《Alpha Dylan》Chapter 39 | Is This What Death Feels Like?

I glared up at my Alpha, clutching at my chest in frustration as I tried my hardest to fight his order to not shift, my wolf howling within me, clawing to get out.

Dean growled from behind me, kicking at one of the fighters that was holding him down, sending them flying across the clearing, landing in a mud pile with a loud thud, their limbs cracking, twisting in different directions.

"Shift back and I won't kill her right now!" ordered Alpha Paul, grabbing me and pulling me to him, his hand wrapping around my throat, squeezing a little too tightly, causing me to splutter, my eyes watering.

"You're not his Alpha!" I growled up at my Alpha, causing him to bare his teeth at me, yanking on my hair painfully.

"You really are a disrespectful little brat, Clara," he hissed. I could hear Dean's menacing growls and grunts from behind me, attempting to fight off the fighters that were leaping on him, pinning him to the ground.

I spun around, my heart rate quickening at the sight of Dylan's fighters barrelling towards us in wolf form, their heavy paws thudding against the ground, the sound echoing throughout the clearing.

"Distract them all!" yelled Alpha Paul, dragging me across the grass, growling at me as I kicked and screamed, repeatedly hitting his back as he hoisted me up and threw me over his shoulder.

"If you touch her, I will kill you!" roared Dean, his limp and blood covered human form catching my eye as the warriors pinned him down. "I shifted back, now don't fucking touch her!"

He disappeared out of my view as the trees and shrubs clouded my vision, the final picture being Dylan's warriors being ambushed as they attempted to reach me, their wolves being blocked; the few that did make it through being easily ripped apart by Alpha Paul using one hand, the other grasping onto me, ensuring I couldn't escape.

"Let me go!" I screamed, hearing a final desperate scream from Dean before they were camouflaged with the sound of running water, noticing Alpha Paul had sprinted far enough through the forest that we had reached a large waterfall, the sound of rushing water making it hard to even make out my own yells.

"Perfect, nobody will be able to hear your screams with that racket," mumbled Alpha Paul, pushing past a large oak tree, revealing a small battered looking cabin, the front door hanging on by just one single bolt.

Pushing through the door, Paul threw me onto the ground with a grunt, standing above me with a smirk plastered on his face, his naked body causing me to squirm beneath him, locking my eyes with him, his face dripping with the blood of some of Dylan's fighters.

"Don't kill Dean," I gasped, clutching at my broken ribs in pain, hissing to myself as I scrambled away from his across the floorboards, my back eventually hitting the cold wooden wall.

Alpha Paul chuckled, shaking his head at me, crouching down. "You have no idea how much seeing you this frightened pleases me."

"What the hell are you doing?" I spat, whimpering as he came closer, reaching out, tucking a strand of my chocolate brown hair behind my ear, his head cocked slightly.

"I already told you Clara, an eye for an eye."

I shook my head, my eyes wide with fear. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Paul raised his eyebrows at me, chuckling to himself. "So, Dylan never mentioned how much of a mess his family and pack are? He never mentioned anything about his psychotic father?"

I narrowed my eyes in confusion, dropping my gaze from my Alpha, my wolf fearful from within me that he was going to kill us any second, telling me to submit to him in order to stay alive.

"I know about his father, yes. What does that have to do with you?"

"His father ordered his pack to attack my beloved Jane whilst out for a casual run. We were no where near their territory, but they ambushed us anyway, we didn't stand a chance."

I gazed at Alpha Paul with wide eyes, shaking my head, words wanting to spill out of my mouth, but I couldn't move. I was frozen on the spot.

"That's right, the pack that you are about to become Luna of, they killed your own Luna! They're monsters, Clara!" growled Paul, his hands balled into fists, shaking at his side.

"Their Alpha had schizophrenia and was probably going through a bad episode! He ordered his pack to attack and they-"

"You have the nerve to defend them?!" roared Paul, striking me across the face, causing me to whimper as blood trickled out of my nose and down my neck, landing on my thighs.

"Is that why you hired Dylan? To distract him?" I muttered, wiping at my nose, clambering to my feet.

"Yes, and he trusted me far too easily, showing our fighters all of his tricks. He's a fool. His pack is a joke. You don't need them."

"Dylan isn't an idiot. I'm sure there's a lot he didn't show your fighters. It's just a shame that their own Alpha wasn't good enough to train them himself!"

