Erin waltzed into the room, smiling jubilantly.

"You LEFT me!" Sara growled. She finished off her drink. Her head felt really funny now, but she didn't care.

Erin picked up her cup and smelled it. "Holy eff to the eff, Sara. Do you know what this is? You're gonna be off your high-heeled walker after this stuff."

"Go easy on her, Erin. Sara Sweet needs to find her sour once in awhile." Trevor laughed at his own lame joke.

Erin patted Sara's face with her hand.

Sara was about to say something else, when Trevor grabbed Erin and wrapped her in a hug, kissing her cheek.

Erin's eyes shone like stars.

Sara tried not to laugh. Or to gag. Her friend looked so terrifically happy, it was appalling.

She tried to distract Trevor before he kissed Erin on the mouth right in front of her. "So..." she said, filling her cup with what she hoped was lemonade. "You have a fantastic house, Trevor."

Trevor grinned. He swatted Erin's hand away from his bow tie.

She giggled and began to kiss the side of his neck.

Sara guessed her friend had had some of the mystery punch in the big crystal bowl on the other table.

"Yeah, the house is pretty great. Incredible is more like it." He polished off his cup.

"UnFORTUNately, it belongs to the schmuck who got me for a grand. Mr. Play Boy Bentley."

Sara felt the blood rush to her head. They were at his house? The boy with the beautiful name????

Trevor was still talking "...and he just had to show off to all the models that he knew how to beat the socks off everyone at Blackjack."

Erin rested her head on his shoulder. She looked up at him through painted eyelashes.

Sara crossed her legs, jiggling her high heeled foot expectantly.

"Effing Bentley," Trevor snapped, biting into his cookie. "The guy's perfect. A perfect a$$."

Trevor pointed out the open French doors to a large balcony.

Sara could see the ocean reflected in the moon's white, eerie light.

"You wanna go thank the host, you'll find him out there. And in case you were wondering, this is a BONFIRE party."

Sara could now see sparks flickering in the darkness far out on the beach. A large fire popped and crackled in the wind. Shadows from dancing bodies swayed in and out in front of the flames.

She now knew where she wanted to go next.
