《Little Love》1. Coming Home

My foot tapped on the ground as I waited for my brother to pick me up. It had been far too long since I had last heard from him, and I was worried that he wouldn't be the same, wouldn't care enough to go back to the way things used to be. After all, it had been five years since I had last seen him.

I looked around the airport nervously - it was my first time flying, and I wasn't a big fan of crowds. People easily shoved me aside and my talent of getting lost always seemed to make an appearance whenever I got distracted.

"Amoret! Amoret!" I knocked my headphones off my head so they rested on my shoulder and focused on the blonde haired boy running towards me from across the airport - my brother. Thank God he looked like the male equivalent of me, otherwise I would've started running in the other direction - he had definitely grown since I had last seen him.

"Alex!" I squealed, jumping up from the water fountain and sprinting over to him, jumping into him when he finally reached me. He hugged me tight, picking me up and spinning me around.

"I missed you so much, Little Love!" I giggled as he put me down, holding onto my arms to stop me from falling over.

"I missed you too, Alex! I literally can't wait to stay with you! England was far too boring without you there." We began walking back to where my suitcase was still sitting. Thankfully no one had grabbed it yet.

"Well, you're gonna' love America like you wouldn't believe! I can't wait to introduce you to all my friends - they're gonna' love you... maybe too much actually. In fact, I'm not gonna' do that." I blushed and laughed.

"Stop it, you know I'm going to have to talk to a boy one day." He scowled and glared at the floor.

"Not if I'm there you won't." I pulled up the handle bar of my suitcase and he began leading me out of the airport, grabbing my arm to keep me out of the way of the crowds. I looked up at him.

"How have you grown so much? You're almost twice my height!" He laughed at me.

"Not my fault you're a gremlin." He grinned. I hit his arm.

"Not my fault you're a giant! How tall even are you?"

"Six foot." I looked at him.

"And that means..." He looked at me, before realisation hit him.

"Oh, I don't know in metres. I can look it up later if you want. How tall are you?"

"One metre sixty." He looked at me again.

"We can search that up later too."

"And what's with the accent? You're all like I'm from America and I eat cheeseburgers y'all!"He burst out into laughter at my awful impression.

"When you live in a foreign place long enough, Love, you tend to pick up the accent."

"But still... it's funny." He nudged my shoulder.

"Whatever you say, just please talk like that to the boys when we get home."

We made our way through the busy airport and past all the shops (where I bought far too many American sweets, despite Alex stating that there was a shop a few minutes away from the house where I could get it far cheaper) until we finally got to his car.

"Range Rover?" He laughed as he threw my stuff in the boot.

"Yup. Present from mom."

"Oh..." Safe to say I was never going to afford it then. He sighed, closed the boot and wrapped his arms tight around me. I pressed my face against his chest, still not over how tall he was.

"You know what mom's like. Give her some time and I'm pretty sure you two will be back to normal."

"Only if I become more successful than what she thought I'd be." I could smell his cologne - after all these years, he still used the same one, just thankfully far less of it.

"Maybe, but that won't be too long. A few years at most? Plus it was only father who didn't like it, not mom. You never know, you two were like best friends." I sighed and pulled away, walking over to the car door and climbing in. He sat down, switched on the engine and pulled out.

"The drive is about an hour or so, so feel free to rest if you want." I hummed in response and curled my feet up, already having tucked the seatbelt behind me.

"Have you eaten yet?"

"Just airplane food. But I bought some sweets."

"That's not enough, Love, despite what you and your sweet tooth may think. We can either stop by a McDonalds or something on the way back, or we can eat early at home."

"Eat early - I'm not too hungry right now, thank you."

"If you're sure." He reached out and turned on the radio, turning it down so it was background noise. I watched the cars drive past on the huge roads - we were literally on a road with four lanes! That's crazy.

I fell asleep sometime during the drive, and didn't wake up until we where at the house I'd be living in for the next few years. I yawned, stretching and jumping out of the car, making my way over to where Alex was. He lead me over to the front door, dramatically turning to me, hand on the door handle.

"Welcome to the madness." He pushed open the door, motioning for me to walk in first. I did so hesitantly, hearing shout from all sides of the house.

"How many boys live here again?"

"Eleven," He shut the door behind us. "Come on, I'll show you your room. I got someone to decorate it for you, but if you want, we can change it up."

I nervously followed after him, keeping my shoes on seeing him do the same, despite the massive shoe rack overflowing with shoes tumbling out. Voices echoed throughout the house, but I couldn't tell where they were coming from. Alex started talking again, and I focused on his voice as I took in my new home.

"So, some of the guys are out right now, so you'll probably meet them later at dinner. We usually eat together on Saturdays, unless we have something on, which is often to be fair. I'm not too sure if the boys know what you look like so... um..." I could see him blushing. "don't get too mad if... um..."

"If what?" He looked away.

"If someone asks who you're hooking up with." I scrunched my nose up.

"Ew, Alex, that's disgusting!"

"Just ignore them, Love. It's what we do, okay? If anyone says anything too... mean, come tell me who they are and I'll sort them out for you, 'Kay?" I nodded. The house was tidier than I thought it would be, considering the amount of people living here, with only the occasional thing shoved to the side of the hall, or on the edge of a stair. We stopped in front of a white door in a hall full of doors, each with a different colour.

"Your favourite colour's still white, right?" I grinned, happy that he still remembered.

"Yup." He returned my grin with a smile.

"Here's your room, then. I'll come find you for dinner, we'll probably get takeout tonight, so it shouldn't be too long. Feel free to unpack, or explore I guess. I'll probably be in the games room with the others. 'Kay?"

"'Kay."

"I'll leave you to it." He wrapped his arms around me again and I hugged him tightly.

"I'm glad you're here. I really did miss you, Little Love." I felt tears well up.

"I'm glad too. Things weren't the best without you."

"I know. Father wasn't too bad, was he?" I hugged him even tighter, not answering his question. The silence answered it better than I could when he tensed up.

"I'm here now, and things will be better."

"Yeah." I sighed, before pulling away, forcing myself to smile again.

"Anyways, I've got to unpack. I'll see you at dinner." He gave me a soft smile back.

"Yeah." He turned and walked away and I stepped into the room.

It was beautiful, with a huge bed and matching furniture, and even a window seat. I shut the door behind me and took off my shoes, padding across the soft carpet to where a white speaker sat, plugging it into my phone and playing Conan Gray, before making my way over to the boxes and opening the first one.

Things would get better. They had to.
