Xavier's pov:

The door of Liam's cabin opening so violently, made our attention shift towards it.

It was Maya's friend, Daisy. She entered the cabin with her red blood shot eyes , looking as if she is ready to kill someone.

Before I could understand anything, she hit me strongly with the paper weight kept on Liam's table.

"What the f..." Before I could complete my sentence, she slapped me hard enough to lose my balance and I stumbled. Lucas held me before I could fall.

"Who the fuck you think you are Mr. BASTARD? Anna called me and told about Maya. I know for sure that you are responsible for this condition of hers . Aren't you? You know what, a devil like you has no rights to live . I'll just kill you myself. So that, you won't harm my Maya anymore."

She shouted at the top of her voice.

She picked up the chair beside her and threw it towards me. I covered my head with my hands waiting for it to hit me. But, I didn't feel any pain.

I opened my eyes when I heard the chair hit something.

I found Lucas clutching his hand tightly and groaning in pain.

"Oh God ! Lucas. Man you shouldn't have done that. Fuck!" I said trying to hold him.

"Ya. He is right . You shouldn't have done it. This man here deserved the pain. No worries, what if the chair didn't hit you. I will make sure that I hit you properly and you feel the pain double to what my Maya is facing right now." She said.

Before she could charge herself towards me again, Liam picked her up by her waist . She started throwing her hands and legs in air. It was getting difficult for Liam to control her.

I and Lucas both got up from the floor. I made Liam sit on the chair and went towards Liam to help him control the volcano that was erupting right now.

"Daisy, try to understand the situation right now. Your trying to harm us and creating a mess here won't help Maya recover. She needs her friend with her at this moment. You should please, control yourself. Just think for once, will Maya appreciate this behaviour of yours? Will she feel proud of her friend's deeds? Will she be happy after knowing that her best friend whom she loves more than her life, is trying to take away someone else's life? If not for anyone, at least for Maya's sake calm down. Please. I promise to sort this entire thing out. Just calm down. We need to focus on Maya right now. We can't waste our time trying to take each other's life."

When it seemed that she calmed down a bit, Liam put her down. But, he didn't leave his hold over her.

"For Fuck's sake, I'm calm. You can leave me." She shouted at Liam.

"Miss Destruction, I love my cabin a lot. I don't want it turn into a completely destructed mess." Liam said.

"I am calm. If you don't leave me right now, I don't know about your cabin, but you'll surely be a Completely Destructed Mess." She threatened Liam.

He left her the very instant.

She seemed calm right now.

"I know that you still want to kill me. But, trust me I'm really sorry for everything. I know, I can't change the past. But, I promise that I'll take really good care of Maya hereafter. I'm also sorry for whatever I said you in the morning." I apologized to her.

"Oh , fuck your Sorry. I don't care." She said and started walking towards Liam's desk. She went and started searching for something in his drawers.

"Oh Hello Miss. You can't go through my things. " He was going to say more to her , but her one look made him shut and us afraid.

She took out a box from his drawer and came towards me. It was a first aid kit.

She came and stood infront of me. I feel ashamed to say this , but , I was damn sacred of this lady infront of me.

She took out a solution from the box and dipped cotton in it.

"Along with Maya's best friend, I'm also a doctor. So, lemme just bandaid your wound. "

"Are you for real? At one moment, you're ready to kill me. The other moment, you're taking care of my wound." I asked her shocked by her action.

That's when I realised that I was actually bleeding. I tried to touch my wound , but she forcefully slapped my hand away.

"As like your heart, your hands are also dirty. It can cause infection."

Three of us were shocked. This lady is bipolar for sure.

She pushed my shoulders down , so that I can match her height.

A light chuckle escaped Liam's mouth.

"You sure that you want to live ahead and not die right now?" She said dangerously eyeing him.

She turned towards me again and dragged me towards the couch. She examined my wound and said to Liam, "Call someone with a mild anesthesthetic dose, needle and a thread. This wound has gotten a bit deep. It would need stitches. "

Without listening to her directly, Liam came and had a look at my wound. Once he was sure that , I would need stitches he called a person with the things.

"I am also a doctor for some reason. You could have trusted me. " She taunted Liam.

"I would definitely have trusted you, if you weren't the one who gave him the same wound." He said.

Having no answer,she kept quite.

Someone, who I assume is the hospital staff, entered with metal tray having injections,needles and scissors.

I am the most dangerous person one would know. But, I'm hell sacred of those needles. I looked at Lucas and he gave me a I cannot help you look.

" Can't you just put a bandaid over. There's no need of these stitches." I pleaded her .

She looked at me for a second and said, "I didn't study years of medicine just for idiot like you, to teach me what to do and what not to. I very well know my work. And, if you dared to disturb me again, I'll make sure to stitch your wound later and work on stitching your mouth first." She said dangerously giving the sign that she was still very angry.

I understood that I can't do anything about it right now. Lucas came to me and sat beside. I held his hand tightly and closed my eyes. Lucas had always been there with me whenever I needed injections. He knows that I can tolerate anything but not needles.

