Xavier's pov:

I ran towards Maya's room as soon as I heard some noises. As I reached there, it seemed like both the girls were having an argument. Maya looked extremely angry. I asked them if everything is alright.

"Talk to me you demon. Nothing is alright. First you took away my home, my freedom and now best friend too. You know what , you should have taken away my life instead. That would have saved so much time of yours and would have been easier for me too." Maya bursted upon me.

I was shocked looking at this state of her. It was the first time I heard her voice this loud.

"Just fucking shut up Maya. Don't drag him in between this. We agree that you've been through hell. But, there are people who also suffered along with you." Daisy shouted at Maya.

"Oh yeah. There are people who care for me. I'm not denying that. You know what you've completely lost it. You're mad who trusted this demon. You never know when will this fucking piece of shit swallow you. He isn't safe Daisy."

I wasn't shocked with Maya's words. I knew somewhere that this would come. But, it's tearing me into pieces.

"You know what Maya, you aren't the same girl who used to see good in others. You're blinded with your ego and hatred. You aren't able to see the good in him. And, that's your loss." Daisy defended me.

"This man just destroyed my Life. I'm nothing but an unlucky bitch right now. You know what, I think my parents who sold me are way much better than you. At least they didn't snatch my only friend from me. You are a beast Mr. Adams. A beast." Maya said looking straight into my eyes. My eyes started to water. Not being able to take anymore insult, I started to walk towards the door. Someone held my wrist.

It was Daisy. I had tears in my eyes.

I looked at Daisy. I nodded my head in No with those teary eyes pleading her to let me go.

"No Xavier. This girl here has to learn how to behave. Let's finish this matter today. Let's correct her opinion for you."

"I can't Daisy. I can't." I wisphered enough for her to hear.

"It's your sister pleading you. You won't have to do anything. Just sit here. I'll handle this." She said.

"No Daisy. Let her rest. Stop this matter here. " I kind of ordered her .

But, she is the Boss of her own. She didn't listen.

"You know what, you can go to fucking hell. But, I'll do what I want to. If you want to stay , you can. Otherwise, fuck off." She shouted and went to the couch.

She took out her phone and called someone.

"Be here in 10. It's an emergency."

She again called someone.

"Be here in 10. It's an emergency. And, I'm sending you a text. Look into it immediately. " She said.

"Who did you call?" Me and Maya asked at the same time. We looked at each other.

The hatred I see in eyes , everytime she looks at me, is something I never want to see. I get vulnerable knowing that my wife hates me to the core. But, I am responsible for that. So, I can't blame her.

Right now, the ticking time bomb sitting on the couch decided to ignore us. She put the airpods in her ears and closed her eyes.

It had been 15 mins , I am stealing glances at the fuming Maya. Because I have nothing to do than that. Daisy is ignoring my every question. I heard some footsteps coming towards the room.

It was Liam. He looked like he was stressed regarding something.

"What happened? Is Maya alright?" He asked me. Before I could answer, he ran towards Maya.

"Are you alright? What happened?" He asked her in a panicked tone.

"I'm perfectly alright Liam. No need to worry. I'm fine." Maya told him.

"Then, why did Daisy called me saying it's an emergency.?" Liam asked , completely unaware of the argument between the two best friends.

"You can ask that to Daisy because we aren't audible to her." I told him.

He went towards Daisy and asked her the matter. She told him to wait for another two minutes. Everyone in the room was confused regarding the whole thing.

After sometime, Lucas came along with Chris. I was shocked seeing him in the mansion.

"What's this Daisy? Why did you call my secretary here?" I asked her irritated seeing him here. I always try to keep my professional and personal life seperate. I always try to not call any of the professional at my mansion unless it's an emergency.

"Just fucking shut up Xavier." She shouted in the same tone that she used in me in the hospital when she attacked us.

"What's the status of the company Mr. Secretary? " She asked looking at Chris.

"It's good." He replied.

"What's the financial status of the company and what's the company's stand in the stock market right now?" She asked him.

I wasn't understanding from where the condition of my company came in between of their argument.

"Are we all here to discuss the running of this person's company right now?" Maya interrupted.

"No we aren't here to discuss the running of company. We are here to get you on a correct path." She said to Maya stressing especially in my name.

"You didn't answer my question Mr. Secretary." She said looking towards Chris.

"Mam, I can't disclose company's details to anyone." Chris replied.

"It's okay Chris. You can tell that to her. She is family." Lucas told him. I have given strict orders to everyone that the power of attorney and the decision making right is given only to Lucas apart from me. So, he has to listen to Lucas.

"It's not stable. We've lost 7 deals in these past 8 days. 4 deals were the major ones that caused the company a loss in terms of billions. We were on the top position in the market. But right now, we are on 4 th. The company would have been on stake if it was not for Mr. Cameron who managed to handle the mess of the company along with his work. The shares would have doomed by a huge percentage if Mr. Cameron didn't stand up in place of Mr. Adams at the right moment and handled the meetings and the deals." Chris told the truth.

"What's the point of discussing my company and my failures here?" I asked getting frustrated.

