Chapter 22:

Taken back by hearing a knock on my door, I tried to hurry up and find my tank top and shorts before telling whoever it was to hold on. The knocking increased in tempo. "I'm coming!" Rushing to the door, I swung it open to see Adaline.

"Adaline! Why are you banging so loud?"

"I'm here for the details." She barged into my room and I shut the door.

"Details of what?"

She scowls me. "The DATE."

"Oh that." I snapped my fingers before plopping myself down on the bed.

"So?" She dragged, sitting down next to me.

"It was amazing."

"That's it?"

"I don't know he took me on a yacht and it was beautiful so many candles, flowers and lights... he's a sweetheart-"

"Pfft a sweetheart." She laughed, and then she stopped almost automatically. "I'm sorry continue."

I shrug my shoulders. "That's about it-besides getting to know him."

"Did you guys kiss?" She asked, so that's what she wanted to know.

"Yeah."

"How was it? Bad kisser?"

"Nothing really, he was my first. OH before I forget." I jumped up to grab her dress from the dresser. "I can dry clean it for you if you want."

"Dry clean? I'll just wash it." She opened her hand and I draped it into her waiting palm.

"So who's this Josh?"

"Oh." She blushed a scarlet red.

"Yeah him."

"I met him two years ago when I was 18." She said, dropping onto my bed. "And he was 20 at a diner." I settled beside her for the story. "That I was working at- before I began working for Mr. Hale- and he walked in with a group of his friends. I admit they were all good looking but for some reason my eyes landed on him. I really didn't want to take their order, I mean they all looked like Greek gods! So I asked Kimberly, she was another waiter, to do it and she did. Probably the worse decision on my part."

"I was walking to this other table and I felt a pair of eyes staring at me like a hawk would a worm, but I paid no attention to it because I had to get this mean old man some coffee and when I turned around and he was standing right there."

"Adaline." I stopped her and she took a deep breath. "Breathe." She was talkative instead of just giving the run down of I met him in a diner two years ago where I worked.

"Oh right thank you."

"Okay you can continue."

"At the end of my shift, they had already left and I was making my way to my car and I was looking through my purse for my keys and I bumped into someone and that someone happened to be him, I was confused because I thought he would have gone home or something. Long story short we spoke little and ever two days he would come to visit me until one day I saw him with a girl and so I admit I was jealous but he didn't know that until he waited for me the next two days I gave him the cold shoulder. And when I was walking away he pulled me to him and he ended up kissing me and here we are now."

"You love him?"

"Yeah I do, but going the extra step into being in love is scary and dangerous for the heart. But I know we will last, that's if he can keep up with my mood swings."

"You want to watch a movie and eat candy?" She changed the subject like she just didn't give me a monologue.

"Sure, but where are we going to get the candy?"

"When I went out to see my family, I stopped at the corner store and picked me up a few little things."

"Like?"

"Skittles, sour patch, snickers, twix.."

"That's a few to you?"

"Yep."

"Alright well, where are we going to watch the movie?"

"In my room, the tv is bigger."

"Don't say that out loud." I hushed her while looking at the tv. "You might hurt its feelings."

Rolling her eyes she got up from my bed to exit the room and I follow after her. "So what movie?" I ask, once we settled down with our snacks in the middle between us, she laying at the the bottom of the bed while I was at the top.

I'm thinking she's going to say something romantic or a drama film, but looking back at me she wiggles her eyebrows. "The Incredibles."

"Really?" I laughed, watching her through her 7/11 bag on the bed that contained the candy.

"Yes." She pressed play again and we enjoyed each other's company. We laughed at the funny parts- I'm still trying to figure out how 'Dash' ran through the water.

At the end we both look at each other. "That was totally wicked!" Mocking the little boy at the end.

"Wanna watch the second movie?" She asked and I had nothing but time on my hands even though I was exhausted. "Alright."

We barely got into the next movie before I heard Adaline snoring when I turned my head. Scouting myself off the bed so she wouldn't wake up, I put all of her candy back on the desk where she had it before putting her comforter around her so she wouldn't be cold.

Shutting off the tv, I walked out of her room preparing to go to mine but another sound startled me.. what was that?

My heart picked up in my chest as I heard the sound again but it was coming down the other hallway, exactly where Landon was.

Was he okay?

Padding my way over to his door, I knocked before entering. "Landon?" I felt like I was talking to thin air.

The room is dark, of course and he was sleep and the sound of his sheets ruffling around made me become anxious.

Walking to the edge of his bed, I touched his skin and I pulled back after feeling the moisture of his sweat on my hand. I ignored it as I tried to shake him awake. "Landon." He doesn't move.

"Landon?" I ask again shaking him a little bit more roughly this time so he could wake up from what ever was going on with him.

He stirred in his sleep before I felt his hand capture mine, halting me from shaking him again. "Embre?"

"Yeah."

"What's wrong?" He sat up in his bed and I used my left hand to turn on his lamp.

He blinked rapidly for a few seconds before his vision come back to him. "Are you okay? You're sweating."

"Yeah I'm fine." His hand held mine loosely as used his other hand to cover his face before letting it fall.

His bed hair was a sight to see as his hazel green eyes stared at me, noticing that he didn't have a shirt on revealing his muscular frame to me. My eyes traveled down even more before darting my eyes back up.

"I was just checking." I cleared my throat. "I'll be going now." I tried to take my hand back but his grip tightened around mine like iron.

"Wait."

"Yes?"

"Stay."

"Landon, you need to rest." I took my hand from his but only to sit on the edge of his bed.

"Please?"

"Wait, you're not naked are you?" I sat the duvet back down before my eyes would have been scarred.

"Find out for yourself." He scouted over for me to lay down and I eyed him before finding he had on a pair of boxer briefs.

Slipping beside him, I turn my body towards the door. My heart was beaten a mile per minute as I felt his presence next to mine.

He didn't seem like to the space I had created between us feeling his left hand wrapped around my hip area his fingers spaced across my stomach and I was still trying to figure out how I was still breathing. He nuzzles his nose into my neck. "Can you turn off the light?"

Reaching over with my left hand, I clicked it off before getting back comfortable. "Thank you." I felt as if there was a double meaning behind that.

"You're welcome." I snuggled my head into the pillow with my hands underneath it and soon enough I was fast sleep in his arms.
