Xavier's pov:

"Don't tell me you were awake the whole night? " Lucas questioned.

I kept quiet knowing that he catches my lie very quickly.

He came to me and said, "You very well know that Maya won't get up like this . You are staying awake the whole night. Is it helping her in anyway? You need to be healthy yourself to take care of her." He said.

"I know man. But, I couldn't close my eyes hoping that she would open hers soon. I was afraid the whole night thinking what would happen if I slept and she woke up and she would need something." I said looking at Maya with hope in my eyes.

I looked at Lucas again and said, "Just tell me one thing . You went after midnight from here and you're back this early. Even you wouldn't have slept. Why are you here this early? You should have taken rest a bit ."

I asked him .

"Actually Dan is gonna come at around 9. I need to pick her up from the airport. So, I thought of bringing you breakfast and your clothes . I also wanted to have a check on Maya once, before I go to the airport.

Because, Dan has no idea about what happened here in these two days and explaining her everything would take time." He said.

After that , he sat near Maya and asked me to go and shower.

I went in hospital washroom itself , had a quick shower and came back to Maya's room.

There was Lucas with his hand over her forehead, stroking it slightly. I really felt very proud of my best friend.

After chatting for around 15-20 minutes, he left for the airport with his driver.

I was continuously talking to Maya, hoping that she would listen and wake up.

It was around 10 in the morning when Daisy came.

"Good morning Mr. Adams."

"Good morning to you too Daisy . And please, cut the formalities. You can call me Xavier. " I told her. It felt like a official meeting whenever she addressed me Mr. Adams.

We chatted for around 15-20 minutes , when she received a call from hospital regarding an emergency.

She went to her hospital , promising that she will return as soon as possible.

Even Liam came to check Maya twice from the morning.

Mimi has been calling continuously and asking for Maya's updates. Even, she has been traumatized from the incident.

It was around 2 in the afternoon when my eyes started to get heavy.

I asked a nurse to get a coffee delivered to me , so that I can be awake. I drank coffee and went back to my talking with Maya.

The evening passed.

The night passed.

With the same routine , I was continuously talking to Maya but no answer came from her side.

Lucas called me to inform that he told Dan about everything.

But, he somehow convinced her to visit Maya after she gets discharged from the hospital as she wouldn't be able to see Maya in this state.

Even , Daisy was stuck in certain emergency at the hospital. But, she was continuously calling every hour and so was the case with Mimi.

The time kept on passing.

But, it didn't matter to me whether it was morning, night, afternoon or evening.

I was the same person who has been awake from the last 32 hours from when incident happened. The nurses and doctors are continuously trying to convince me to have a nap and they would look after Maya.

But, I can't trust anyone with Maya.

I want to stay with her when she opens her eyes. I want to be the one with my wife when she gets up, not some other nurse or doctor.

It was probably 11:00 in the next morning.

I was still the same person who was talking to Maya from the last 45 hours continuously without getting any response.

I don't know my why but, my eyes watered and a few teardrops fell from my eyes on Maya's hands that I was holding.

When I tried to free my hand from hers to wipe my tears, I felt a strong tug on it.

I tried to take my hand out again, but I saw her fingers holding it tightly.

But, I thought of it as a general reaction of a person's body in response when someone holds their hands continuously.

But, suddenly her index finger moved slightly.

And that was when, I got that she was trying to wake up.

I quickly pressed the buzzer, probably 100 times in only a few seconds.

Around two to three nurses and two doctors came in the room panicked. "What happened? Is there any problem? Is everything alright?" They asked me.

I couldn't control my tears and said, "Look, my Maya is trying to wake up. She just moved her index finger."

I didn't understand what I was doing there.

I was with a smile on my face and with lots of tears in my eyes.

Then, I went beside her and held her hand again. And that's when she opened her eyes.

This was a satisfaction, I never got even from billion dollars deal or any other thing in this whole world. I never got this happy ever.

She opened her eyes and was looking at me intensely. Suddenly, she tried to remove her hand from mine and her eyes started to fill with an emotion of fear .

I didn't understand what was happening .

Suddenly, she started to move towards the other side of the bed, probably trying to get away from me.

I was shocked at this sight.

Then, a nurse came and dragged me far saying , "Sir, the patient is getting scared of you . Sir, please don't mind but stand a bit far away from the patient right now." I was really upset that a nurse is trying to send me away from my wife.

But, looking at the condition right now, I thought it's safe for Maya.

The doctors were checking her. So, I decided to call Daisy and Lucas.

Daisy was super happy listening to the news and she told me that she would reach as soon as she gets done with the patients.

I understand that she is a doctor and professional and personal life is always at stake for the doctors.

When I called Lucas , he said that he was already at the entrance of the hospital and hung up my call.

As soon as he came, I hugged him tight.

He was confused for a moment and then said, "Your happiness on the face screams loudly that Maya has woken up."

" Yes , yes, yes . Man, I can't express how happy I am right now. She woke up. She is out of danger." I was continuously laughing.

But, as soon as I remembered her scared face when she saw me, my happiness vanished .

"What happened Xav? You were quite happy just 2 seconds ago ? " Lucas asked me.

Then, I told him the whole thing that happened in the room when Maya woke up.

" Xavier , you know that she battled death and came out winning over it just now. It would take time for her to get adjusted to everything.

You can't expect her to hug you tightly as soon as she gets up. She's traumatized right now.

