Chapter 5:

I toss and turn thinking about him.

Why am I thinking about him? It had been two weeks since then.

I sigh as I turn my head into my pillow. "Embre!" Regina calls out to me and on cue my eyes touched the surface of my eyelids. What now? I roll off of bed already missing its warmth.

I make my way out of the bedroom to go to the living room were Regina is sitting on the couch. the computer in her lap.

"Yes?" I ask, my voice sounding annoyed and groggy.

"Come check this is out!" she exclaims. My eyes darted over the night stand to see what time it was... she was serious right now?

I rush to her after seeing her impatient look and I sit down "What is it?" I ask again, my voice seeming suggesting to what she was saying instead of being rude.

"Look." She points at the screen, and following her directions I look at the screen and in bold print it's highlighted.

1. PA.

2. Fax workers

3. Receptionist.

My heart drops.

Well that wasn't shocking at all. "You should sign up for an interview." Regina concludes.

"I don't know if I want to." I gave her my thesis and I knew she was going to try to give me the rest of why I should.

She looks at me puzzled. "What do you mean you don't want to?"

"I mean what if it is the same man from two weeks ago?"

"I'm confused." Regina rested her fingertips on the back of the computer, almost shutting the computer.

"Do you know who Landon Hale is?"

"Uh.. should I?"

I gesture for her to give me the computer and she hands it over with no debate. Opening another page, I go to google and tap in his name. I hand her back the computer.

"What the-" Regina eyes widen, seeing the same man we saw.

"Yeah that's Landon Hale."

"A millionaire?" She stuttered out. "Wait.. and you were dancing with him, and then-" I sucked my bottom lip into my mouth while my eyebrows creased down as she said the last bit. "And I totally ruined your moment."

"It wasn't really a moment Regina, and who knows what could have happened." I shrugged.

"You would have gotten laid!" She exclaimed. "And not only that! By a millionaire!"

"He would have probably ran for the hills once I told him."

"That's why you don't say anything." Regina interjected. "Have I not taught you anything?"

"But you said-" The atmosphere changed around us, and I watched as Regina closed down his tap to go back to the hiring site.

"Do you want a job?" Regina reminded me, handing me the computer.

"Yes but-"

"And am I showing you something that can give you a job?"

"Yes but-" I tried to continue.

"Then you need to sign up for an interview no more buts." She hands me the computer. "Fill out this application."

"Alright." She was a bit demanding but this was for the right reason, I was being unreasonable.

Filling out the application while she watched me with a tea cup in her hand- her fingers tapping against the cup.

My hand lingers on the send button. "And send." She presses my finger down for me and I take a deep breath before thanking her.

Now I have to wait to see if I get accepted...

"While don't we have breakfast?" Regina offered and if she didn't notice the crust building up on the outskirt of my eyes she had another thing coming.

"I'm going back to bed." I told her, standing up to head to my room.

"You don't want pancakes?"

My body stiffened...

"What flavor?"

"Blueberry." Sleep or Pancakes.. my mind was trying to make up its mind.

"Go get the pan." We both raced around the kitchen to make breakfast together.

•• 3 days later••

"EMBRE WAKE UP!" The sound of my bed springs were making themselves known at this moment as she bounced on bed.

"WHAT IS THE APARTMENT ON FIRE!" I sat up, my eyes still closed. The unbearable sun was hitting my eyelids.

Really? That was my first conclusion.

"No, you got the interview you need to wake up!"

"I got the interview?" Forgetting the sun, my eyes sprung open, seeing Regina standing on my bed like it was normal.

"Yes you need to get up it's eight o'clock and your interview is at nine thirty."

"How do you know that?" I sighed, scratching in my hair.

"I sort of went through your emails. But that's not the point you need to start getting ready." She tried to not make eye contact with me I knew she felt kind of guilty. But I didn't mind it.. no one emailed me anyway expect my phone bill, and Jumba Juice.

Almost forgetting the interview and going back to bed I got up and half jogged to my bathroom. I needed to take a quick shower first.

I didn't have to worry about my hair as I took off my bonnet, watching my straight hair fall around me. Taking a comb, I combed it out to make it look back decent instead of a hay stack.

By time I'm done it was 8:35.

Walking back into my bedroom and I already see an outfit put together on my bed. "Thank you Regina!" I called out to her to thank her, she already knew I was going to ask her for help.

Seeing that I had a white undershirt and white long sleeved blouse, I grabbed my white undergarment set to match. At least I knew when putting on my clothes I had some type of stability, because the rest of my world felt like it was crashing down. And to match my white blouse, Regina matched it with a pink pencil skirt and my white 3 inch heels.

Trying to search for jewelry, I looked up at my desk mirror to see my face.. I looked dead. "Shit!"

Making my way back into the bathroom for what felt like the fifth time today, I applied foundation, and mascara not really caring about the rest, knowing I needed to be on time.

After successfully walking into the living room with my handbag. I smile at Regina as she looked up. "Do I look okay?"

"Tuck in your shirt." She got up from the couch and I looked down to see that I probably looked like grandma with my shirt just hanging. Setting my handbag on the edge of the couch, I followed her direction.

"Okay I'm ready."

"Here." She tossed me her car keys.

"Thanks?" I have my own car but then again I didn't have a GPS already installed I could have just used my phone.

Grabbing my hand bag and giving Regina a hug, I walked out of the apartment; locking it up.

Stepping into the elevator I made a silent prayer. Hopefully this isn't the same man two weeks ago... and if it is and I'm okay with that too.