"You little bitch!"

Alpha Paul clutched my throat, lifting me up off the ground and pressing me harshly against the wall, his thumb digging into my, causing me to choke, my face turning red. "We don't have long until Dylan's fighters make their way through my barrier, so we might as well have some fun before I kill you."

Paul dropped me, my broken ribs now pulsating with every breath I took, the pain becoming almost unbearable. "My pack had to survive without a Luna, so let's see how this pack does."

My breath caught in my throat as Alpha Paul grabbed me again, smirking at me, causing me to squirm away from him, covering my naked chest with my arms.

"You know Clara, I always thought you were a beautiful girl," he mumbled, his eyes trained on my chest, licking his lips in anticipation.

"Don't touch me," I cried, tears dribbling down my cheeks, knowing that I was going to die, but before that, I was going to be raped.

I would never get to say goodbye to my mate, and worse off, Alpha Paul would most likely leave my body here for him to find, naked and blood covered.

"Why not just give yourself up to me, Clara? You're going to die anyway! You might as well enjoy yourself before you go."

"I would never enjoy being-"

I was interrupted my my Alpha's lips being pressed on mine with pure aggression, his tongue invading my mouth. A gag rose up my throat, and I attempted to turn my head, but Paul's hands held me firmly in place, smashing my head back against the wall with enough force to cause a concussion.

I became dizzy, my heart palpitating in my chest as I screamed into Alpha Paul's mouth, the blood from my nosebleed mixing with his saliva, causing him to moan, pulling away, licking his lips.

"You taste amazing," he said smirking, grabbing my arms and pinning them above my head with one hand, the other reaching over to the cabinet next to us, fumbling around in a drawer until a sharp blade appeared in his hand, causing me to gasp.

"Now, now, don't be scared. I will try and make it as quick as possible for you, I'm feeling generous today," teased my Alpha, pressing the knife to my throat gently as he traced my jugular, chuckling to himself as more tears rolled down my face.

"You know, I haven't got any since Jane passed away, so you should be honoured that I chose you," he whispered in my ear, dropping my arms from above me, using his now free hand to trace my toned stomach, lingering just above my underwear line.

"Please don't," I pleaded through blurry eyes, shutting them so I didn't have to see my abuser any longer, just wanting it to be over and done with, and as painless as possible.

I gasped in pain as my wrist was suddenly sliced open, blood draining out of me into a large puddle on the dark wooden floor.

"Maybe you'll pass out from blood loss half way through if you're lucky," sneered Paul, taking the blade and slicing my thigh, causing me to scream in pain, recoiling back into the wall as much as I could.

"Please stop!" I sobbed, using my other arm to press down on my bleeding wrist in an attempt to slow the blood flow, hugging my knees to my chest as I tucked my face away.

"Now give me one good reason why I should stop?"

"Dylan will kill you," I whispered, glaring up at my Alpha, shaking my head.

"Then I will kill him first. Let's see how this pack of his copes without an Alpha too. He'd be following in his pathetic father's footsteps."

"How did you even get our pack to agree to do this? You're hurting one of your own!"

Paul chuckled, shaking his head, grabbing me by the back of the neck roughly so that he could look deeply into my eyes. "I only tell my pack what they need to know. Only the few that were with me when I took you know the truth, and they know that if they say anything, they'll be killed."

"So the rest of the pack fighting right now don't even know what they're fighting for?"

"All they know is their trusted Alpha has ordered them to attack, and they must follow every one of my orders. I've told them it's necessary if we want to survive."

I growled, my wolf itching to lunge at him from inside of me. "So they've known the whole time that Dylan was training them that they were going to attack?"

Paul shrugged, shaking his head. "No, only a few knew, but for the others, it was a surprise."

"You're sick!" I yelled, unable to control my anger, knowing that in a matter of minutes, I would probably fall unconscious, and never wake up.

"And I love it," laughed Alpha Paul, throwing the knife to the other side of the room, his hand caressing my breasts, a wave of nausea overcoming me, bile rising to the back of my throat.

I shut my eyes, Accepting that there was no way out of this. I couldn't shift, no matter how much I longed to, and I knew that by the time anyone found me, it would be too late.

I imagined Dylan, his smiling face clouding my mind, wanting to die happily thinking of him, and for a split second, I felt peace, seeing my mate's laughing form in my head, knowing that nobody had ever loved anyone as much as I loved him.

