"License and registration," the police officer grunted. The walkie talkie on his belt crackled loudly.

Sara couldn't move.

"Sara!" Erin hissed from the backseat.

"S-sure," Sara sputtered. She wanted more than anything to explode in anger. It was Rex's fault. She was innocent. This Jeep had a mind of its own. Why did she have to take the fall for something that wasn't even alive?

Her hands shook as she reached for her small bag to retrieve her license. How much would the fine be?

After a moment of incredibly awkward fumbling, Sara managed to pry her license from her wallet. She couldn't look at the cop as she handed him the card. She was SO embarrassed.

She closed her eyes, listening to the quiet breathing of her friends in the backseat.

"You know how fast you were driving, Miss?" the cop asked, examining her license.

Sara shook her head. She kept her eyes locked on the wheel. She wouldn't allow herself to cry.

"Too fast," the cop said.

Trevor laughed, leaning forward. "So is this a trick or a treat, Officer? I mean, are we talking prison bars or candy bars?"

"QUIET!" the cop snarled.

Trevor ducked down behind the seat.

The police officer tapped Sara's license against the side of the Jeep. "Registration?"

"Oh, right!" Sara stammered. She reached into the glove box.

It was...EMPTY! She gulped.

Where would the registration be? She had never had a traffic violation before. Plus, the Jeep wasn't even hers.

"Um..." Sara said softly. Her head felt dizzy like she was about to faint.

Suddenly, a thunderous rumble reverberated through the air. A bright purple car streaked by them like a deadly bolt of lightning.

"What the--?" the police officer muttered. He took a step back, scratching his head. He gaped in disbelief at the purple car as it tore wildly down the street.

The purple car's tires squealed loudly. It did a one-eighty...and then turned and tore back down the road, going in the wrong direction!

Oncoming cars honked and swerved to avoid it.

The purple car made a beeline for their Jeep on the side of the road.

It was going to crash right into them!

The cop swore and dove sideways away from the Jeep. The big man landed hard on the pavement.

Sara could only scream and cover her eyes. She heard her friends' cries of panic from behind her.

At the last possible second, the purple car angled around the Jeep. It did a quick loop around the flow of traffic, and sped off again down the street.

The cop leaped to his feet, cursing. He grabbed his walkie-talkie. "I got an out-of-control Lambo on the freeway. I need backup NOW!"

He flung Sara's license back through the window. "Consider this a WARNING!" he yelled, running back to his car.

The sirens on the cop car screamed to life as it raced away.

"Whoa!" Trevor murmured. He put his hands on Sara's shoulders. "Talk about a stroke of luck!"

"Dude! Did you SEE that car? That was a Lamborghini!" Chad said. "That sucker must be filled with rocket fuel at the speed it was going!"

"Yeah," Dan whooped from behind. "Sara, lucky for you that other car showed up. Would've been a hefty ticket. That cop was mad."

Erin let out a long sigh of relief. "Can we just get out of here now? Sara, how about I drive, okay?"

Sara fiddled with the license in her lap. There was only one person she knew who owned a purple sports car that glowed in the dark.

The boy with the beautiful name had saved her. Again.

Three more cop cars sped by them, their sirens blaring.

Thank you, Bentley! Sara thought. She hoped he could avoid getting arrested. At the speed he was going in that sports car, she was certain the trail of dust he left behind could be seen from Mars.

Erin walked up to the driver's side window.

Only then did Sara actually get scared.
