Maya's pov:

After one month-

Right now, I'm sitting with Lucas in Liam's cabin, waiting for him to come with my reports. Today, I got my plasters removed from my hand and leg. It felt really nice to be free from the cases.

Liam came with some papers in his hands, which I assume to be my reports.

"Your reports are here, Maya." He said.

Both me and Lucas sat straight on the chair, curious to know my progress.

"I've got the X-rays of your leg and hand. They are so far, perfectly fine. But, you need to make sure that you don't put pressure on your leg . You need to remember that , your leg had no movement from the past 40 days. It would need time of approximately 2-3 days for it, to function normally like before."

I nodded.

"And what about her hand Liam?" Lucas asked.

"That's perfectly fine Lucas. She will face a slight difficulty in moving it for few hours from now. But, that's not due to some problem. It'll be because of her lack of movement of her hand from the past days. It must have happen to lose the habit of moving. But, that'll be perfectly fine within next few hours.

And as far as her clot surgery is concerned, that was perfectly fine. So, you wouldn't have to face any glitch regarding that." Liam explained us.

"Thank you so much Liam. If it wasn't you, then I would have never been so fine. You really did a lot in this past month. Although, you had your schedule really busy, you still made time to look after me. Thanks for that and for everything."

Liam smiled at me and said, "First of all, it's my duty as a doctor. And next thing, you're my sister. As a brother, I would do this or even more. "

"Actually, sometimes I feel that we need to thank you Maya. Because of you, we got to know it feels to have a sister. Right, Liam?" Lucas said.

"Very right Lucas. Maya, you've brought a different sparkle into our lives. You've added on the family in the most amazing way. Because of you, I even got close to these guys. What couldn't happen in college, happened after your arrival. You brought me close enough to this family that I can call them my family now." Liam poured out.

I was really touched by Liam and Lucas' words.

"You're right Liam. She is really a gem.

I think, we should get going now. Dan and Daisy are waiting for you at home. Liam , you were coming with us, right?" Lucas said.

"Yeah. I'm coming. Just give me some minutes to hand over the work to some other doctor."

We were waiting for Liam in the parking lot of the hospital. Suddenly, Lucas looked at me.

"Don't you miss Xavier? Honestly, I know you do. But, I want to hear it from you."

"How many times will you ask me the same question Lucas?"

I was now irritated with this question. Everyone asks me the same thing every now and then.

"Till the time you don't answer it." Lucas said looking straight into my eyes as if he won't let go off this matter now.

" I don't want to talk about this Lucas. I'm tired."

"That phase when you used to use your health as an excuse to run away from this question is passed."

"Whatever!" I said and looked away.

"It's fine then. I thought of doing this for a while now . But, looking at your health, I didn't want to give you any stress. Now that you're completely fine, I guess, you can survive on your own. You don't need a brother now."

I was shocked listening to Lucas'words and turned around to see him walking towards the car.

I somehow managed to reach him and hugged him from the back.

"Where are you going? Are you leaving me? You can't do that Lucas. You know that I got attached to you guys a lot in the last month. I won't be able to handle the distance."

"But, what's the use of staying by each other when you don't consider me your family?"

I turned him around and looked straight in his eyes that showed hurt.

"It's not true. You mean more than anything to me. I don't have a real brother. But, I'm sure that even if I had one, I would still have loved you and Liam more than him.

Where did I go wrong Lucas? What made you accuse me with such a hurtful thing?" I asked him.

My eyes prickled with tears by now.

"I'll tell you that." Liam came forward. I didn't realise that he was there this all time.

"You know that we care for you a lot Maya. You mean the world to us.

In this last month, not only you, but everyone of us tried our best to get you out of this depression. And, we successfully managed to make you much better than you ever were.

To keep you like this and more good and stronger than before, we need you to open up. You can't keep things within you. If you were completely fine, then we would have left the matter thinking it as your personal life and we shouldn't interfere in that.

But, you still haven't recovered from the mental issues completely. That's the reason we're trying to make you open up your emotions more.

Even though you keep denying to talk about Xavier but, we know that you want to talk about it. We both have seen you aching for his presence and missing him.

You've had a lot of nightmares in the initial days. You kept on saying Xavier's name. You kept on calling him arrogant and what not because he left without informing you. I myself have seen this a lot whenever I used to stay with you.

So, we know everything. We just want you to open up." Liam told me.

I was shocked listening that I used to call out Xavier during my nightmares. Liam told me that I get nightmares. But, they weren't so bad that I would wake up from the sleep. But, I never knew that I used to ask for Xavier in those nights.

"Why didn't you guys tell me about this before?" I asked them both.

"We were waiting for you to confess. But, you were too stubborn." Lucas said.

"Now, will you talk ?" Liam asked.

I couldn't hide anything more from these guys.

"Yes. I miss Mr. Adams. I miss him a lot. Especially after the accident, when I thought that things might change amongst us, he left without talking, informing or even seeing me. That hurted me a lot.

