Sara sucked in air.
For some reason, Bentley didn't react at all to seeing the girl. He simply sighed and combed his fingers through his tousled, silken hair.
"Well?" the blonde repeated. She stomped her foot, impatiently waiting for one of them to answer.
Sara bit her lip.
What could she say?
"Beeeentleeeey! This is totally be-jeezus, unbelievable. I'm feeling quite off the roof with confusion here," the girl said.
Sara lifted an eyebrow.
The girl turned her stormy face towards Sara.
It was that blonde lookalike Wonder Twin!
"Go, I'll distract her," Bentley whispered.
Sara stifled a giggle as she darted up off the couch. She hastily grabbed her costume off the floor and ran from the room. Behind her she heard Bentley say, "Come on, Carmen. You and Alicia both know I--"
Sara didn't hear the rest.
The bouncer outside The Cave grabbed her by the shoulder. "You need clothes, Miss," he growled.
Sara stopped dead in her tracks. "Oh, right. Sorry." She flung her rumpled nurse costume over her head and quickly buttoned it.
This bouncer probably thinks Bentley and I hooked up. OMG I am SO not that easy, Sara thought in dismay.
She had just turned to go when Erin slammed into her.
"CHICA! Where have you BEEN? I've been looking everywhere for you!" Erin's right braid had come undone and her Little Red Riding Hood cape was twisted strangely to the side.
"Oh really?" Sara said. She poked a finger at Erin's wrinkled dress.
Erin rolled her eyes. "Please. My make-out sesh with Trev...that happened SO five minutes ago." She waved a hand in the air. "Anyway, Pam called. She LOVES our costumes," Erin said. She had to yell to be heard over the music. "The grill closed early for Halloween tonight. So Pam and Patrick are both out on the town." She snickered. "And get this, they're in a couple's costume, too. Only they're dressed up as a librarian and a book." Erin kept her face neutral. But then she burst out laughing. "Pam's the book!"

Sara started to giggle, too. While she and Erin loved Pam to pieces, they both knew that Pam could never pick out a decent Halloween outfit.
"I'm sure Pam makes a book costume look great," Sara said.
Erin held up her phone to show Sara a picture.
Pam and Patrick were holding each other and smiling.
Patrick wore a gray suit and tie. He had tiny spectacles perched on his nose. He still looked pretty cute, especially with his crooked little tooth and forest green eyes.
Pam, however, was practically hidden inside her huge costume. To top it off, there was a big plastic bookworm sewn into the side of it.
"Well, if Patrick thinks she looks awesome, that's what matters," Sara said. "But let Pam know you and I are going to choose her costume next year."
Erin gave her an air five. "Totally with you, Chica." She dropped her phone back into her small purse. "All right. It's Halloween. We're in Miami. We're in a nightclub. LET'S DANCE!"
Erin took Sara's hands and started to spin her around.
Sara did a twirl, giggling heartily. As she took Erin's hands to help her friend spin, she locked eyes from afar...with Bentley.
He stood like a sculpted marble statue, watching her intently.
Even in the sea of dancing bodies around them, his glowing chocolate milk eyes melted her insides completely, sending her heart racing into a fluttering fury.
He winked at her.
Sara attempted a wink back, but her glued on fake eyelash seemed to catch. She pushed the eyelash out of her eye and saw Bentley laughing. His eyes sparkled under the neon lights.
The two Wonder Twins had their arms wrapped around him. One of the girls whispered into his ear.
He said something back that caused the girl to scowl.
When his eyes flitted back towards Sara, they had resumed their sparkle.
Erin pulled Sara out of her dreamy trance by spinning her around again. "Your nurse costume is really wrinkled, Chica. What happened? Did you cross paths with a super sexy someone special?" Erin's face blanched as realization dawned on her.
Sara closed her eyes and reopened them. Erin didn't miss a thing.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
