"Maybe someday, we will both be two people meeting for the very first time."

-Maddie-

" know you from somewhere?" He asks, politely. "Ren. Don't you remember me?" Confusion was written all over his face. "No..." He trails off, a confused expression plastered all over his face. His nose was scrunched up.

I felt my heart throb at that word.

He doesn't remember...

"Are you alright?" He asks, worried. "Ah, yes. Of course." I mutter. "Sorry, I must have mistaken you for someone else.." I began to walk away. But he is Ren! He must remember. He promised me. Promises aren't meant to be broken.

"Wait..." He exclaims. I turn around. "Can I make it up to you?" He asks. His cheeks kind of tinted pink. The same way he used to when he is embarrassed. My heart twists in pain as I stare at his face, studying his features.

He still is still as handsome as I remembered. If not, probably even more if that was possible. His eyes still slightly shuts whenever he smiles genuinely. He was still the same guy I remembered him as. Still as kind and as nice.

I snap out of my trance when he hands me four movie coupons. "Here." I hesitantly tear my gaze away from his face to look at the coupons placed in my hand. "You can watch a movie of your choice for free." He adds, scratching the nape of his neck.

"Thanks." Silence fills the space between us. Ren shuffles uncomfortably as he looks everywhere but at me. I released a sigh. He really doesn't remember, huh? I felt my stomach churn, as I look away. So as not to make the situation more awkward, I bow politely and left. "Excuse me.."

"Where's your drink?" Leah asks me as soon as I arrive. I completely forgot about that. "Oh, it kinda spilled...." I mumble sheepishly, telling them the half truth. I didn't want them to find out just yet. "That sucks..." Valery says. Capella just stares at me quietly observing my every move. She must've sensed something. I gulp nervously. She narrows her eyes into slits and opened her mouth to say something.

Luckily, the other two did not have a clue. "I have an extra!" Leah cuts in before Capella could say anything else. She gives me a frappe as I gratefully thank her. Capella decides to shrug it off and move on.

Then before you know it, Leah and Capella started to debate about how unicorns are and aren't real. My mind, for some strange reason, drifts to Ren.

Did he really forget about me? I ask myself. Although the answer seems clear, I couldn't help but have a tiny ray of hope. Maybe he was just too shocked to think straight. Maybe it was just the spur of the moment.

Then, I remember his confused face. 'No....' 'I don't remember..' I shake my head. No, Ren promised me he wouldn't forget me. He promised. Once you promised someone something, you can't break that right? Suddenly, I feel my phone vibrate.

Shawn: Yo where you at?

I type my response quickly.

Maddie: at Starbars

My phone vibrates again.

Shawn: seriously? You still there?

Maddie: yeah why:3

I see Shawn type something down. I turn off my phone and placed my attention back to the girls. "That is why unicorns aren't real." Capella states, in a matter of factly tone. "Did I miss anything?" I ask, putting my phone on my lap. I eye my two friends. "Not that much...." Valery says, propping her hand on the desk. "But unicorns are real!" I hear Leah argue. "Here we go again.." Valery mutters, staring at the two.

My phone vibrates once more.

Shawn: the guests will be coming over soon. Drag your butt back here, shortie.

My eyes widen. "Oh shoot." I mutter. I immediately stand up, frantically searching for my purse. "Sorry guys, I have to go!" "O-oh okay..." Capella says. We say our goodbyes, quickly waving at each other.

I bolted out of the cafe like a crazed woman. I was literally like those characters you'd see in crossy road, dodging cars and trucks....and death. Cars were beeping around me as I ran to the room like naruto.

And that's how I arrived at the meeting room looking extremely haggard. I look around and see Shawn sitting on a chair in the corner. He was texting on his phone or probably playing online games or something. When he sees me, he stops what he is doing.

He smiles as he pats the seat next to him. I sit down, quietly sipping my frappe.

It's a good thing I wore something kind of formal. I thought to myself. "When are they coming?" I ask, eyes darting across the room. "Will they be arriving late?" He lets out a laugh.

"No, they'll be arriving this evening."

Wait what?? I smack his head. I nearly got hit by a car! "Oww..." He groans, rubbing his head. "What was that for?" "That was for making me run all the way here." I huff, silently cursing him for eternity. "I nearly got hit by a car."

He grins. "Well you do need to exercise." He says, tapping his chin. He lets out a snarky laugh, making him look like some cult master that gained a new follower. Not that I've ever encountered that though.

"Hey, I think you need it more than I do." I say, defensively. We both laugh.

"So who are they?" I ask him, swirling the remains of the drink. "What do you mean?" He questions, looking squarely at me. "You know, the people that are coming over." I say, in a duh tone. "Oh the ACE— a joint company." He replies, finally grasping my question.

"Who are the people representing?" I question once more, taking a sip from my almost empty frappe. He thinks hard, looking like he was so deep in his thoughts. He snaps his fingers and darts his attention at me.

"Ren Mattings and Amy Sanders."

I choked on my frappe. "What?"