"Don't interrupt Xavier." It was Lucas who shut me up his look this time. What's with everyone and their 'Shut The Fuck Up' look today?

"Thank you so much Chris for coming at such a short notice. Your work is done here. You can go home now. My chauffeur will drop you back. And, sorry for disturbing your night." Lucas said.

"It's okay Mr. Cameron. " Chris replied with a smile and went.

"Will you tell us Lucas why is the condition of his company this worse?" Daisy asked.

"Because this dumb ass refused to attend any of the meetings neither by personally meeting the clients nor by any video conferences. He stopped attending his employees' calls. He refused to give any attention to his work."

"And why is that Xavier?" Daisy asked me.

I don't know what to answer. Not that I didn't have any answer. But, I don't know what to say.

"Because you were very busy taking care of your wife. Am I right?" Daisy said.

Maya's pov:

Mr. Adams was looking down at the floor at everything Daisy said.

"I know him. He won't say anything." Lucas said.

He came towards me and sat next to me on the bed.

"Don't think like he is my best friend so I'm talking big about him and supporting him . I'm telling you all this because you deserve to know that your husband isn't a demon. He is a man with emotions who is extremely guilty of his deeds.

When Daisy called me, I was tensed thinking if something's wrong with you. But when she texted me the situation, I made up my mind at my home. I was sure that I am going to make everything right between my sister and her husband. I will not go there to fight for my best friend. Trust me, I'm not taking his side. I'm just putting forth the truth.

The mistake is his. That's the truth. I got to know the whole thing that happened. Trust me, I was ready to bring him in the same condition as you were. But, his condition was no less bad than yours at that time.

He was broken. He was miserable." Lucas was speaking when Mr. Adams interrupted.

"Just shut the fuck up Lucas. " Mr. Adams shouted.

"Let him speak the truth Xavier. Don't interrupt." Daisy said.

"What's the point of speaking all this nonsense now. Let Maya rest. Even she doesn't want to listen. Let's go from here." He said looking at me.

"You are no one to take decisions for me. I'm fine. Go ahead Lucas." I don't know what came onto me when I asked Lucas to continue. I wanted to know what happened behind me.

Mr. Adams was shocked when I asked Lucas to tell me rest of the thing. I guess, he didn't expect me to listen.

"You know, we are best of buddies from childhood. We have been inseparable since then. I know him to the core. When I saw him at the hospital, he wasn't my friend. He was that broken husband who was continuously drowning deeper in the ocean of his guilt.

Last time, I saw him crying was when his parents died years ago. In these years, I haven't seen a single drop of tear in his eye. But , the way he cried in the hospital for you made me realise that he really really cares for you a lot.

His company is his love Maya. Knowing that his ignorance for his business can lead billions of dollars in loss, he was still there with you , by your side. His investors kept on calling him continuously. When, he didn't get in touch with them, they contacted me through Chris.

I kind of managed to keep them at a place till now. Whenever I would ask him to look into the same, he would reply saying only one thing that 'My wife is more important than my business.' "

"Can we just stop this here?" Mr. Adams interrupted again.

I looked at him irritated by his interruption. My look was enough to shut him up.

"Well, it's good to see that Maya has that effect on Xavier that he can shut up with just a look from her." Liam joked around.

Everyone in the room except me and Mr. Adams chuckled. He looked nervous fidgeting with his fingers. He was continuously looking down.

Liam came to me and said, "Even, I know him from high school Maya. He isn't that bad. I'm sure the circumstances made him react that way.

I've seen him in these few days.

You won't probably believe but he was awake for straight 48 hours till you didn't gain consciousness. He hadn't had a single bite of food for straight two days. In these eight days, I have seen him eating only one sandwich."

"Two. He had two sandwiches." Daisy said looking at Mr. Adams.

"Just imagine what he would have been through Maya. He skipped his sleep, his meals and his everything just because he made you go through all this. He was constantly praying for you.

He is the Xavier Adams. He is so powerful that he can finish a person within a snap of a finger. When I attacked him, he took it as his punishment. He even consoled me when I broke down.

He was there with me like my elder brother. He was there to support me whenever I fell weak. Trust me , he is really sorry for whatever he did." Daisy said.

"You know Maya, I've seen people who would leave the patient on hospital's responsibility and only come to complete the discharge formalities. But, he stayed there with you every single minute.

He took bath everyday in the hospital's common bathroom till I found that out and insisted him to use the washroom in my cabin. He changed his clothes there in the hospital itself only because he didn't want anything to happen to you in his absence." Liam said.

"I think we have told enough truth to Maya. Let's give them both their time. We should all head out to our places." Lucas said.

Everyone nodded and decided to leave to their respective houses.

"One more thing. I will always respect every decision of you both. But, this time it'll be my decision. Be ready tomorrow Maya. I'll come to pick you up. You'll be staying with me and Dan from tomorrow. Looking at the situation here, I think it's best for you.

And, no one will oppose my decision. It's a brother's care and right towards his sister. " With that Lucas stormed out of the room with everyone.
