《Alpha Dylan》Chapter 46 | Did I Say That Out Loud?

"I have never been so excited!" squealed Gia, engulfing me in a solid hug, wrapping her arms around my waist a little too tightly.

"Are you really ready to let our old pack go, Gia? I'm worried that I'm forcing a decision onto everyone," I questioned, chewing on my nails anxiously.

Gia widened her eyes at me, shaking her head. "You're a Luna now, Clara! It's what you're supposed to do."

"I know, I think I'm just-"

"Clara!"

I turned my head to see Dean making his way over to me, his brows furrowed together, relief washing over his face once his dark eyes settled on me.

"Dylan's been looking everywhere for you. Everyone is ready for you," he said, nodding towards the large outhouse, causing me to intake a sharp breath.

"I'm so nervous."

"Like Dylan told you, it's just a ceremony to announce you as the Luna of the pack. It'll be quick. I promise," reassured Dean, holding his hand out for me to take, and after a few second of chewing on my bottom lip, I caved, slipping my hand into his as he led Gia and I towards the outhouse.

"You've got this," whispered Gia, beaming at me as we reached the door, Dean yanking it open quickly, revealing a large crowd of people, all chatting and laughing away, the combined noise making it hard to hear anything else.

"Dylan is up on the stage there waiting for you," said Dean, pushing past the crowd for me, giving me access to the steps.

I gazed at my mate as I clambered up onto the stage, feeling my heart start to palpitate as he took my hand, offering me a quick smile.

"Quiet, everyone!" he boomed using his Alpha tone, causing a shudder to wrack through me, my wolf instantly wanting to submit.

"As you all know, The Mystic Pride Pack and The Amber Moon Pack will be merging, meaning that the Amber Moon Pack will no longer exist. Amber Moon, your Beta Charles has decided it is in your best interest for me to take over as Alpha, since your Luna will be one of your own."

I smiled out at the crowd, feeling pride radiate through me, noticing my Father grinning up at me from below, waving at me, wiping a single tear that escaped from his eye.

"Ethan will remain the Beta, but Charles will become third in command."

I watched as Ethan and Charles both made their way onto the stage, standing next to us with the arms folded, looking overly intimidating.

"Welcome to the pack everyone. We look forward to having you as one of us!" announced Ethan, flashing a quick smile.

"Please show some respect to your Alpha Dylan Harris, and your Luna, Clara Mason!"

The crowd erupted into applause, a few bowing their heads in respect, and I scanned across the back, noticing how my old pack member Jen was stood grumpily, her shoulders hunched over as she glared at me. I smiled, clearing my throat, causing Dylan to look at me with furrowed brows.

"Are you okay?"

"I just wanted to say something," I said, taking a step forward, waiting until the crowd had settled down, all of their eyes trained on me, boring into my soul.

"I never thought I would be standing up here being told I was going to become a Luna. It's just not something I ever expected, but I can promise you all that I will do my very best to lead this pack. I will put you all first, because that's what a good Luna should do, and if anyone needs anything, please don't be afraid to ask me."

Dylan squeezed my hand besides me, planting a quick kiss on the top of my head as the crowd applauded once again.

"That's all for today. The fighters will be around and will show you all to your assigned houses. Just let them know your name and they'll point you in the right direction," called Dylan, gesturing towards the large crowd.

As the crowd slowly started to make their way out of the grand outhouse, we descended the stairs and I laughed as my Dad wrapped his arms around me.

"I'm so proud of you," he whispered into my ear, rubbing my back up and down soothingly.

"Awesome speech, Clara."

I gasped, spinning around to see Matthew leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, a smirk plastered onto his face.

"Matthew!" I gasped. "How are you doing?"

He nodded, making his way over to me. "I'm okay. Some things are still hard to piece together, but it's all coming back slowly."

"I'm relieved you're feeling better, man," spoke Dylan, shaking Matthew's hand, causing him to laugh.

"Thanks man, but I'm sorry to say I still don't know who the hell you are."

Dylan chuckled, shaking his head.

"Well, let's get this after party started. We need to celebrate!" shouted Gia, grabbing my hand and yanking me out of the outhouse.

"Someone's keen," teased Dean, causing Gia to shrug.

"Obviously! It's an excuse to get drunk!"

We rounded the corner, and I shivered as the harsh wind wafted through the air, dancing across my skin, causing goosebumps to appear.

I laughed as we approached Dylan's home, eyeing up the balloons that were taped to the front door, colourful streamers hung up on the windows.

"What is this?!" I squealed as Gia pulled us inside. I gazed up at the bright decorations, twirling around to see the long table of booze and food in the corner of the room.

"Party time!" yelled Jared as he wheeled out from around the corner, dimming the lights and filling the air with thumping dance music.

Dancing to the beat, I gulped down a cup of alcohol that was passed to me, laughing as everyone else joined in, mingling around, more people eventually arriving.

"You're going to be the coolest Luna ever!" giggled Gia, passing me a shot of tequila, watching me as I struggled to swallow the burning liquid.

"Why am I getting deja-vu?"

I felt a pair of rough hands on my waist, and I spun around to see Dylan gazing down at me, a smirk playing at his lips.

"I'll try not to vomit this time," I said, rolling my eyes, feeling a wave of embarrassment come over me at the thought of Dylan and I's first meeting.

"I love you," he murmured, pulling me towards his chest possessively, a low grumble coming from it, causing my wolf to relax.

"I love you too."

"You guys can fuck later. Right now, we're taking shots!"

I snickered as I shook my head at my brother, watching him drown his sorrows as he took multiple shots with Gia, wiping at his mouth as he gagged.

I knew that him and Amelia hadn't spoken since they had their argument, but Jared seemed to be doing better. It was as if something had clicked in his brain, and he had finally realised his worth.

