Chapter 33:

I walked out of the bathroom after Landon gave me his gigantic shirt to cover my body. He was the first thing I spotted, seeing him sitting on the edge of his bed looking at his phone.

Apparently he didn't hear his bathroom door open and the sound of me clearing my voice, so I made the decision to close the distance between us. Each step made my heart pump a little bit faster, I'm still not use to his presence despite the fact that we just slept together, and I don't think I'll ever be.

Standing two feet in front of him, he finished up typing before he clicked his phone off to set it face up on the bed. His calculated eyes traveled up my legs to his black shirt before he met my brown eyes with his hazel ones.

His eyes seemed worried about something, but he tried to the best of his ability to divert my attention away from it. He tried to smile at me, but we both knew it was forced.

Closing the distance my hands found his hair and he released a defeated sigh-he knew I figured him out in this moment-resting his head against my stomach. I tugged on it gently, signaling him that I wanted him to lift his head up to look at me. After a moment passed he finally did.

We didn't have to say a word to each other, his hand gripped the sides of his shirt on my body and my body began to warm up again, but it wasn't from the coldness of the after shower. Leaning down, I watched his eyes flutter close before our lips met.

It was gently at first, just us trying to memorize each other but I knew he was impatient. Bringing his right hand to my left leg he lifted it up, causing me to lose my balance before he made me straddle him. He increased this pace, kissing me urgently and aggressively and I would be lying to say if I didn't like it.

My body still felt sore from last night and I winced after feeling him opening his legs more to get comfortable. He knew it to, wrapping his arm around my body he twisted so now I was under him.

Bending his right leg so he didn't put all of his weight on me, he continued to take what I was giving him. His hands found the inside of my shirt before leaving trails all around my body, that I knew he would walk later, once I was up for the adventure again.

He broke away from the kiss, bringing his left hand up to tilt my head to the side. He placed butterfly kisses on my neck, before running the tip of his nose up it and that made me shiver in delight. It all came to an end as he placed an innocent kiss to my cheek.

"You really have been holding out on me." I tried to joke and he coughed out a laugh before lifting himself up so that I could sit up. What we just did only distracted him for a little bit but reality soon settled back in. "What's wrong Landon?"

I pushed myself off the bed to stand in front of him again, with the little space he did grant me. Grabbing both of my hands in his, he placed them together after seeing me twiddle with them in nervousness. "Nothing, I'm fine."

"No you're not." I wasn't trying to tell him how to feel but also he didn't have to lie to me, I knew something was bothering him. And I was right, his eyes had lost mine instead they looked at our hands joined together. "Are you okay?" I was more serious this time than I had ever been.

"She texted me."

Three words.. three words was all it took for me to know who he was talking about.

"What did she want?"

"Probably the same thing she always wants from me." He replied back, nonchalantly.

"I'm sorry-"

"You have nothing to be sorry for sweetheart, this is my mess and this isn't your problem to deal with." He pulled me onto his lap.

"Well I'm in it now, and it's not fair. You shouldn't be going through this and-"

"Embre." He hushed me before my rant could even proceed forward. "You're going to get circles under your eyes if you keep that up."

"Whatever." I sighed, trying to take my hands back to rest at my sides.

"Did I make you upset?" He tried to coo at me like a baby and I rolled my eyes before trying to push him away.

"Stop it." I tried to surpass my laugh, trying to twist out of his hold on me. Him being stronger than me it was easy for him to pin my hands to my side. "Let go."

"Only if you ask nicely."

"That was me being nice."

"Why did it sound like you wanted to run me over with a truck?"

"Because if you don't stop, I could possibly make it happen."

"I love you."

My stupid heart picked up at that, and to keep him from seeing my slight blush, I placed my head on his chest. "You're not playing fair."

"Let me see you." He ordered me and I shook my head no, it was bizarre how he made my emotions go all over the place and back again.

"You're just saying that so I won't run you over with a truck." I mumbled and he chuckled while releasing my hands to place them on my cheeks and lifted my face for him to see.

"I was being serious."

"And when are you not?"

"Good point." He bent down to peck my lips before releasing me. "You hungry?"

"Starving." He was already walking out the door. "Wait you're not going to cook are you?"

"And if I am?"

"I'll call the fire department." I didn't need him to turn around to know he rolled his eyes at me, the little faith I had in him to cook. I followed behind him into the kitchen. "Seriously we can just go out for breakfast."

"That's a waste of money." He commented, opening the refrigerator in the process. "We have food here."

"Babe.. at least let me-"

"What did you call me?" He halfway closed the refrigerator to eye me and out of awkwardness, I crossed one foot over the other before tugging on his shirt.

"Uh.." I was trying to try something new but he just wasn't let me skate on ice, if anything it was thin. "Babe?"

"I dare you to call me that in the office." He grinned before getting back to work.

Sitting in the stool, I watched him try to maneuver through the kitchen and after seeing a egg shell go into the pan I decided it was better for me to put him out of his misery.

Eggs, biscuits and bacon was something he could handle to make and it turned out decent.

We sat across from each other and he finished first, going to wash his dish. It didn't take me long after and went to go stand next to him to help.

Placing the last dish in the cabinet, I turned only to be cage in between the countertop and him.

"You want to know something?" He leaned in close to me.

"And what's that?"

"You look sexy in my shirt," He states and just like that my face heats up at his simple words.

"Thanks, so uh should be get ready for work?"

"Don't get shy on me now."

"You're annoying." I titled my head back to look at him before moving his left hand so I could go upstairs to change.

I tried to go upstairs but the minute my foot touched the second step, I felt a sharp pain between my legs and winced but continued anyway.

Finally reaching upstairs, I made a bee line for my room. Closing the door I began to get ready and less than thirty minutes I was ready to go.

Smoothing out my dress shirt, I took a look at myself in the mirror. I realized I had on the same outfit when I walked into his office trying to secure a job.

I felt different in a good way and it made the decision I made last night worth it, I looked happy.

"You ready?" I heard Landon ask me and I jumped startled before walking out.

"Yes I am."

"I don't want you here anymore." He was firm in his statement.

"What?" My heart began to race at his words. "What did I do?"

"No." He shook his head before he tried a different approach. "I meant in here." He gestured to the room.

"And that's your way of offering me half of your bed?" I asked, grabbing my purse and phone. "I'll think about it." I played coy before trying to walk out.

Grabbing ahold of my wrist, he brought me back to him. "There isn't much to think about."

"Yeah kind of, I have to wake up to your face every morning."

"And that's a bad thing?"

"It's not." I confirmed. "But I'm already invading your space, you want me to stay here?" He didn't answer and I knew he was thinking about his next words carefully.

"I do."

"You do? Are you sure?" I tested him so more to see if this was really want he wanted.

"Yes." He was frank about his answer.

"Okay then yes." I agreed. "But if I find dirty clothes on the floor I'm out."

"Deal." He chuckled before kissing me softly on the lips. "Let's go to work."
