They were sitting on folding chairs around the fire pit holding marshmallows on a skewer over the fire when Berkley's burst into flames and it took her a few seconds to blow it out. It slowly oozed off the skewer and dropped right into the sand.

"Not again! I swear this always happens to me!" she laughed.

He shook his head, laughing. "You do this every time. You get it too close to the flame. I'll give you one of mine like I always do."

"Awww. Thank you Deanie Weenie!" she said, leaning over and kissing his cheek.

He laughed. "You know how much I hate that nickname."

She faked a shocked expression. "Really? I had no idea. Hey Deanie Weenie? Will you pass me the hot dogs?"

He put down his skewer and stood up, scooping her up out of her chair and he started walking towards the ocean.

"What are you doing?" she screamed.

"I think you need a bath!"

"No! Don't do it! I promise I won't call you that again!" she squealed and laughed, gripping onto his shoulders as he pretended to lean down to put her in the water.

Right before she touched it he lifted her back up and she kept her tight grip around him, laughing and screaming for him to take her back. He considered it for a second before he started walking back towards the chairs and plopped her down into hers and sat back down in his seat, picking his skewer back up.

She looked over at him, trying to fight back a smile.

"Man, Deanie Weenie has a temper."

He went to get out of his chair so she jumped up first and ran as fast as she could down the dark beach, kicking up sand behind her, laughing so hard her side hurt.

She finally stopped and turned around when she thought she was far enough away only to get tackled into the sand and assaulted with tickles all over her stomach and sides as she squealed and laughed.

Finally Dean collapsed onto the sand beside her laughing too and they both laid there catching their breath.

"Call me Deanie Weenie again and I'm gonna post that video to Facebook of you dancing around your bedroom in your Spongebob Squarepants underwear wearing a feather boa and sunglasses singing It's Raining Men. That was classic."

"I would literally kill you!" she laughed, smacking him. "I was 5 and it was so off key. You wouldn't dare!"

"Try me. Call me Deanie Weenie again," he said confidently. "I dare you."

She turned to look at him, catching her breath and holding back a laugh before she whispered softly, "Deanie Weenie."

He looked over and narrowed his eyes at her laughing. "I'm not playing around here Berk. I have way more than that video too. I've known you since you were born and we spent every day together and you think I don't have the dirt on you?" he laughed. "Oh the things that these lips could tell. I know ALL your deepest, darkest secrets."

She knew this was true.

"Okay! FIne! You win Dean. No more Deanie Weenie," she laughed but then she laid there thinking about it for a second and the thought of never being able to call him that again hit her and she made a sad face. "Can I at least just say it a couple more times to get it out of my system?" she pouted, sticking her bottom lip out and giving him the puppy dog eyes.

He rolled his eyes and took a deep breath in and let it out, "Fine," he grumbled in defeat.

That made her smile and her face lit up. He always caved when she pouted.

"I love you Deanie Weenie. You're the bestest best friend ever," she said, leaning over and kissing his cheek with a victorious smile.

"I know," he said with a laugh. "Because no one else could put up with you like I do. Now one more time. That's all you get. So get it out of your system."

"Ok," she said, sitting up. "DEANIE WEENIE!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Hey!" he laughed. "No one said anything about screaming it! Now you're dead!"

She scrambled to her feet and took off back down the beach running toward the fire pit with him chasing after.

A little while later they were sitting back at the fire and her phone rang.

"Hey Zander! How are you?" she asked, in a happy voice putting him on speaker phone. Dean rolled his eyes but being in her favorite place in the world with her best friend had her in a great mood and even the fact that he hated Zander couldn't bring her down right now.

"I'm good. What are you up to?" he asked.

"Not much. We're just making some s'mores around the fire. What about you?"

"Oh I'm just getting ready to go to some stupid party with my friends. They're forcing me to go."

"Sounds like fun."

"I'd much rather be hanging out with you tonight but you ditched me this weekend."

"I'm sorry," she said, feeling guilty. "I promise I'll make it up to you when I get back."

"You promise?" he asked.

"Yeah. Monday night after we get back we can hang out, as long as I've gotten all my work done. I have a test to study for and a couple assignments."

"Can I sleep over?" he asked.

She was taken aback by that question. "Oh ummmm. I hadn't thought about it. Do you want to sleep over?"

