Xavier's pov:

I went to the kitchen and sight was something that soothed my eyes. Maya looked amazingly beautiful. With her hair falling over face and those small earrings , she looked like an innocent princess . With a bowl in her hand and a whisker in the other, she was all set.

My shoes kicked the floor and with that was she looked up smiling, I guess assuming it was Anna . As soon as she saw me , her smile faded . I regretted my words earlier at this moment a lot. She was so affected by my words that the beautiful smile she had, just faded away within a second, as soon as she saw me.

I even mocked her for gawking at me thinking that she would smile but she didn't. I don't know why but I didn't find the courage to apologize to her at that moment.

She then ignored me and got back to her work . She put the cake in the microwave and was going from there when she saw that I was still in the kitchen. I got upset at that moment that my presence affected her so much that she didn't even want to be with me in the same room for much time. But , I didn't want her to go away and her cake getting destroyed or burnt. So , I went from there .

After sometime , Dan and Lucas came. Dan ran straight into Mimi's arms and hugged her tightly. She was always this close to Mimi (even more than me 😁).

Lucas hugged me and said, "Dude , she she isn't cool yet . You will have to work hard a lot . This time , you messed up big ," and he patted my back .

"I know man." I replied.

I went to hug Dan but, she ignored me and sat on the couch with Lucas and Mimi. Mimi went to call Maya and returned without her. I thought she will come after a minute or two, but it had been 5 minutes Anna called her .

That's when I got up from the couch and said," I'll see what happened ."

I went in the kitchen and saw that she was rubbing her hands on her dress and an emotion of fear on her face . I went towards her and explained her that my sister and my best friend won't judge her and I found that exact moment and the courage inside me to apologise to her.

She didn't say if she forgave me or not but she calmed down after my confession.

We both went towards the living room. Then , she met Dan and Lucas. After sometime, I guess she felt that my sister wasn't talking to me. She looked at me for a second and then looked back at Dan. She then, stood up from the couch and looked at Lucas.

" Mr. Cameron, if you don't mind , Can you please come and sit with your wife? I want to talk to both of you."

Looking at her, I knew that she was freaking out inside . But, the little confidence she showed on her face, made me smile . I don't know what she was going to do . Even , I was curious. They both sat and she sat on her knees in front of both of them . They both were shocked for a second and then she said," it's ok".

She took both of their hands in hers and said, "I know you both are upset with Mr. Adams for whatever happened between us. But, let me tell you it wasn't his decision alone. Even, I said yes for this marriage . Please don't assume that he forced me or played with my emotions or my life.

He is a really great man and he's taking really good care of me.

I am really sorry, if you think I am getting in or I am intruding your family matters , but because of me you both are upset with Mr Adams. Please , I would be in a lot guilt if you continue to remain upset with him for long. If he is wrong here, then I am as much wrong as him . Because even, I supported this. I said yes to my marriage by my will. And don't worry if my life is going to get spoilt . He really a gentleman taking good care of me. Please , at least for my sake, forgive him . Please." she said .

I looked shocked at her. She didn't know that I knew about her being forced in this marriage. She so smoothly convinced Dan and Lucas that she was involved in this mess as much as I was.

My thoughts broke when Dan got up from her couch and came towards me.

"You are a really lucky bastard that you got her as your wife. If it was not for her, I really would have given you a hard time convincing me. This should be your first and last mistake or else you will have to really work hard to get my forgiveness. But, I guess having such a beautiful and intelligent wife with you will be of a great help to you whenever you make mistakes. But, I hope you don't make them again." With that she hugged me tightly.

I was so relieved that my sister finally forgave me. All thanks to Maya . Even, Lucas came and joined the hug . Maya was still sitting on the floor on her knees looking at us with happiness on her face .

That's when Lucas called Maya and said, "Even you are family Maya. Come." And with that she joined our group hugged with a bit hesitation at first . But, then she felt comfortable.

It was nice to have your people with you making your moments more special . We finally got up and I again said ," I am really sorry Dan , for whatever I did . I promise this would be my last mistake. Just dont ignore me like this anymore . I can't really take your anger."

" I know idiot you can't take my anger right. That's why I ignored you when you made such a mistake but I guess you learnt your lesson and you won't do it again . Definitely not when you have such an amazing wife."

Maya blushed at that moment. I felt really proud of Maya there. Then, Anna came and said,"Kids , come on . Have dinner."

We all went towards dining table and the complete table was decorated with Dan's and Lucas' favourite food items. It was steak, chicken ,vegetable green salad, waffels , mixed veg pizza, chicken sandwiches and much more. It seemed as if not two people but 200 people have been invited for this dinner .

Everyone sat at their places , except Maya. I know she might be feeling a bit weird about where to sit at our family dinner. I slowly pulled the chair beside me for her to sit . She understood and sat there. Lucas was winking at me. Even Dan and Mimi were smiling .

Everyone ate while talking, laughing and mocking each other. It felt really good to have such happy moments after all these days . Everyone had their dinner well. Just when everyone was about to get up, Maya stood up and said , " Wait! I made something for you both Mr. and Mrs. Cameron. I'll just bring it."

