"Emerald," said a soft and clear voice.
I didn't remember anything. But I knew what I felt. And I felt free, absolutely free. I didn't feel pain, I didn't feel guilt whatsoever. I felt... alive. I don't remember the last I felt like this, if ever.
I heard my name continuing to be repeated. By the same soft and angelic voice. It reminded me of my mother and thought of her brought a mental smile. She yearned for the voice of her mom, her gentle touch, her angelic like laugh. Everything.
"Emerald," said the voice again.
"Mom?" she asked groggily but hopefully.
Opening my eyes, I was met by a bright light outlining a figure of a woman. The figure looked a lot like my mom but the more I adjusted to the sudden setting, the more I realized it wasn't her. This woman was flawless. Long luxurious hair, golden tan like skin, face that bore no wrinkles, acne, dark spots- nothing. She was gorgeous. I grew confused as to who she was, where I was, why I was here.
"Ah so many questions I presume," she starts. I looked at her kind of shocked, wondering how she could possibly know the countless questions she knew I had. "I can only imagine that your mind is reeling, and the fact that I know what you are thinking also plays a benefactor."
"You... What are you?"
"I'm like you. I'm a witch."
Maybe it was the reason of being locked away for nine years that I forgot that I was in fact a witch. Or the fact that I had never physically used my power before. Either way, I was more shocked at the revelation of her telling me that I am, in fact, a witch and that she was as well. I wasn't aware that being a witch came with reading people's thoughts- I thought other supernatural creatures acquired that.

"Well seeing how I am Αφροδίτη," she says, somewhat confusing me. "I am able to." It slowly began to make sense because Αφροδίτη sounded like Afrodíti- which was Greek for Venus. She was Venus. Why a woman of her status was visiting me, wherever the hell I was, was beyond me. I had never heard of anyone ever meeting and talking with her. "I will admit, you are one of the special ones- and one of the lucky. For anytime I visit someone, it is usually for more..." She let the sentence hang. "Well you can understand."
"So... I didn't do anything wrong?"
She looked shocked that I even asked. "Of course not my dear! Why on earth would you-"
"Well the poor girl didn't have much leeway with you saying you visit other people to basically kill them," inputted a voice.
"I never said kill!"
"It was implied Αφροδίτη."
"Oh hush Σελήνη," she rebutted. Again, it took my mind a minute to understand the Greek term. From what it sounded, she said Selíni. Which is, again, Greek for Luna. Luna...
"The Moon Goddess." I concluded.
Her figured appeared not long after I said her identity. And she was just as flawless as Venus, I could understand why people would believe they were related because they looked very similar-you'd think they're sisters.
"I'm impressed," Luna says, "She knows her Greek."
"Well her mother did teach her when she was younger."
I hadn't yet gotten used to the fact that I was in the presence of Luna and Venus, but it didn't stop me from being shocked at how Venus knew about my mother. About her teaching me Greek at least. But I decided not to question it because I figured they knew more than I thought they did.

"Where am I?" I question.
"You're in Amid," Venus said, which made me confused. "In between the decision of life or death."
Suddenly, the memory came reeling back. Talking with one of my brothers, to be being beaten. It wasn't the worse I had received but it was enough, I guess, to kill me.
"Am I... dead?"
"Physically yes," Luna answers, sitting next to me after I got out of my laid down stature. "Due to your injuries and never probably healing, you fell subject to them and died not too long ago."
I wanted to say that that made me upset. But it didn't. "So what am I doing here? Do I decide if I live or die?"
Venus and Luna look at each other. "Considering your life, we already know what it is you want..." starts Venus. "But your journey isn't over just yet."
I grew confused. "My journey?" I question. "I died by the hands and feet by my own flesh and blood. What journey is there left for me?"
"We can't tell you the specifics," Luna said. "That's not our job. You are to live through it. You have to live in order to understand what your calling is."
"My calling? What exactly is anyone's calling?"
"Mating, producing offspring-"
"So I'm supposed to do socially acceptable lifestyle of a she-wolf. Basically be subject to a man though I have done that for the past nine years." I didn't know where all this anger- rage- was coming from and why I was abusing it on them but I couldn't help it. Anything good in my life was ripped out of my life. And the moment I get to die, not my own hand but someone else's, I wasn't allowed to.
"It is more than that Emerald," Venus says gently. "Again, we cannot reveal that to you-"
"You won't follow the social norm of a she-wolf."
"Σελήνη!" Venus said, knowing she shouldn't have said anything.
"Oh hush, I made the rules, I can break them," answering her. She turned back to me, "You are very important to me- to Venus and I. You will not follow the social norm, not saying that you won't have that life but for a long time that is not the meaning of your life. You will experience a lot in your lifetime, some that will make or break you."
I looked at her, looking over her features. "I will be back here- in Amid- again."
She sighed. "Yes."
"Why?" I question.
"I won't reveal that. But when that moment comes, you will decide if you choose to live or die. That option is up to you at that point. Now, it is not."
I nod my head, not liking it but I understood. "Can I see my parents?" I question hopefully.
Luna got up and stood next to Venus, both looking at me. "Not yet," they answer simultaneously.
I sigh. "So now what?"
"Now," Venus starts.
"You wake up."