I thought that with time, I would get used to his absence. But, the reverse happened. I am missing him more than before. Even though, we both spent very less time with each other, good time of course, but I got attached to him, his care, his voice, his presence, his everything.

I want to talk to him. If that's not possible, I at least want to see him once." I told my brothers everything inside me. I broke down and started to cry after this confession.

They both immediately hugged me and started apologizing for forcing me to say all this and making me cry.

After sometime, when I felt that I'm okay, I left the hug.

"Don't say sorry. Actually, I'm feeling much better after letting out my feelings. Thanks for helping me pouring out my emotions."

Lucas' phone rang.

"It's Dan." He said looking at us.

" Hey honey!" He answered the call.

"Yeah. Everything's fine. We are coming back.....In twenty minutes.....Yup.... Okay. Bye. Love you." With that, he cut the call.

"Dan and everyone else is waiting for us at the mansion. We need to go." Lucas said.

"Wait a minute." I said.

"What happened Maya?" Liam asked.

"You both need to promise me that you won't say anything about this to Mr. Adams regarding our conversation. If you don't, then I'm not coming home."

I stood straight folding my hands and leaning on the car.

They both looked at each other and gave 'What to do now?' looks.

"I know that somewhere Mr. Adams also has something to do with this nonstop questioning. So, promise me now that you will keep your mouth shut or I'm not moving from here."

"She's way too smart for us." Liam said looking at Lucas.

Lucas sighed in defeat and said, "Fine. We won't tell him anything."

I raised my invisible collar and laughed at them.

"Stop laughing now. Let's go home. Otherwise, Dan and Daisy would come here worrying about you." Liam said making those annoying faces.

Feeling proud of myself, I sat in the car laughing. I shut up and stuffed my laugh when they both looked at me angrily.

We reached mansion after sometime. We went inside only to see that the living room is decorated like there's some party organised here.

Dan, Daisy and Anna came from the kitchen with a cake in Dan's hand.

"I appreciate what you guys did. But, I told you that I don't want any sort of extra vagant celebration. Everytime I return from the hospital, you do some or the other thing."

"Don't be a spoilsport Maya. You're back on your feet and emerged as all fit and fine. That's a thing to celebrate." Daisy said.

"They are right Maya. God brought back my child on her feet after more than a month. We should celebrate this." Anna said.

I smiled and nodded at Anna.

In the last month, I became very close to everyone.

But, I formed a very beautiful bond with Anna. She gave me all the love that I never got from my mother.

From telling me bedtime stories to making every dish I craved for, she did it all. She even insisted me to call her 'Mimi' . But, I politely refused saying that it's Dan and Mr. Adams' right. I didn't want to snatch that. And, my feelings for someone don't depend on what I call them. She told me that Lucas said the exact same thing , when she asked him to call her Mimi. My respect for Lucas increased more that day.

"Where are you lost Maya?" Dan interrupted my chain of thoughts.

"Nowhere. Let's cut the cake." Everyone went towards the centre table.

We cut the cake, ate the delicious snacks made by the other ladies and chatted for a while.

Everyone was stuffed with snacks. So, we decided to skip lunch.

After convincing everyone that I'm very much fine and they don't need to compromise and adjust their schedule for me anymore, they left. But, only after taking tons of promises from me and Anna that we'll call them as soon as possible if something comes up.

The whole day passed with attending everyone's calls frequently and some chit chatting with Anna.

I decided to sleep, calling it a night.

Before I could sleep, my phone rang again. I switched on the lights.

"What is it Liam?" I asked him irritated. Honestly, I was really irritated by attending calls every 15 minutes from the afternoon.

"Why do you talk like this?" Liam asked in a low voice.

"Sorry Liam. I didn't mean to shout at you. I'm just a lot irritated by telling everyone that I'm fine in every 15 minutes."

"I understand that Maya. But, everyone cares a lot for you. We aren't getting sleep by thinking how you would be managing all by yourself?"

"I know Liam. Thanks for the concern. But, I'm fine now. You all can rest . And, I promise that I'll call you the first as soon as I feel like I need you. Is that convincing enough?"

"Yeah. That's enough. Good night Maya."

"Good Liam. Sleep and let sleep now." I said laughing.

"Yeah. Bye."

With that I finally decided to put my phone on silent mode and sleep.

Liam explained me in the afternoon that in the past few days my body has become habitual to medications. Since, I don't have them anymore, I'll face difficulty in sleeping for next few nights. Even Daisy reduced the dose of medications that she gives me. It's good but, I'm not getting sleep now.

I started the music and put the airpods in my ears.

I was listening to music when I felt a movement near me. Ignoring it, I again shifted my attention towards the music.

Suddenly, I felt something over my hand. Thinking it may be a insect or something, I was starting to freak out.

Due to the lights being off, I couldn't see anything.

Suddenly, I realised that it isn't a insect. It's a hand and now it's trying to hold my hand.