She came out of the kitchen with a beautifully decorated cake which I assume is a chocolate one because Mimi might have told her about Dan's liking for cakes especially the chocolate one .

She put the cake on the table. I couldn't believe she made it on her own. It didn't seem like someone made it at home. That cake looked like a real bakery cake made by some perfectionist .

"Mr. and Mrs. Cameron , I made this cake for both of you . Especially for you Mrs. Cameron. Anna told me how much you like cakes specially the chocolate ones."She said with a smile on her face.

"We won't have it, Maya." Lucas said.

I didn't understand his words but I guess my sister did. Even she said, "Yes Maya, we won't have cake made by you."

She looked a bit shocked and her face fell in disappointment. It seemed like she would be crying anytime soon.

That's when Lucas asked , " Won't you ask why?"

" Why?" she asked in a low voice .

Dan said, " From the moment, we came in this house , you have been calling us Mr. and Mrs. Cameron. Not that I don't like being called a Cameron, but I have a name Maya and it's Danielle and he is Lucas. We both are your family. We are not your professionals or your seniors. We would really appreciate if you call us by our names."

That's when Maya relaxed and said, "Sure, Daniel and Lucas."

" I would actually like more if you call me Dan." Said my sister laughing.

She said,"OK Dan."

We all laughed and then Dan looked at the cake and admired.

" This is really really beautiful . I know that it would taste amazing. I am eagerly waiting for it. Come on. Let's cut the cake."

Maya's pov:

Everything went just perfect today. I convinced Danielle to forgive Mr. Adams and keeping the respect for my words , she did that.

I liked it when the siblings got reunited. Lucas even called me to join their hug. It was an amazing feeling. Having a beautiful family is something I never experienced. I know , I don't belong to their family but, not even for a second they made me feel like an outsider. It felt like really good.

Even the dinner was awesome . The siblings and Lucas, continuously making fun of each other, was an amazing sight.

When I asked both of them to have the cake I made, they refused. I thought they might be upset with me for something.

I started to feel bad but that's when Lucas and Danielle asked me if I would stop addressing them formally and call them by their names ,then only they'll eat the cake. It was really nice of them.

I forwarded the cake to the couple couple to cut it. They both looked at each other for a second and pushed the cake slightly towards me and Mr. Adams .

We both looked at each other for a second and then Mr. Adams asked his sister, "Cut the cake Dan. Why did you push it to us?"

Lucas said, " You, my dumb ass best friend are really stupid."

Xavier looked at Lucas with those annoying expressions.

"I want to you guys to cut the cake. Come on, you are a newly married couple. Even though, you didn't think it important to call me for your wedding but, still we can at least celebrate your reception by cutting a cake here." Danielle said taunting Mr. Adams with a smile on her face.

"No Danielle. I made this cake specially for you. You should cut it."

"That's so sweet of you Maya. But, I am fond of eating cakes. I don't have the craze to cut the cakes. And today, we have a chance to at least celebrate your reception."

Mr. Adams said, " She is one stubborn girl Maya. I don't think she'll even listen to you. Let's please cut the cake."

He took the knife in his hand and I looked at him for a second. I know everyone expected me and him to cut the cake together. But, with some hope inside me, I waited for him to cut the cake.

Then, he took my hand and placed it on his hand with which he was holding the knife . I was shocked by this move of him but quickly masked my emotions and we both cut the cake. Everyone laughed and clapped. I mentally thanked God that they didn't ask us to feed each other.

Then , I cut a piece of cake and put it in a plate. I forwarded the plate to Danielle.

"Please taste it and tell me how's it. " I was waiting, hoping for a positive response from her .

She took the spoon and took a small bite of cake in her mouth and looked at me for a second without any emotions on her face. I thought I had definitely screwed this cake . It might not taste good to her. That's why , she was looking at me like that.

"I'm really sorry if I spoilt the cake. I'll just go and bring something else for dessert."

That's when she laughed and said, "Oh god Maya! You get scared very easily. The cake it just amazing . I was just pulling your legs . It's really amazing. I guess, I'll have to visit every week to have this cake made by you." She said licking her spoon.

"Please don't. You are a big headache and if you visit me every week then , I will start having headache." Mr. Adams said and laughed.

"Then guess man , how I must be handling her from the last four years. First, it was dating . Then, it was the marriage. She is really a trouble."

Both the friends were laughing and Danielle was looking at each of them fuming with anger. That's when, they both understood that their fun went a long way .

But, now both of them started to apologise to her. But she didn't listen. Then, they both understood that they are going to have a hard time again.

Then Lucas side hugged his wife and said, "Baby , you know I was just pulling your legs. Don't be upset. I am sorry baby. I am really sorry."

"I am really sorry Dan. Please don't ignore me again. You know we were just pulling your legs . Don't get upset . "

She didn't talk to both of them even after their numerous SORRYs.

They both looked at each other and got scared.

