《Little Love》8. First Day

I held my phone tightly in my hands as I waited for the rest of the boys to pile into the car. It was their first day back, and despite many of them only having classes later, they wanted to catch up with their friends. I, on the other hand, had no idea what I was supposed to expect, and was just praying that I didn't embarrass myself too badly.

I looked down at my phone, where my schedual was saved as the lockscreen - I always did that for the first week, as I hated the awkwardness of having to search through my bag to grab it. I had psychology first, with Mr. Daniels, in room A13.

"Alex," I called out to my brother as soon as he sat in the car. He hummed at me, rifling around in his bag.

"Where's room A13?" He shrugged, pulling out his phone ad putting it on charge.

"Other side of campus from where I'm supposed to be." I pouted slightly at him.

"Could you walk me over there? I don't want to be late for my first class!" He shook his head.

"Nah, but Greyson might. I think he take psychology, so he'd be in that building with you." Greyson and Kaiden finally got into the car, with Greyson next to Alex up front, and Kaiden with me in the back. Alex pulled out and started speeding away.

"Aren't any of the guys coming with us?" Kaiden shook his head.

"They're taking their own car, or might get picked up by someone else." I leant back, picking up my legs and crossing them on the seat. Today, I had worn a light blue skirt, with a cropped jumper that had a cute twist in the middle. I decided that my white converse and white backpack worked well, and I had hung my lucky necklace around my neck, just in case.

The car was quiet, so I started fiddling with the ear cuff I had put in this morning. I had never actually gotten my ears pierced because I was too afraid of needles, but had always wanted to. One of my friends bought me fake ones instead though, and so it worked well.

"Greyson, mind walking with Love? I think she's in the building as you, but might lose her way." I blushed when my brother asked for me. Sometimes, he treated me too much like a child, to the point of sheer embarressment. It was probably a good thing though, as I probably wouldn't have asked myself.

"Sure." Came his short reply. I blushed even further at the sound of his voice.

We pulled straight into a car parking space in the closest spot to the campus, and got out.

"Where are we meeting for lunch?" Kaiden asked, pulling on his backpack.

"Just the cafe? We can always go from there." I looked at the ground, unsure of whether I was included in this or not. I didn't want to make asumptions, but I also knew that if I wasn't meant to stay with them, I would be on my own.

"What classes do you have this morning, Love?" Kaiden asked. I looked up.

"Psychololgy and then art." He nodded.

"What time does art finish?" I opened my phone.

"12:30."

"Oh sweet, mine ends five minutes earlier than yours! I can meet you outside your class, then take you to the cafe, so you don't get lost. We all know how your sense of direction works." I smiled at my brother, happy that I had a place to go at lunch.

"Well, I finish at 12, so I'll meet you guys there, then." Kaiden cut in, then began walking away. Alex looked at me, grinning.

"You're gonna have such a great time, Love. Just don't forget, if you ever need anything, give anyone of us a call, and we'll pick up as soon as we can, 'Kay?" I nodded.

"I'll see you later!" He reached over and messed up my hair, chuckling as I scowled, before running off to join a group of boys who were walking past. I turned to look at Greyson, who was starting to walk away.

"What class are you in?"

"A13," I mumbled. He rose an eyebrow.

"Guess you're with me, then. Mr. Daniels will like you." I furrowed my brows.

"You're small, quiet, and won't make any drama for him." I didn't really have anything to say to that. Mr. Daniels wasn't sounding too good.

We walked through the middle of campus, and he pointed over to a building on the left as we passed by.

"That's where your art class will be next. I'll walk you there though." I nodded.

"Thank you," I mumbled. Did he have art classes after too? I mean, of course he did, otherwise he wouldn't be walking with me. We stepped up the stairs to the building with a huge archway with the word animo carved into it with swirling shapes and patterns. Once we got inside, it was all furnished with dark oak wood and red velvet curtains, draping down from tall windows. It seemed to be such a difference from what I had imagined in my mind. We walked up a flight of stairs to get to our room, and once we got inside, most people were already there.

"Mr. Daniels hates it when anyone's late. Watch him chew some new kid out for it. It's kinda funny." Another wave of gratitude flooded me as I thought of myself not being that kid.

I would probably die of embarressment.

Greyson walked up to the room, up the stairs to the top, where fewer people were sat. I followed him cautiously, wondering whether he would be okay with me sitting by him. Otherwise, I would be sitting on my own, and I hated the very thought of that.

I pulled out my laptop just as the teacher walked in with an abnormally large thermos of coffee. He slammed it down on him desk, drawing everyone's attention to him - not that he didn't have it already - and looked at us, scowling.

"I would rather be anywhere but here right now, so let me make this clear: If you are someone who likes to cause trouble, I suggest you leave now. I have no tolerance for people who enjoy wasting my time. The same concept applies for those who are not planning on studying, or taking my course seriously. If you do not aim to achieve full marks, then I frankly couldn't care less about why you're here, and would rather you left. I will tell you what to learn, you will note it down, and then you will learn in. At the end of the course, you will take a test which will be 50% of your marks. During the year, you will do the coursework, which will be another 50% of your marks. If you miss a class, skip a test, don't write the correct notes, annoy me, I will take down your credit. Understood?" The room was silent after his over-dramatic speech. He glared for a few seconds, before giving us a sharp nod.

"Good. Let's get started then." I sighed.