Give a bit time to her to get used to all the things. I am sure she will definitely come around. " Lucas explained me.

I nodded understanding his point.

We both went to the room and I made sure to stand at the door itself.

Lucas went towards her. She looked at him for a second and smiled.

I felt happy by seeing her smile . But, I knew that she was in a hell lot of pain inside.

He kept his hand on her head and said , "How are you Princess?"

She tried to speak something but couldn't form words .

Then the nurse interrupted, "The patient has been unconscious all this while. It would take around a day or two for the patient to get the movements of her tongue smooth. "

"No need to stress for this Maya . You would be that same talkative girl within the next two days and won't even get tired of speaking then."

He joked .

But , suddenly she looked towards the door and saw me.

The same emotion of fear was on her face again. I didn't want to stress her out.

So, I quickly went outside closing the door.

I was sitting on the chairs outside the room holding my head in my hands when Daisy came .

"What happened Xavier? Why are you sitting outside like this ? You told me that Maya woke up. You should be happy right now. She is fine , right ?" She asked.

"Yeah she is fine. It's just that I didn't know that I would get punishment of my deeds in such a bad way ? "

"What happened Xavier? What are you talking about ? "

I told her everything about what happened in the room.

She held my hand in hers and said, "Listen Xavier. She has been battling mental stress since years and over this time she has formed a trigger point or I would say she has formed few trigger points inside her . And, you probably happened to disturb the points, all at once .

Therefore , I think she's scared of you at this moment .

I wouldn't say scared but she is going kind of uncomfortable around you.

With time she would get used to you and your presence.

I've seen you passing under guilt and begging for forgiveness to her even when she was unconscious.

Knowing that she wasn't listening, you were still continuously , apologizing to her which proves that you are really sorry for whatever you did.

And in these two days, I've known you enough to say that your anger is what pushes you towards mistakes .

You aren't a bad person. It's just that you come to conclusions by yourself without knowing the other side . And that's what happened .

You are definitely at fault. You made a mistake. But, the situation was worse more than you.

Whatever happened, let that thing go and just focus on making her comfortable around you . You definitely can't force for anything and being her doctor , even I can't permit you for that. But as far as I know, she is a strong girl . She'll come around with time.

Hold on your hopes for some more time just like you did from the last two days." She explained me very properly with a smile on her face.

"I get that Daisy. I think you are right. I can't force her for accepting me.

That will be her decision completely.

But, it's really getting uncontrollable for me after knowing that she has woken up, she is going to be fine in the next few days and still I can't go closer to her . I can't hold her hand and I can't even talk to her." I told her expressing the pain I had inside me .

"Well, I have a solution for this." She said.

"What?" I asked her.

"Just wait for a minute."

She quickly went towards Liam's cabin. I don't know what they both talked but , she came out after a minute or so .

She then, went towards another door and brought a bag in her hand and took me to an empty room.

She handed me that bag and said, "Wear this. I'm standing outside the room just in case anyone enters . And don't worry. I have talked to Liam about this thing. Now come on, go fast and change into this . I am waiting outside . I'll explain everything later . " With that she went outside the room and stood near the door.

I opened the bag to find out that it had a white coat, surgical mask and head cover in it. It also had a stethoscope, writing pad paper and pen.

I was confused looking at it but, I quickly worn the clothes and took everything with me .

I opened the door. She looked at me and said, "My God Xavier, you look like a doctor completely. "

She quickly fixed the stethoscope in my neck and handed me the writing pad, paper and pen properly .

"Here . Look at this. You want to meet Maya . You want to be near her and you want to take care of her. So, I had no better option than this . When you are near her, just be in this uniform and after this you can be inside the room.

I even talked to Liam about everything. He said that was ok as long as it doesn't harm any other patient. So, you have to take care of that.

If you by any chance happen to get caught or something else happens, if you're able to handle the situation and come out of the situation, just run from that place as far as you can. Because we can't tell someone else about a fake doctor inside hospital who knows nothing about medicine or else it would create a situation of panic in the hospital." Daisy explained me.

I couldn't control my emotions and I hugged her tightly .

"Thank you so much for this Daisy. You know , you really proved that you are an amazing person by heart.

Tell me one thing. I thought doctors are boring. And even Liam is super boring. How did you come up with such cool solutions." I teased her.

She looked at me angrily and said, "If you are going to tease me or make fun of me, then kindly remove the stethoscope and go back and wear your old clothes."

"Oh no no Madam! I am fine with this." I said and we both laughed.

Later, she took with her inside the room introducing me to Maya as her 24/7 doctor who would be with her with all the time.

She talked with Daisy for sometime and later we were alone in the room.

I went close to my her and held her hand , acting as if I was checking her pulse.

I couldn't explain how happy I was, to be near her once more.

Another day passed with the same thing. It was afternoon when doctor came inside.I haven't seen him here before.

He came inside to check Maya and asked me to measure her blood pressure. I was dumbstruck at this moment. I stood at my place uprooted and couldn't say anything.

He again ordered me to do that. I tried to leave the place but I guess he was frustrated by me and came near me and now he was sort of shouting at me.

"What kind of a doctor you are? Don't you know how to check blood pressure of a patient?" He asked me and in a moment of anger, pulled down my mask.

He looked at me and said, "Who are you. I haven't seen you here before."

I didn't care about him. I just looked at Maya who was shocked at this moment.

The doctor was continuously shaking me by my shoulders. I didn't bother to reply him as I was busy looking at Maya.