That's when, I laughed . Everyone looked at me like there's some ghost.

Mr. Adams said," Maya , please don't laugh over our condition. You don't know how her anger is. She won't talk to you for a day, even a week or even a month. Her anger is a real bad thing."

That's when I laughed more .

Then Lucas said, " What's wrong with you Maya? Why are you laughing? She is really upset with us and we are hell worried. Instead of helping us ,you are laughing here." He said looking really scared.

"I am really very sorry guys if you felt bad about me laughing . But, I couldn't control it anymore . She is just pulling your legs as you pulled hers. She isn't upset with anyone of you . She was just joking." I said laughing.

"Maya , how did you get that ? Even after knowing me from last 4 years , Lucas couldn't get that. Being my brother, Xavier couldn't get that. But, how could you just get that I was kidding . That too only after knowing me for hardly 2 hours , Maya?" Danielle said.

"I don't know how I guessed it. But, I guess your love for both the guys shows that you cannot be upset at them for just pulling your legs . When you ignored both of them even after they both apologize to you multiple times , I've got that you were just joking around with them. You know in these two hours, I have known one thing about you that even though you might be upset with someone but it's only for their own good. You sure are not a person who will get angry at her own brother and husband, just because they pulled her legs. Am I right?" I said.

That's when Danielle stood up from the chair, came to me and hugged me.

"I feel like you have known me since my birth. You are my true sister. You just got me very well. See, you both learn something from her . Even after knowing me for so many years you couldn't even get that I was kidding and she just understood everything." She said .

I just smiled at her eyes. I then, cut the cake into pieces and give it to everyone . Everyone liked the cake and appreciated it except Mr. Adams.

Soon , everyone moved to the living room. Anna was tired . So, she went to her room. Everyone sat in the living room. Mr. Adams and Lucas were sitting on one couch, while me and Danielle were sitting on the another .They both were talking about some business things and I was kind of getting bored.

I guess Danielle was also getting bored.

She said, "Come on Maya. These working people think about business even in their sleep. We won't find anything interesting in their talks. Let's go upstairs and have some girls time." She said .

"Even you run a multi billion dollars company Darling. You too are a businesswoman." Lucas said.

"And I used some of those dollars to get myself a office and work there. Not like you morons discussing business in the living room." She replied sticking out her tongue to the boys.

I laughed at her answer and took her to my room. When she came in my room, she took a look at the room and said , "Wow Maya . I have seen this room many times but, it always looked like the guest room . But, now it looks like someone just did some magic on this room and turned it into an amazing bedroom. "

She went towards the glass cabinet where I kept my books.

"You like reading. Are you a bookworm?" She asked me.

" Yes, I definitely like reading. I am much into books but definitely not a bookworm." I replied.

"I guess, Mimi must have told you about me but I'll still introduce myself formally." She said laughing and composing her posture.

" This beautiful lady , in front of you, is Danielle Adams Cameron. I am a fashion designer and a business woman and it's so nice to meet you."

She said extending her hand to me. I laughed at her and shook my hand with her.

"Now , it's your turn. "she said.

" I'm Maya Jones . A software engineer by profession and now friend and sister of this beautiful lady called Mrs. Daniel Cameron."

I shook my hand with her and we both laughed at our silliness.

"You know what, let's check your wardrobe . Don't take it in wrong way. Being a fashion designer, I've always had this curiosity to check other's wardrobes. And you know, we can decide if you need to add something or not to your collection. And you being a friend of a fashion designer , should have every trending piece with you. Let's go. " She said pulling me towards the closet.

She went inside and said, " Maya don't you like clothes? You have very less clothes. Come on, you are my friend and my friend needs to be updated with every trend and style right now." She told me.

"I know but I am not much into, you know, branded things. I definitely like them but it was never what I could afford. I appreciate the brands and the designs but I never thought of getting something so expensive. And you know, right now I am saving for something important. I don't mean to say that people who buy clothes waste their money on that . But, right now it's not my priority . I have something else as my priority." I told her.

"Oh my god Maya , you really think practically. But, you know what, I'll give you your wedding gift tomorrow. We will go to my stores and get you a few things. That will be a gift from me and Lucas to you." She said.

"That's really not needed Dan. I appreciate you but I really don't need anything more. I have, you know, everything. I have a roof over my head. I have food to eat 2 times a day and most important I have people like you, Anna and Lucas with me . So, I think I have everything I need. I don't need anything more than that." I told her.

"I really like you a lot Maya and please don't consider it as something like I want to do for you just because you have less. I want to do that to you because I find you are an amazing person . I just wanted to give you something , that I definitely would have gifted my brother's wife if he would have done real wedding, like you know a big family thing . And if your wedding was a ceremony, you definitely would have had to accept that. Please it's my request . I insist you." She said with her puppy face and I guess no one could ignore that face.

"Okk! If that's what you want. But please , not too much." I said.

She literally jumped on me and hugged me with happiness and said,"Thank you so much ."

We don't know for how we kept on talking about her business, her love for fashion designing, her love story and what not.
