. It would make me take the profound transition from being single to married and not that I wasn't wife before. But, this time it's completely different. It's everything I imagined to be yet, there was the thrill, I never knew would come with it. I still couldn't comprehend my emotions. Happy, excited, strange and love all at the same time. It felt weird but also fantastic.

I came back to my senses when Daisy nudged me through her elbow and said, "He is waiting Maya."

I thought for a while and said, "No."

His face fell as if he just got rejected. Well, he did get rejected.

"Not until you promise me few things." I said and he looked up.

"What?"

"Promise that whatever you said is true." He smilingly nodded his head in yes.

"Promise that you won't ever shout on me unnecessarily. If it's my mistake, I will quietly listen to you and if it's not then...I don't know." He chuckled and nodded.

"I should never ever see the fridge empty. I want it stuffed with all kinds of chocolates and cold drinks." He nodded again.

"And most importantly I have no issues if you drink. You can drink whenever you want, however you want. But, I would never appreciate my husband to be a drunkard. I don't want you to put on a show. I don't want you to be so intoxicated that you have no idea what you are doing and how you're acting. I don't want a scene under the influence of alcohol."

"I promise." He said.

And I was the one who nodded this time and said, "Yes."

"Huh?"

"I said yes idiot. I will marry you."

He smiled widely showing his full blown white teeth and took out to bracelet from his pockets.

"I didn't have a ring at this moment but, I promise to get you one soon. Mimi gave me this bracelet when you left. She said that she had this hope that you will return one day. It's my mother's bracelet that she made one for Dan and one for my wife. Mimi kept it safely and now the time has come, I hand it over to you." He said and made me wear the bracelet. It was indeed very beautiful, perfectly made and designed.

Xavier stood up and looked at me with all the love and happiness he had in him.