"Imagine your amazing time with Maya, imagine her smiling face." He wisphered near my ears.

As soon as I closed my eyes, all the beautiful memories came forward. The way she politely talked to Mimi, the way she convinced Dan to forgive me, the way she smiles at every servant of the mansion, the way we both talked in the library, everything just started to picturise infront of my eyes. Soon, I started to remember the pain I gave her. Before I could go onto more bad memories, Liam's voice came.

"It's done Xav."

I opened my eyes and looked in the camera of my phone. She put a diagonal bandaid on my head . It damaged my handsome face.

"It'll take approximately two weeks to get the wound healed. Make sure it doesn't get wet. It'll leave a scar . It should fade out within a month or two.

From now on, whenever you'll look at the mirror, you'll remember that Maya isn't alone. She has a friend who can kill someone who dares to harm her friend."

Saying that, she got up and went towards Lucas.

"I haven't done anything to Maya." He said with fear evident in his eyes.

"I know that. I'll just check you and do my duty of being a doctor."

She went towards him and asked about his pain. He told her that it pains near the elbow.

"Remove your shirt. " She said.

Lucas was shocked by the statement and said, " I'm married. And that too happily married."

She came back and picked up the scissors from the tray.

"As far as I know, it's a Armani shirt and it would cost a lot. I wouldn't mind cutting it. But I'm sure , you would."

Lucas quickly removed his shirt. Liam was going to chuckle again , but he quickly kept a hand over his mouth.

She made him move his hand in different manners.

She turned towards Liam and said, "Looking at the swelling of his hand and the difficulty in moving it, I think it's a fracture. But, get his x-ray done and consult a good orthopaedic."

Liam nodded at this . He called someone. After about a minute, someone entered the room.

" Take him to Dr. Tenner. I've messaged him everything."

"I can't leave Xavier alone right now." Lucas said looking at me.

"Don't worry about me man . I'll be fine and even Liam is there with me. You go and get your treatment done. Also, it won't take long. So, you'll be back to me in no time." I somehow convinced him to go .

After Lucas went, I and Liam picked up the chairs that were thrown. We are waiting for Maya's reports to come.

After sometime, her reports came.

Lucas looked at them and handed them over to Daisy. She had a look at them.

She , then, turned to me and said, "I swear , I feel like chopping off your hands and legs and feeding them to wild animals." She said.

I decided to ignore her and asked Liam about the reports.

"I kind of guessed that this would happen but, I wanted to confirm it with the reports. Maya has gotten a Hematoma." He said.

"What's that?" I asked .

"That Mr. Illiterate Bastard is a situation where the injury damages the brain cells, leading to a formation of clot. If that clot isn't removed before it gets worse, it can lead to a permanent brain damage. Thanks for this wedding gift to my friend. " She said bitterly.

"Then, what are you waiting for Liam? Remove that clot."

"Removing a clot isn't as easy as picking out dead plants from the garden. It can lead the patient into coma and worse than that Death. " Liam explained me.

"There must be some other way out . " I asked Liam with a hope that Maya would be fine soon.

" I'm afraid to say Xavier, that there isn't any other out of this situation. You need to take the decision for her. As soon as we proceed further, the less will be chances of her sinking."

I thought for a while and said, "Go on with the surgery Liam. Just make sure everything goes well. I just want to meet her once before the surgery."

Liam nodded and took me to a room. As soon as I entered the room, I was speechless looking at the sight infront of me.

Maya was covered in various bandages. Her one leg on tied upwards with a support of a metal rod. Her head and her right hand was wrapped in the bandages.

"About the head, you know that. But, her ligament near the knee of left leg got torn when she fell down. So, it's restricted to have any kind of moments. Her right elbow is also fractured." Liam told me .

I was feeling really guilty of everything I did. But, the worst part was that I couldn't do anything to rectify my mistake.

"I'll give you two minutes to be with her." Liam said and went away from the room.

I sat on the chair beside her bed and took her fragile hands in mine.

"I don't know if my apology will make any difference to us . But, I still want a second chance from you. I'm really really sorry Maya for everything I did. I promise to never ever shout at you again and say anything bad to you.

Please, I want to know you , your likes, dislikes, hobbies, everything. I want to know about you, I want to know you.

I know that you're strong enough to fight this situation. Deal with this surgery well and emerge as the strongest person. Not for me , but at least for the sake of punishing me. Please, come out fine and more strong so that you and your friend both can punish me together. Please."

For the first time, in this whole week of being with her, I wanted to talk to her more. But, Liam came and told me that it was the time for surgery.

He asked me to sign some papers.

I've very confidently signed deals that were worth millions and billions. I was never the person who would be unsure of my decision.

But, my hands were shaking while signing it .

When I signed the papers, two people brought Maya out of the room on a stretcher. I kissed her forehead and Liam took her in the operation theatre.

I sat on the same chair in the waiting room , where I was sitting an hour back. The light outside the operation theatre lit up, giving the signal that Maya's fight with her life and death started.
