《Primrose》Chapter 19

"Thank you, Heath, it was lovely to have you here helping me," May thanks Heath. We both finished with May's centerpieces half an hour ago and are now finishing up the final touches. "Please, stay over for dinner? It would be the least I could do for your help,"

Please no. He's been torturing me ever since he got here. And after that heated makeout session, I can't seem to think right whenever Heath is around me. Heath turns to face me with a grin on his face. "I would love to. Thank you May," He answers while looking straight at me.

"Uhmm, no maybe Heath's parents are expecting him home?" I really don't want him here. Things will just get awkward.

"No, my parents are fine without me. They could honestly care less," Heath says smirking at me. Oh, how I could just wipe that smirk right off his face.

"Great!" May says happily. "I'll go get dinner started, can you two close up the place for me?"

"I thought you hated me closing up?" I ask her. I really don't want to end up closing the shop with Heath. He'll find a way to do something not great.

"You begged me once to close it up, remember. Now I'm giving you the chance so you better not let it go to waste. Plus, Heath is here with you, nothing can go wrong," May gives me a wink and heads out of the shop. "Have fun you two,"

I groan in annoyance. Can this night get any worse? "So, where do I start?" I hear Heath's stupid annoying voice from behind me. I turn around and am met with a chest right in front of my face. Okay, he is definitely a lot closer than I imagined.

"Just turn off all the lights and lock the back doors," I say and move away from him. Just like I told him, Heath comes out a few minutes later. The shop is dark but the street lights outside make it somewhat easier for us to see. "Ready?" I ask him. He nods his head and waits for me to head out of the shop first before he closes the front door and locks it. "Let's go,"

That was better than I had expected. Heath didn't try anything sneaky, that's good. "Prim, stay close to me," Heath whispers against my ear.

I look up at him. "Why?" I ask, feeling slightly alarmed. Normally when I walk home before May, it would feel like a safe neighborhood. But something about this night seems a bit off.

"Just stay close to me and don't look to your left," Heath says, a serious tone lacing his voice. I just nod my head in response.

We closed up a little bit later than usual today. May told us that it was our mission to finish all the centerpieces for the wedding. So instead of normally closing around 9 pm, we closed at 10:30. As we near to turn a corner, I feel Heath's hand reaching for mine. I let it grab hold of my small hand in his as we turn the corner and continue walking. That's when I noticed a group of guys hanging around outside of a local bar. They're probably drunk as they laugh and yell. Heath and I walk on the sidewalk, him being on the outside.

"Hey, pretty lady! Is that your boyfriend?" One of them yells and the others start laughing. Heath's hand tightens its hold on my own.

"Why don't you come here for a second. We just wanna talk!" Another one says. I feel my heart rate quicken as we pass them. I feel their eyes follow our every move.

Once I see my house in view, I let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness Heath was here. I know I said that I wanted him to go away, but now I feel safer when he's with me. I don't know why but whenever I'm out in the dark walking, I just automatically feel much safer when a guy I know is with me. Whether they're big and buff or tall and skinny.

We both enter the house where the delicious smell of May's cooking fills the air. "We're home," I call out.

"Why don't you guys take a shower before I finish? I'll call you once dinner is ready," May says. I nod my head and head up the stairs into my room.

"You can use the shower after I'm finished," I say.

"Fine by me," He says.

After a nice shower, I plop down on my bed, waiting for May to finish with her shower. "I need a towel," He turns around to ask. I go to a random closet storage room and grab a towel and toss it to him. "Thanks," He says and heads off.

The door opens a few seconds later, but not all the way. Heath's head pokes out of the bathroom. "I need a change of clothes," He says. I set my phone down and get off the bed. I think Clyde should have something for him, right?

I head into the master bedroom and look for a pair of sweats for Heath to wear. I grab a pair of black sweatpants and a long-sleeved grey shirt before leaving the room. I head back to my room and toss the clothes to him. He mumbles a quick 'thanks' before closing the bathroom door.

The bathroom door opens again a few minutes later and Heath comes out of it. The familiar smell of strawberry shampoo fills my nose. "Did you use my shampoo?" I ask him.

"What? It smells good," He defends. "And here," He says and tosses the towel which lands directly on top of my head.

"Thank you for tossing your dirty towel onto my clean and washed head," I say. I grab the towel off from my head and throw it into the laundry basket.

There's a knock on the door to my room. "Come in," I call to the person on the other side.

May enters the room. "Hi, dinner is ready," She tells us. We all make our way to the dining room table. We take a seat, sadly Heath decides to sit next to me. "We have spaghetti and meatballs tonight with some garlic bread,"

"Thank you for dinner," I thank May.

"So Heath, I heard that you're helping Prim with her gym workouts?" May asks starting a conversation.

"Yeah. And she's been a real pain in the ass about it," Heath says.

"We don't swear at the table Heath," I tell him.

"That's okay. So how long have you two known each other for?" May asks another question.

"About a month now."

"Oh really? How'd you two meet?" Clyde chimes in this time. He's normally never one to start a conversation, he's usually the quiet observer.

"Well Jed, Prim's best friend, decided to bring her to an undegro--- ow," I nudge him on the side and give him a side glare, signaling for him to shut up.

"What he means was that Jed brought me to the gym and Heath happened to be there. So I wanted to start getting into shape, you know, and yeah," I respond for him.

We finished dinner with a nice conversation. Clyde and May had been questioning Heath the whole entire time. And whenever he would accidentally mention boxing to them, I would nudge his side or step on his foot. Didn't I already tell him not to mention boxing to them?

So when they had asked what Heath does for a living, he had to make up an excuse. Obviously, he does boxing for a living and I don't think both Clyde and Heath would be too keen on me hanging with a guy who is capable of breaking my nose.

Heath told them that he was a personal trainer and stuff. I guess that's not entirely a lie. He does train me, well in boxing.

"It was so nice to have you here with us, Heath. Definitely come visit again soon," Clyde says. Heath was heading out now and I kind of felt a bit sad. I hate to admit it but I actually had fun with Heath tonight. Well, tomorrow I'll see him again anyway for my training.

After I bid goodnight to May and Clyde, I head back upstairs to my room. My phone dings with a notification.

I know what you're thinking. Why am I doing this? Well, I guess it was fun having Heath around that I actually miss his presence.

Did I just totally invite Heath to come back to my place? Yes. Was I excited about this? Yes. Was I nervous? 100 percent.