I let out a loud scream. Before I could wake up the entire mansion, that hand covered my mouth preventing me from screaming. I started throwing my hands and legs in air.

Suddenly, the lights were on and I was shocked to see the person in the room.

As soon as I saw him, I stopped my movements and looked at him, very very shocked.

"Is screaming and throwing hands and legs in air your hobby?"

Mr. Adams asked and I was still quite not knowing what to react.

"Hello! Maya! Are you alright?" That's when I came to my senses.

"Yeah. I'm fine. How can you be here? "

Xavier's pov:

She was extremely confused to see me here.

"What do you mean by what am I doing here? Last time I checked, this house is still registered on my name."

She was still looking so confused.

"I think this is my dream again." She said and took the comforter over her head and slept again.

Honestly, I wanted to laugh at her. But, hearing that she dreamt about me made me feel so proud.

I lovingly ran a hand over her head. She peeked out of the comforter, only her eyes and head on vision.

"Maya, this isn't your dream. I'm really back. I'm here, not in France."

She looked at me for a moment and then pinched her own flesh over her wrist.

"Ouch!"

I laughed at her and slowly rubbed that area over her wrist.

"You're really here!" She exclaimed with joy, I guess.

"Yes, I'm here." I smiled at her.

She got up and sat on the bed. She opened her mouth to say something but, I guess words got stuck inside.

I didn't realise that I was sitting on my knees on the floor till now. I got up and made space for myself beside her, on the bed.

I didn't realise what came upon me when I suddenly hugged her.

That feeling of having her close to me, made a different peace with my soul. I didn't want to leave her. But, sensing no movement of hers, I realised that she's either shocked or uncomfortable.

Even though I didn't want to, I released the hug.

I looked at her to see that she was stilled.

"I'm so sorry if I made you uncomfortable. It's just that I missed you so much that I couldn't control myself." I said looking down.

"You...you....missed me?" She asked stuttering.

"Uhh... Actually, yeah. I missed you."

"Ohh! I thought that the way left without informing, you would have forgotten my name too." She said.

Wait! Did she just taunt me?

"You got to be kidding me Maya. I can never forget you. I really missed you a lot. I wanted to come as early as I could but, I couldn't. Not till, I made sure that everything's alright."

"I thought that you didn't miss me."

"Except you, everyone else knows how much I missed you. I used to call everyone, every 30 mins to make sure that you're fine. Sometimes, Daisy and Lucas would get so mad by my constant calls, that if you were fine that time, they would have come to France and I would have been dead by now."

"Hey! Don't talk about death. That's not a thing to joke about." She interrupted.

"Uh. Okay."

"Instead of troubling everyone, you could have called me." She said in a low voice.

"You won't trust me, but I really wanted to call you. I wanted to hear your voice, see you on video call. But, if I would have done that , then I would've lost my control and came straight upto you, leaving everything behind.

And, I am sorry that I went without seeing or informing you. But, if I met you that day, then I'm sure that I wouldn't be able to leave.

I'm sorry Maya."

"It's okay. Honestly, I was very upset and angry about this thing earlier. But, I don't know why after seeing that you're back, my anger vanished." She said smiling.

"That's my charm." I said raising my collar.

She laughed and said, "Talking big about yourself isn't a good impression infront of someone."

"The person I am talking to is not someone. She is my wife.

And my dear wife, I am not talking big about myself. That's the fact. Whole world is flat over my charms." I said, leaning towards her face.

“If you want to be outstanding, you have to get away from the crowd. Utibe Samuel Mbom says that. And, I don't stand in crowd." She replied.

"Oh! I am impressed by your thoughts. But, you don't have to stand in crowd to see my charm. I am available 24/7 for you."

She laughed at my reply and said, "You are too good with words and great with negotiations, I guess."

"I'll take that as a compliment." I smiled at her.

We both kept quiet for moment, having nothing to say. Suddenly, she yawned.

"Oh sorry. I didn't realise the time. You must be sleepy. I shall get going. Have a good night Maya."

"Okay. Good night. Wait, I'll walk with you till the door. I am thirsty. I want to drink water." She said picking up the bottle from the side table.

"Oh no no. Don't bother. You take rest. I'll get water for you."

"It's okay Mr. Adams. I'm perfectly fine now. I can walk now." She said smiling.

"Yeah. I forgot that you're fine now."

She stood up from the bed and we walked till the stairs. We stopped and looked at each other.

"Good night Maya." I said.

"Good night Mr. Adams."

I was getting irritated by the Mr. Adams thing. I want to hear my name from her mouth. I'll talk about it tomorrow.

She turned and was moving towards the stairs, when I held her wrist and stopped her.

"I'm sorry if I am crossing my boundaries now. But, I can't stop myself from saying this. I really missed you a lot Maya. Can I hug you once? I want to make my heart believe that you are with me, all fine and healthy.

But only if that's fine with you. No pressure."

I said this, all looking down not having the courage to look into her eyes.