I was glad, because he deserved the world, and he was trying to figure out whether Amelia could give him that or not.

"I'm just going to go speak to Ethan and Charles," said Dylan, excusing himself, kissing my cheek quickly.

I looked around the room, squeezing past a few people, grinning at them as they congratulated me. Eventually, my eyes settled on a solemn looking Dean, leaning against the wall with one foot up against it.

"You okay?" I asked, copying his actions, sighing heavily, feeling the effects of the alcohol starting to kick him, my head becoming slightly fuzzy.

"Yeah, are you?"

I narrowed my eyes at Dean, cocking my head. "Um, yeah I'm okay. Why aren't you joining in? Are you not feeling it today?"

Dean shrugged. "I thought I'd just let you all get on with it. I know Jared probably can't have much fun with me around. I'm a walking reminder that his mate cheated on him."

I ran my hands through my chocolate brown hair, biting my lip. "He seems okay. I think he's doing better. Have you guys not spoken about it?"

"Nah, I'm not really one for apologies anymore."

I huffed, rolling my eyes, which caused Dean to laugh at me.

"But I'll apologise to him, if it'll make you happy," replied Dean, raising his eyebrows at me.

"Why do you have to do it for me? I want you to apologise if you want to, not because you think it's what will make you happy."

Dean cocked his head, as if thinking for a few seconds. "I'll speak to him by the end of the night, but he better not throw any punches."

"Like you don't deserve it?" I scoffed, shaking my head, a small smile creeping up onto my face.

"I kind of do, don't I?" he replied, chuckling.

"Thank you again for saving me from Alpha Paul," I blurted out, attempting to push the terrible memories away.

"You already thanked me. You don't need to do it again, Clara."

"I know, but you didn't really take it. I wouldn't be alive right now if it wasn't for you," I replied, turning to face Dean, sighing.

"I'm just sorry I couldn't get to you in time," he muttered, his eyes quickly flashing down to my belly before he corrected himself, his eyes meeting mine yet again.

I nodded, feeling the silent tears start to dribble down my cheeks, causing me to sigh heavily, frustrated that my emotions had got the best of me yet again.

"Hey, come here," sighed Dean, engulfing me into a hug, rubbing my back soothingly, attempting to calm me down.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, pulling away and wiping at my eyes, paranoid that my mascara was now half way down my face.

"Don't worry, you still look beautiful," said Dean, winking at me quickly, before nodding at his cousin as Dylan made his way over.

"I just said to-"

I gazed up at my mate as he stopped talking, his vision fixated on my tear stained cheeks, a growl immediately erupting from his chest.

"What happened?" questioned Dylan, shooting a glare at Dean before moving so he was in front of me, cupping my cheeks.

"He didn't do anything, Dylan," I said, patting my face dry. "We were just talking about things, and it brought everything back up. It's fine."

"Relax, Dyl. She's fine," assured Dean, patting Dylan's shoulder.

"I think I just need some fresh air," I said, fanning my face and making my way towards the front door, Dylan and Dean following closely behind. However, just before I could open the door, it was sent swinging open, and I collided with someone, causing me to almost topple over.

"Shit, I'm sorry," I said, taking a few steps back, my brows furrowing as I realised it was a nervous looking Amelia standing in front of me, her long blonde hair plaited and sitting over one shoulder, making her look child-like and vulnerable.

"Amelia, you weren't invited tonight," growled Dylan, taking a step forwards, which made Amelia gulp.

"I know. I just came to see Jared. Is he here?"

I turned, peering through the crowd to see Jared laughing with Gia and Matthew, downing his drink successfully, causing the surrounding people to cheer.

He was finally enjoying himself, and I didn't want Amelia to mess it up for him.

"Can it not wait until tomorrow?" I asked, frowning. "It looks like Jared is pretty wasted right now."

Amelia sighed, shaking her head. "No, Clara, this can't wait. Let me see him."

I sighed, steeping aside reluctantly, watching as Amelia made her way past us, causing Dylan to take a step forward, seconds away from grabbing her and forcing her back out of the door, but he stopped himself.

Amelia had clearly come to her decision, and I knew that Jared needed this.

The crowd parted as Amelia pushed her way through, growling at people when they didn't move out of the way fast enough, but eventually she reached my brother, her gaze settling on him, which caused him to sigh to himself, tilting his head back.

"Jared, I really need to speak to you," Amelia said loudly over the music, which made Jared shrug, taking yet another shot, his eyes struggling to focus on his mate.

"Aren't you speaking?" he questioned rudely, rolling his eyes, causing me to furrow my brows, not used to seeing Jared's blunt behaviour.

Amelia clearly looked annoyed, and she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Please Jared, can we just go outside, so I can speak to you?"

"I'm having fun here though."

"Really? You're going to make me say this in front of everybody with them all watching? I wanted this to be a private conversation!"

At the sound of Amelia's loud voice, the majority of people stopped talking, turning to watch what all the commotion was about.

"If you have something to say, you can say it with everyone watching," stammered Jared, the words coming out sloppily, his arms now folded across his chest.

Amelia growled to herself, her cheeks turning red as she glared at the crowd that was now watching her. "Fine! I want you Jared, and this might be the most toxic relationship ever, but I don't care because I need to see if this is going to work out or not. I want to give us a chance."

Stunned, everyone remained silent, my eyes wide as I watched my brother's reaction, his head slightly cocked as he took in Amelia's confession.

"Well, that's funny, because you were probably right about us all along, Amelia. I don't know if I can do this with you. Maybe we aren't meant to be," replied Jared, swigging down yet another shot, shaking his head at his mate who stood frozen in front of him, her mouth hanging open in shock.