"Yeah. I mean we've been dating two weeks. I think it's about time for a sleepover, don't you?"

"Ummm. Well, I mean technically we've just been hanging out for two weeks. You haven't even asked me to be your girlfriend yet," she said with an awkward laugh, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Oh," he said, pausing for a moment in silence. "Well you don't really have to be my girlfriend for me to sleep over. Just think about it. Okay?"

"Ummm. Yeah. I guess I'll think about it."

"Ok sounds good. Good night beautiful."

"Good night," she said, letting out an exhale before hanging up.

She looked over and noticed Dean wasn't smiling at all. He looked angry as he poked at the fire aggressively with a stick.

"You don't like Zander very much do you?" she asked.

"My opinion doesn't matter," he grumbled. "I promised to stay out of it and give you space to make your own mistakes and that's what I'm trying to do."

"Yeah well you may not be saying it with your words but it's written all over your face. Why do you hate him so much? He's such a good guy."

Dean scoffed. "Oh yeah he's a good guy," he laughed.

She was confused and didn't understand where this anger was coming from.

"Yeah he is a good guy. What makes you think he's not?"

He took a deep breath in and let it out, poking at the fire and staring at it intently like he was debating whether or not to share what he knew.

"Please Dean," she said, laying a hand on his arm.

He took a deep breath in and let it out and said, "I have a Marketing Management class with Zander and I overheard him talking to his friend about you earlier today. He said things were starting to get hot and heavy with you two and he was bragging about how he was doing all the sappy bullshit he needed to do to get in your pants. He was bragging about how it was gonna happen this weekend."

"This weekend?" she asked. Then it clicked. "Is THAT why you really invited me to come here with you this weekend? So I wouldn't sleep with Zander? Not because you thought I was stressed out and needed a getaway? You lied to me? You tricked me into coming here?" she asked, feeling hurt.

"No wait. There's more to the story Berk. Just let me explain."

"No. I don't want to hear your explanation. I can't believe you did this again," she said, shaking her head in disbelief. Then she looked over at him and a thought clicked into her head. "Just tell me one thing Dean. It's been nagging in the back of my mind for weeks. Why did Blake all of a sudden hook up with Skye Evans when he was about to leave for college? They didn't even know each other. Did you have something to do with that?"

Dean looked down and had a guilty look on his face and it felt like a knife in her heart.

"I really liked him Dean!" she shouted.

"I know you did but I saw the way he looked at other women and I knew it was just a matter of time before he was going to cheat on you, so I tested him and he failed."

"No," she said, shaking her head. "I've heard enough. You promised Dean. You promised to stop interfering in my relationships. I can't believe you did this," she said in frustration. She was so disappointed in him right then she couldn't even see straight.

She grabbed up all of her stuff and made her way back into the beach house. She found her way up to the guest room where her luggage was and she locked the door behind her and stood against it, catching her breath. Her heart was pounding with adrenaline and she felt the tears burning at her eyes before one rolled down her cheek.

Dean promised this time. She couldn't remember him ever breaking a promise or lying to her and that hurt worse than she thought it would. She went into the attached bathroom and took a bath with lavender oil, letting all the stress of the day wash away. Being here was supposed to be a relaxing retreat from school stress but now it was just adding stress.

She laid there in the hot steaming bath water and thought about the different times over the years that Dean and her brother had sabotaged her relationships with every guy she had ever liked or got close to while they got to hook up with any girl they wanted. It was so unfair. The thought of it made her so angry. She really hated the way they had controlled and manipulated her life over the years.

Back in high school, Dean hooked up with Sydney, who was the captain of the cheer team and the biggest bitch in the entire school, that Berkley hated with a passion, but she never interfered and tried to keep them apart. Of course she wasn't happy about it but she figured he would figure it out eventually on his own. When Dean lost his virginity to Sydney and told her all about it in vivid detail she bit her tongue and endured it. Why couldn't he offer her the same freedom and respect?

She was feeling so conflicted and angry over what he had done. He was such a hypocrite. She reached over and grabbed her cell phone off the sink and dialed.

"Hey babe," Zander said. "Miss me already."

"I wanted to tell you I've been thinking about that sleepover you wanted to have on Monday when I get back and the answer is yes. I'm ready to sleep with you Zander. I'm done waiting."

"Really? That's great Berkley. I'm looking forward to it."

"Me too," she said with an exhale.