The vision of us meeting in the club came to mind, and how he held my hair back whilst I vomited embarrassingly. I sighed to myself, envisioning how it felt when I had first held his hand, and when he had first kissed me. I thought about the time we first made love, fully seeing the effect I had on him, and when he had told me he had loved me. I envisioned how he had engulfed me when he had rescued us from Sawyer, and how he helped save Jared's life.

I was at peace, drifting away slowly at the thought of my mate, my heart beat slowing down, pumping less and less blood around my body, showing me it was almost time to go. I couldn't feel a thing. I had blocked it all out.

I was dying.

But, I was dying at peace...

-

"Open your eyes, Clara!"

I groaned, lolling my head to the side, my body feeling heavy.

"I swear to God, Clara, open your god damn eyes!"

Peeking through my eyelashes, I gazed up in confusion to see a naked and blood covered Dean crouching in front of me, his face masked with worry, his hands clutching my shoulders.

"Clara! Can you hear me? Come on, look at me, focus on me!"

Blinking a few times, I turned my head to the side, noticing a limp Alpha Paul laying on the ground in a pool of blood, but I was unsure on whether it was his blood, mine or Dean's. The once individual puddles had all met to create almost a lagoon of blood covering the dirt covered wooden floor.

"He-he..," I mumbled, my body refusing to allow me to speak, my tongue becoming heavy.

"He's dead, Clara," whispered Dean, raising his eyebrows at me, cupping my face, looking deeply into my eyes.

"Dead?" I whispered, the tears starting to roll down my cheeks again, all of my emotions crashing down on me at once.

"Answer me one question Clara, did he touch you?" asked Dean slowly, guilt lacing his voice as he watched me, his eyes holding fear for the answer.

"He...he cut me," I mumbled, avoiding eye contact with Dean who sighed, nodding.

"I know that sweetie, but I need to know if he touched you."

I shrugged, shaking my head, confused as to what had actually happened, and how long I had been out of it for.

"Okay, talk to Dylan in a little bit, I need to get you away from him," said Dean, nodding towards my dead Alpha's body that had been ripped and torn.

I clung onto Dean as tightly as I could as he hoisted me up, noticing how my wrist and thigh had been bandaged up tightly with large pieces of cloth, the blood soaking them through.

"I used the bed sheets from the cabin to help slow the bleeding. Dylan and the pack doctors are on their way now. It's best if we don't move you yet."

I was placed gently onto the ground, laying down in the dirt as Dean kneeled above me, placing my head in his lap, stroking the hair away from my sweaty forehead.

"I-I thought I had... died," I whispered, tears streaming down my face, causing Dean to shake his head.

"Not on my watch."

Suddenly, a low growl made Dean's head snap up, and he stood up, preparing to shift, gazing into the trees.

I craned my neck to see two large wolves parade out from behind the trees, baring their teeth, snapping at Dean.

"Come on now guys, the rest of your fighters surrendered when they saw what your Alpha had done to one of their own. Look at her, she's on the brink of death, don't be that idiotic loyal fighter who follows every order despite knowing how wrong it is," said Dean calmly, motioning down to me, causing the two wolves to stop walking, their heads cocking to the side as they gazed down at me.

For a second, I thought they had changed their mind, realising that Alpha Paul's orders were against a werewolves' beliefs, but, they soon ripped their gazes away from me, continuing to stalk towards Dean, their growls echoing throughout the forest, bouncing off the trees.

Dean sighed, shaking his head, quickly shifting and lunging at both of the wolves, knocking them to the ground with ease, ripping at their throats and kicking them backwards, causing them to skid across the grass, landing in a bloody heap behind the cabin.

One of them jumped up, looking down at their now deceased fellow fighter, growling menacingly at Dean, running at him full force, but groaning in pain as Dean sunk his teeth into his neck, ripping at his skin, causing the fighter to drop to the ground.

Shifting back, Dean turned his attention back to me, muttering a string of curse words to himself as he knelt back down, gazing down at me sadly.

"Where the fuck is she?!"

My breath caught in my throat at the voice, causing my heart rate to quicken, dizziness overcoming me from the adrenaline.

He was here.

And yet again, that same sense of peace overwhelmed me as I closed my eyes, but for a different reason, because I knew that this time, if I was going to die, it would be in the arms of my mate.
