REYNA

When I didn't comply, Saint flipped me over with ease. My stomach made contact with the cool glass as his hands wandered down my sides, leaving goosebumps on its trail.

"I need you to find me some answers." His lips made contact with the middle of my back.

"Once you do, I'll reward your sweet little pussy with a kiss, no?" he chuckled. "Or should I just do it now?"

I shivered against him at the sound of his words. There was a pulsating need deep in-between my legs. He had to be aware of the things he did to me without trying at all.

Abruptly, his phone began to ring. He didn't pull away as he yanked it from his pocket and held it up to his ear. I craned my neck to look at him, but he pushed my head flat against the glass.

"No, just wait until I get there," Saint said sternly.

He didn't waste another minute before hanging up the phone and throwing it across the room. I flinched as the sound of broken glass quickly penetrated my eardrums.

Saint pulled away from me, allowing me to slide off the bar table. Holding my breasts with my arm, I bent down and grabbed Saint's suit jacket, and threw it over my body before buttoning it up. It was large and made sure to swallow my figure. Sadly, the top part of the jacket did nothing to conceal the valley of my breasts.

"Is everything okay?" I asked warily, folding my arms across my chest.

"Don't think that what happens between us means anything. It doesn't," he snarled.

"What makes you think I want anything to do with you?" I mumbled. I wasn't sure if he heard me or not, because if he had, he didn't bother to comment on it.

"I need answers as soon as possible. Giovanni is gone, we still don't know where Viktor is, or where Adriano's ex-wife is. Not to mention, Adriano may be a traitor. I need something. Do your job or the deal's off," he threatened.

Rolling my shoulders back, I looked him square in eye. "I'll do my best to find what I can. I was already thinking of recovering those messages from the ball. I was even going to get a real name on Adriano's ex-wife. I've been getting close to figuring out her true identity over these past few days. However, holding my mother over my head will not get you what you want any faster."

"No?" he challenged, taking a step toward me. "What about your death?"

He seemed to know just how to push me down when I was beginning to learn how to stand. Every bit of confidence vanished in the snap of my fingers. I was like worth before it was pushed away by emptiness. Because of him, I became the frightened instead of the fearless.

"I'm going to bed," I murmured, walking toward the door.

Just before I could reach it, he grabbed me by the collar of his jacket. I was too weak to get out of his hold as he pulled me into his chest.

"Don't I get a goodnight kiss first?" he questioned. I glanced at him. This had to be some sick joke.

My brows came together when I saw no indication that he was playing.

"You threatened to kill me," I reminded him.

"That shouldn't surprise you. I've threatened your life from the very first day that I met you. That didn't stop you from dry humping me a few minutes ago, now did it?" he challenged.

He was right. Foolishly, I figured that by doing what he asked, gaining his trust, and helping him with everything he needed—my life would be spared. However, the harsh reality was that he never promised me life after I finished helping him. He only said he would find my mother.

I never once wanted to be the girl I always read about. The one that allowed their wisdom to be overpowered by the boy because he had good looks and a sexy smile. By underestimating his capabilities and cruel nature, I was becoming that girl.

If this were a game of chess, he'd call checkmate. But I wanted a rematch. Only this time, I'd play with my intellect and neither my desires nor fear. Only then will I be able to hold all of his pieces as I declared with a smirk, I win.

"I'm going to bed," I repeated. I tried to pull myself away from his grasp, but his strength easily overpowered my own.

"No, you aren't. You're going to go recover those messages from the ball and get me a real name on Adriano's wife. I need something as soon as possible," Saint said.

I could almost catch the desperation in his voice. There was a reason he was in such a hurry.

"You want me to prove Adriano's innocence because deep down a part of you wants to believe him. You grew up together. You don't want to hurt him, do you?" I asked quietly. I turned in his arms to gaze at his face, noticing that not a single bit of emotion leaked onto his features. If anything, my words only made him colder.

"If you truly think about it, this was too easy. He's very calculated and wise. If he did do anything to Giovanni, I'm almost sure he wouldn't fall asleep," I told him.

"Unless that's exactly what he wants you to think," he responded.

I sighed. That could be true.

Saint finally released me from his hold. I quickly hugged myself as I watched him.

"Find me something, Angel," he said.

Saint picked up his button-up shirt and placed it over his body. I had to turn away from him so I wouldn't steal a glance of his heavenly defined muscles.

"How do I contact you in case of emergencies, or if I find something important?" I asked.

"I'm leaving you with a few of my soldiers. If you need to tell me anything, they'll know how to get ahold of me," he informed me.

"Are you sure I can be left alone with them?" I raised a brow. Rubbing my sweaty palms up and down the fabric of the suit jacket, I could feel my nerves skyrocketing. "I don't want to disappear."

"You're a strong girl. You'll be fine." Saint chuckled sarcastically.

He took a step closer to me before slipping something out of his pocket. It was a burner phone. Saint grabbed my hand and opened my palm, placing the phone in my grasp.

"I'll be back in a couple of hours," he said. His eyes fell to my lips as he took another step closer to me.

I nodded my head slowly. "And I won't sleep until I help you find Giovanni."

My heart immediately sank at the loss of Giovanni. I really hoped he wasn't hurt. In the short time that I had known him, he was the only person who showed me kindness. He made me feel confident when I was drowning in insecurities. Deep down, I knew that if the roles were switched, he'd do everything he could to search for me. No matter what, I would find him.

Saint looked at me for a bit as if he were reading me like his favorite book. He was skimming through the words, flying through his imagination as he visualized every sentence. However, the book must've not had the ending he wanted because he didn't say a thing as he walked out of the room, leaving me there open and all alone.
